Chapter 3 - 3 : Starting of Darkness part 3

---

Somewhere deep in the forest, the wind element slowed and gently descended, placing two figures on the mossy earth. Lin Yumei clutched her son tightly. Raine sobbed against her chest, his small hands trembling.

"W-When is Papa coming?" he asked between tears. "Why… why do I feel like he's never coming back?"

Lin Yumei held him closer, pressing his head into her shoulder. Her voice broke.

"You still have your mother, child. So don't worry…"

But Raine's cries only grew louder.

"Papa… why didn't you come with me…"

As their sorrow spilled into the night, a human figure stood silently on a treetop a kilometer away, eyes fixed on them.

"Tch. I just need to take the child. Zhao was a fool—couldn't handle a simple task."

He sneered. "And now I have to fly fifty kilometers just to clean his mess."

Raine's sobs began to fade when Lin Yumei suddenly turned her head sharply. Her eyes narrowed. Raine followed her gaze.

Floating above the trees was a man dressed in gold. His golden hair shimmered beneath the moon, and his robes radiated a noble aura. He stood calmly in the air, regal and dangerous.

Lin Yumei's face turned solemn. She hugged Raine tightly.

The floating figure drifted closer, smiling.

"Hello, Miss Lin Yumei. I am Zhao's teacher. I'm known as—"

"Golden Asterioc," she interrupted coldly. "The only human with the gold element."

He smiled, pleased.

"You're correct."

Behind him, nine golden shards appeared, orbiting his head like divine halos. The forest hushed.

"Then you already understand your position. Hand over the boy."

Lin Yumei stepped forward, shielding Raine. Four green-blue wind shards floated behind her. Her voice was firm.

"Try and take him."

Golden Asterioc laughed, genuinely amused.

"You think you can stop me?"

But as she stood defiantly, something flickered in his eyes—disgust. Rage.

He hated her courage.

Far away, a broken figure stirred on the ground.

Long Weisheng, barely alive, pushed himself upright. Just a sliver of life remained. But his body moved—he had to move. His family was in danger.

He ran.

Back in the forest, Golden Asterioc lifted a hand. The ground trembled.

Three golden mountains emerged from the air above them. Each one massive—300 meters wide at the base, 250 meters tall—floating like weapons of judgment.

His eyes burned.

"You really think you can stand against me?"

He paused. His gaze shifted.

He sensed something.

A blur raced toward them.

Long Weisheng appeared. His body was broken. His energy burned thin. But he was there.

Raine gasped. Lin Yumei cried out. They both rushed to him.

She threw her arms around him. Raine clung to his leg.

"Don't ever do that again," she sobbed.

Weisheng just nodded, eyes heavy, but calm. He turned toward Golden Asterioc.

"If the family reunion is finished," the golden cultivator said dryly, "shall I just kill you and take your demonic child?"

Both parents stood together. Weisheng was gaunt. His life force faded. Yet still, he smiled.

"Yeah. Why not."

Golden Asterioc's smile vanished.

He pointed. One golden mountain hurtled downward.

Raine didn't tremble. His parents were here.

He heard their voices—both speaking together.

> "My child… we're sorry we couldn't protect you. Forgive us."

Tears fell from their eyes.

Hand in hand, they stood. Their bodies glowed with wind energy. Then—

They vanished.

Wind exploded from the forest.

Every strand of wind in the region was pulled into a vortex. It howled through trees, tore leaves from branches. A storm surrounded Raine.

A spiraling wind shield formed around him. The energy surged into his body.

The golden mountain pierced every shield it touched—unstoppable.

Golden Asterioc turned to leave, uninterested in witnessing the end.

"I was going to take him alive," he muttered. "But I hated his parents."

The storm raged.

Wind surged into Raine's body.

And then—it happened.

Two cores formed inside Raine.

One—bright and pulsing—within his forehead.

The other—deep and powerful—within his dantian.

In that half-second, they both awakened.

The golden mountain crashed down—

Boom!

—but shattered before it struck.

A sliver of red energy had sliced through it.

Raine's eyes fluttered. He saw a human figure standing before him. Red hair. Red eyes. A presence like blood and fire.

The man stared down at him.

Raine fainted.

Suddenly, the earth trembled. The forest stilled.

A massive black dragon's head rose from the ground. Its eyes alone were larger than a man. Darkness swallowed the sky.

Golden Asterioc—already over a hundred kilometers away—sensed the presence.

His heart froze.

> No… That aura… A great beast?! Why is it out of the core zone?!

He fled—fast.

The dragon looked toward the red-haired man.

> "Beast King… forgive me, but why did you save this human child? You even revived his father… and let him die again?"

The red-haired man—his gaze calm, unreadable—answered quietly.

> "Curiosity."

Then, after a moment:

> "And it was the order of our Young Mistress."

Not far from them, riding atop a white dragon, sat a young girl.

She couldn't have been older than five.

Her hair was silver, eyes purple, skin like snow. She sat with royal calm, watching everything unfold.

The black dragon bowed low.

> "Welcome, Young Mistress."

The little girl simply nodded.

"Okay," she said coldly.
