Chapter 6 - A proposal born on convienece

Halmoni's eyes sparkled with determination as she dialed the phone number of Kanak's father. She had been waiting for this moment for weeks, and she was not going to let it slip away.

"Ah, Mr. Thakur, it's so nice to finally speak with you," Halmoni said, her voice warm and friendly. "I hope you're doing well."

Kanak's father, Vraj, was taken aback by the sudden call from Kim So-Min's grandmother. "Ah, yes, thank you for asking. We're all doing well. But what can I do for you, Mrs...?"

"Halmoni, please," she said with a chuckle. "I'm calling to invite you and your family to visit us in Korea. We would love to have you here as our guests."

Vraj was surprised by the invitation, but he was also curious. "That's very kind of you, Halmoni. But what's the occasion?"

Halmoni's voice took on a sly tone. "Oh, just a little family gathering. We would love to have Kanak and your family join us. And, of course, we would like to discuss a very important matter with you."

Vraj's curiosity was piqued, and he agreed to bring his family to Korea. Two days later, they arrived at Kim So-Min's luxurious mansion, where they were greeted by Halmoni and her grandson.

As they sat down to dinner, Halmoni revealed her proposal. "Mr. Thakur, I'm sure you're aware of Kanak's unique blood type. And I'm sure you also know that my grandson, So-Min, has the same rare blood type."

Vraj nodded, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Yes, we're aware of that."

Halmoni smiled, her eyes glinting with determination. "Well, I think it would be perfect if Kanak and So-Min were to get married. They would be able to take care of each other's medical needs, and they would also be able to start a family together."

Kanak's eyes widened in shock, and she shook her head. "No, no, no. I don't want to get married. Especially not to someone I've just met."

But Halmoni was not deterred. She turned to Vraj and offered him a large sum of money to convince Kanak to marry So-Min. Vraj was taken aback by the offer, but his wife, Sobha, was not. She had always been eager to improve their family's financial situation, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

"Sobha, what are you thinking?" Vraj asked, his voice low and warning.

But Sobha just smiled, her eyes glinting with greed. "We would be foolish to pass up this opportunity, Vraj. Think of all the things we could do with that kind of money."

Vraj's face fell, and he knew that he was beaten. He looked at Kanak, who was shaking her head in disgust. "I'm sorry, Kanak. It seems that we have no choice."

Kanak's eyes filled with tears, and she stood up, her voice trembling with anger. "You're selling me off like a commodity. I won't do it. I won't marry him."
