After talking with her grandmother, Annalise headed to Rezi's house. As soon as she entered, she saw Mrs. Mendez sitting in the lounge.
"Hi, Mrs. Mendez," said Annalise politely.
"Oh, hi Annalise. How are you doing now? I heard what happened—I'm so sorry," Mrs. Mendez replied, her tone full of concern.
"Oh no, it's okay," Annalise responded, offering a small smile.
"I hope you're feeling better, sweetie," she said gently. "Rezi's not here, by the way. Clyde came to pick her up just before you arrived."
"Oh, okay. Thank you for letting me know," Annalise said.
"You're welcome, dear. Take care of yourself, and tell your grandmother I said hi."
"I will. Take care too, Mrs. Mendez. Bye!" Annalise called as she made her way upstairs.
(scene shifts to Rezi and Clyde, who are on their way to a cafe)
""Thanks for taking me out, Clyde," Rezi said, glancing at him.
"No need to thank me," he replied with a smile.
"I need to tell you something once we get there," she added.
"Okay..." Clyde nodded, curiosity in his tone. While Rezi and Clyde went to the Cafe, Han sat in his office chair, staring out the window, thoughts spinning. The café fight replayed over and over in his head. He couldn't shake the feeling that something worse might happen.
Determined to find answers, he called his assistant.
"I need information on that guy I fought with—anything you can dig up. Fast."
An hour later, his assistant returned.
"His name's Henry Dawson. He works for Carlos Leamington... a business tycoon," the assistant said.
Han froze. The name hit him like a punch to the gut—Leamington.
That was Annalise's grandmother's last name—Delphine Leamington.
Now, you might be wondering: Isn't Annalise's last name Smith?
Well, she wasn't born a Smith.
That name was given to her the day her real one became a death sentence.
After her parents were murdered by her uncle, Carlos Leamington, her grandmother changed her name to keep her hidden. No one—not even those closest to her—knew that Annalise was the daughter of Smith Leamington, the biggest business tycoon Birmingham had ever seen.
Smith Leamington had built a trading empire so powerful it left a mark on the entire city. But with power came enemies. And the worst one was his own brother—Carlos.
Blinded by greed, Carlos murdered Smith and his wife in cold blood. But he didn't get what he wanted. The inheritance bypassed him entirely. The only heir left was Annalise.
She was just 13.
Annalise's Grandmother and mother of Smith and Carlos Leamington Delphine Leamington, hanged her last name to Smith to keep her hidden and safe from Carlos and other Enemies of her father. the world never knew that Annalise was a Leamington daughter of Smith Leamington the biggest Business tycoon of Birmingham (United Kingdom). He had many enemies, the biggest one was his one brother Carlos Leamington. he was always after his brothers wealth and business , and one day blinded by greed he murdered his own brother and his wife but unfortunately for him, he wasn't part of the inherence and didn't get anything. He went after his niece who was only 13 at the time. So To keep Annalise safe her last name was changed and it was kept quiet that she was Smith Leamington's daughter and the only Heir to his Empire to avoid putting her in any more danger from her uncle and other Enemies of her father.
(Scene: At the Café – A cozy corner table, warm lighting, quiet buzz of conversation in the background)
Rezi sat across from Clyde, her fingers curled tightly around her cup of hot chocolate. She hadn't touched it. Her eyes were distant, watching people pass by the window, but not really seeing any of them.
Clyde leaned forward, voice gentle.
"You said you needed to tell me something..."
Rezi blinked, then nodded slowly.
"It's about the guy who started the fight at the café... the one Han went after."
Clyde raised an eyebrow. "What about him?"
"I—I watched the video they were making and the CCTV footage ," she whispered. "From the cameras outside the café. I wasn't supposed to... but I asked my cousin who works for security to let me see it."
Clyde leaned in, now fully alert. "And?"
Rezi hesitated. Her voice dropped even lower.
"He wasn't just picking a fight. He was watching someone... more specifically, Annalise."
Clyde's jaw clenched.
"You're sure?"
Rezi nodded, swallowing hard. "Before the fight broke out, he was standing at the edge of the street for several minutes. Just watching the café window. Watching her. And then he made a call. Right after that, he walked in and the rest you know.
"So it was a setup," Clyde muttered. "A distraction."
"That's what I thought too," Rezi said. "And it gets worse."
Clyde looked at her, waiting.
"I did some digging... and I found his name: Henry Dawson. And he works for, Carlos Leamington" she said, her voice barely a whisper.
"...Carlos Leamington, how is he related to this situation ?" Clyde said curiously
Rezi leaned in and told him he was Annalise's Uncle who murdered her parents but none other then her and Annalise's family know about it, for the world Smith Leamington and Sara Leamington's death is a mystery and none knows they had a daughter the only Heir to the Empire.
"Then Annalise is in way more danger than we thought."
"Clyde... Carlos knows she's alive—he knows where she is—he won't stop. Not until she's gone. Just like her parents."
Clyde leaned back, stunned, the weight of Rezi's words settling on him like a stone.
He ran a hand through his hair, processing. "Does Han know all this?"
Rezi shook her head. "Not yet. But he's not stupid—he already knows something's off. He asked his assistant to dig into Henry Dawson. I'm pretty sure by now... he knows who Carlos is."
Clyde looked out the café window, his expression darkening.
"If Han knows... he'll tell Annalise."
"She deserves to know," Rezi whispered. "She has to."
There was a pause—tense, quiet, like the eye of a storm.
"I can't believe she's been living under a false name all these years," Clyde muttered. "All this time... she was the daughter of Smith Leamington and no one knew."
Rezi nodded slowly.
"Delphine did what she had to do to protect her. If people found out Annalise was the heir to that empire—especially someone like Carlos—it would've been a death sentence."
Clyde clenched his fists.
"But now that he knows... it's only a matter of time before he makes a move."
(Scene Shift: Han's Apartment – Nighttime)
Han stood near his window, the city lights flickering below. His phone was still in his hand. The information about Carlos Leamington kept flashing in his mind.
Annalise Smith wasn't just a name—it was a shield. A lie wrapped in truth. And behind it... was a girl being hunted by her own blood.
He turned, grabbed his keys, and rushed out the door.
(Scene Shift: Annalise's Grandmother's House – Later that Night)
Annalise was curled up on the couch, a blanket around her and a book in her lap she wasn't really reading. Her thoughts were cloudy—memories of her parents, questions about her past, worry about the café fight.
A knock at the door startled her.
She stood, slowly walking to the entrance. When she opened the door, Han was standing there, his expression serious.
"Han?" she asked, confused. "What are you doing here?"
"I need to talk to you," he said. "It's important."
She stepped aside, letting him in.
He didn't sit. Instead, he turned to face her.
"I know who Henry Dawson is," he began. "And... I know who Carlos Leamington is."
Annalise froze, her breath catching in her throat.
Han's voice softened. "I know what he did to your parents. And I know who you really are."
Her eyes widened in horror. "How—how do you know that?"
"I put the pieces together. Your last name, your grandmother's, the man you've been hiding from... it all lines up."
Tears welled in her eyes, her voice trembling. "You weren't supposed to know."
Han stepped closer. "But I do. And I'm not going to let him hurt you."
Annalise blinked, shocked. "You're not scared?"
"Of Carlos?" Han said with a slight smirk. "No. But I am scared of losing you."
