Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: The Storm Hits Back

[LUCAS – POV]

I found her.

Curled up on the floor in the girls' bathroom, hoodie pulled over her head like she could disappear.

She didn't look up when I knocked gently on the stall.

"Jas... it's me."

Silence.

"I saw it too," I said softly. "And I don't care what anyone says. That's not who you are."

A sniff. Then her voice—small, cracked. "You weren't supposed to see that."

"I'm glad I did," I said. "Now I know exactly who I need to destroy."

The door creaked open.

Her eyes were red, makeup smudged, but she still looked like the strongest person I'd ever known. I pulled her into a hug, and she didn't fight me this time. She just sank into me like she needed someone to hold the weight for a minute.

And I would.

For as long as she needed.

[JASMINE – POV]

Lucas didn't ask questions.

He didn't push.

He just stood there, holding me, letting me cry all the poison out.

"I trusted him once," I said, voice shaking. "And he used me. Again."

"Not anymore," Lucas said, his voice dark, firm. "He doesn't get to hurt you again. I swear."

I pulled back to look at him. "Everyone saw it."

"Let them," he said. "If they believe that version of you, they were never worth your time."

Then he smiled—sharp, dangerous.

"I'm going to handle this."

And for once, I wasn't scared of what would happen next.

Because Lucas wasn't just a boyfriend anymore.

He was my storm.

And Ayo had no idea what was coming.
