4Chapter 9

Aleister focused on the bag of marbles before him and picked one up, green circuits spreading across his arm and into the marble. He aimed at a tin can he'd prepared earlier, and flicked the marble towards it, easily piercing through the can and slamming into the bricks behind them.

He picked up another marble, wincing as his reinforcement spread to it and instead of enhancing it, caused it to crack in half. He sighed and grabbed another marble, reinforced it, and flicked it towards the cans, causing one to burst open with the juice inside it.

For the next few minutes he'd keep grabbing marbles, reinforcing them, and tossing them into the marbles. His aim wasn't the best and he did miss some shots, but each one that hit was powerful and destroyed the cans they hit.

Spell improved.

- Reinforcement (Reinforces an area of the body, making it tougher, faster and stronger. No longer risks damaging the body when used, and reinforced items are now as hard as steel).

Aleister walked around the unconscious Squealer, currently tied to a makeshift surgery table he'd created with alchemy. He wasn't going to perform surgery, but he would be performing some... Invasive experiments.

He placed his hand onto her body, wincing at the filth and dirt covering her (He'd have to hose down her and the other captured Merchants later), green circuit lines spreading across her and...

Huh?

He did it again, frowning. What the hell? While he'd admit he wasn't an expert at Structure Analysis, he should be able to figure out if Squealer had anything off with her body, and he could tell, she should have died a long time ago from drug overuse.

His original goal of searching for any Magic Circuits (which she didn't, which only made sense. Magic Circuits weren't from this reality, so why would someone possess them) long forgotten, he kept checking over and over.

Squealer's body was alive, and somehow all of her bodily systems functioned despite the fact her kidney's should have given out from drugs, and dozens of diseases and sicknesses (Aleister quickly removed his hands from her body, thankful for the fact his body could burn off most sickness and disease with some mana). It was illogical, it was almost like...

He frowned and checked over her brain, there was something there that wasn't apart of some of the other Merchant's he'd checked over with Structural Analysis. Was this... The Corona Pollentia? He'd heard of it in his research, it was the proof of how they knew someone was a parahuman. He'd already checked himself and he was one of the ones who lacked a Corona Pollentia, which was honestly a relief.

Aleister quickly dragged Squealer back into the basement and went over his captured Merchants, most of them lacked Corona Pollentia's, but two did have what seemed to be a smaller version, perhaps this was a sign they could trigger and become parahumans?

He frowned, despite what some believed the knowledge of trigger events wasn't common knowledge. He'd heard some rumors, but nothing concrete. He doubted Squealer could tell him anything even if he got her to talk.

As Aleister went through what he'd learned in the past hour, he realized hypnotism was a lot more complicated then it seemed.

It seemed so simple first, push a bit of mana into someones head to mess with their memories and mind, oh if only. It was actually quite simple to set up, but the problem was keeping it effective.

Apparently all that talk of hypnosis not being able to make you do something you don't want to was true on some level, or rather, the stronger will somebody had the easier they could break free or not even be effected at all.

Drugs could also effect it apparently, Squealer had easily fallen under hypnosis while one of the Merchants who's system he'd flushed of drugs could resist slightly.

Aleister frowned at the idea of using drugs to make hypnotism easier, he wasn't very comfortable with the idea at all. He'd rather improve his spell then have to use drugs.

Spell created!

- Hypnosis (A simple spell that allows the user to hypnotize those with weak will or under mental effects. The stronger someones will is, the harder it is to hypnotize them).

Aleister, currently Faust, took a slow breath as he channeled magic into the stealth ruby. His stealth skill wasn't impressive, add on the armor and he was lucky the ruby kept him from being noticed.

Trying to find Mush wasn't easy, the Merchants were in an uproar about Squealer. He had seen on the news that Skidmark had been driving around one of Squealer's vehicles and got into a fight with Armsmaster, barely escaping after Mush arrived to help his boss. Faust had hit two drug labs and he knew the Merchants were running about with their panic

And now he was on his third, hoping Mush or Skidmark was inside. But what he hadn't expected was the smell of smoke and he quickly began running.

Screams and shouts, nobody noticed as an armored man ran into the warehouse. He glanced about and noticed two fighting, Mush... and Hookwolf. Aleister cursed, he wasn't against the Merchant getting slaughtered by Hookwolf, but he needed that test subject!

Watching as the gigantic trash titan that was Mush collided with the metallic wolf that Hookwolf had become, Faust frowned. He wasn't leaving without some sort of prize today, nor would he let the Empire or PRT take his prize. He could try tricking Hookwolf into thinking he was an empire hopeful but... Guh, that idea even in his head was nauseating! No, that was an unacceptable path.

He pulled out two marbles, reinforced them and flicked. One hit Hookwolf in where his leg would be, causing him to let out an agonized scream and the other pierced through Mush's golem, painful screams echoing into the sky. Good.

Faust held out his hand, with his target not moving and the ruby making his presence more hidden, and activated Flash Air. Instantly Mush appeared in front of Faust confused and was quickly hit with a hypnosis spell, his eyes going empty as the spell took placed.

Grabbing Mush and suppressing the urge to vomit, Faust began to run away. He ignored the angry demands of Hookwolf to know who'd shot him, and the pleas of Merchants begging for mercy. He cursed under his breath.

He should've expected someone would try attacking the Merchants, with one of their capes down it was only obvious someone would try hitting them. Another mistake he should've been prepared for, but he had Mush, he had won this round.

Now there was only Skidmark... And Faust had no intentions of taking him alive.

Merchants.

Your enemy, your targets. A list of how many ordinary members there are, buildings they own, and capes.

Skidmark - Still active.

Squealer - Captured.

Mush - Captured.

Drug Labs - One left.

Ordinary members - 9.

Captured Merchants - 27.

Two down, one to go. Just Skidmark left and with them only having one drug lab left and nine members, there's no chance of missing them all in one shot. And with only one turn left on the mission as well, very lucky.

Destroy the Merchants (Rare).

- Defeat the Merchants within a Week (Ultra), one days left.
