Chapter 104 - Entrusted with an Important Task

Augustus surveyed his surroundings and praised, "This place you chose is very good, and all the necessary things are complete. More importantly, it has strong confidentiality and can be reused."

"Alright, I will immediately organize the relevant information and materials and send them to you. As for these Assassins, without your permission, I will not contact them again, nor will I secretly give them any orders behind your back.

If you have any further questions after reviewing the materials, you can ask me at any time, and I will tell you everything I know. I will also do my best for anything you need me to do." Enzo replied succinctly, as if he hadn't had his power weakened, but rather had dropped a burden that had been weighing on him for a long time.

Augustus gazed at Enzo's face and remained silent for a long time. Enzo had directly said everything he had originally intended to remind him of in a roundabout way, leaving him momentarily at a loss for words. If it weren't for Enzo's weathered face, Augustus would have almost felt that he was so sensible it was heartbreaking.

After a long silence, Augustus slowly began, "Alright, I understand your painstaking efforts. Stirile was originally your coachman, so let him be my coachman.

I already have many coachmen, and they are not required to act as guards, nor do they need to be inseparable from me at all times. This allows him to have time for errands and rest, and also reduces his public appearances. Do you think this arrangement is acceptable? You can speak up if you have any issues; I don't understand, and I need your advice."

"This arrangement is very reasonable, far superior to the arrangements I had to make out of necessity," Enzo praised with genuine sincerity.

"Then I can rest assured." Then, Augustus turned to Stirile to ask for his opinion, "By the way, Stirile, can you accept this arrangement? What do you think? Feel free to speak."

"I respectfully obey His Holiness the Pope's arrangement," Stirile responded respectfully, a hint of imperceptible joy on his face.

Augustus felt that Stirile at least had no resistance, and only then did he finally relax.

"Since that's the case, you will be responsible for organizing the Assassin's information. I have other, more important matters I want to entrust to Enzo. Stirile, can you handle it?"

"I guarantee to complete the mission."

Hearing that there were other matters to be entrusted to him, Enzo immediately perked up his ears, and with a roll of his eyes, he roughly guessed what it was about.

"Alright, the matters here are decided for now. Enzo, let's go. I'll tell you what I need you to do when we get back with Faol and the others. Stirile, drive Enzo one last time.

"Your Holiness, how was it?" Dracula quickly came forward as soon as he saw Augustus.

"It can be confirmed that this matter has nothing to do with Enzo." After saying that, Augustus joked with Enzo, "Enzo, you've seen it, it's really not that I don't trust you, it's just that they are too strict. If we don't clarify things, it's impossible to entrust you with heavy responsibilities."

What truly made Augustus believe it had nothing to do with Enzo was not that Enzo had such a team of Assassins and that it would be better to send them to act, because this could not rule out the possibility of Enzo framing someone.

Rather, it was Enzo so frankly revealing one of his trump cards and generously handing it over to him. If it were to target one or several competitors, doing so would be too much of a loss, and besides, even if he were allowed to investigate, everyone would not sit idly by and watch him suppress opponents at will; he could only act accordingly.

On the way, driving Enzo for the last time, Stirile couldn't help but speak to the person behind him, "Master..."

His words were cut off as soon as they left his mouth by Enzo, who was resting with his eyes closed: "Stop, don't call me Master anymore. Call me Enzo. Remember, from today onwards, we are colleagues."

Stirile was somewhat at a loss and uncomfortably corrected himself, "Enzo, do I really have to follow His Holiness the Pope from today onwards?"

Enzo, with his eyes tightly closed and a poker face, replied, "Of course, as long as His Holiness the Pope is here for a day, you will wholeheartedly assist him for a day. This is good for you, for me, for His Holiness the Pope, and for the Papal States.

As for how long it will be, that depends on the ability of our His Holiness the Pope. I hope I haven't misjudged him; it's best if he's capable. If you can stay by his side, it won't be in vain that I entrusted you to him.

You have followed me for so many years and done so much for me. One day I will grow old, and following me is not a long-term solution. I should have found you a good future. Since His Holiness the Pope is interested, I naturally did him a favor and handed you over to him."

"Enzo, you will surely be healthy and live a long life," Stirile couldn't help but be moved.

Upon returning to the Papal Palace, Augustus said to Stirile, "Stirile, first go and handle the handover procedures, then pack your things and move here."

"Where should I go and to whom should I report?"

"You don't know?"

Stirile pondered for a moment, then frankly said, "I know. I'll go now."

"Enzo, Dracula, let's go."

As soon as they pushed open the door of the reception room, the voices of Faol and Carl, who had been chatting animatedly, abruptly ceased, and they cast inquiring glances at Augustus.

"Enzo's suspicion can be ruled out. Let's talk about what's next." With that, Augustus led the two to sit down.

"Do you believe everything Enzo just said is true?"

"I think what he said doesn't sound false. Whether it's true or false can be verified by checking the time, place, and people he mentioned."

"Yes, that's exactly what I intended. Whether it's true or false, or the truth, we'll only know after investigating. I believe that since Enzo has been cleared of suspicion, and he has expertise in this area, and is also the provider of these clues, it would be most appropriate for him to be responsible for this investigation. What do you think?" Augustus took the opportunity to state his plan.

Faol, who had known Augustus had this plan, was not surprised, but out of distrust for Enzo, he was still somewhat worried and didn't know how to speak.

Augustus saw Faol's thoughts, and with a flash of inspiration, immediately added, "Faol has been managing the Papal States for some days and is quite familiar with all matters within the Papal States. To be safe, and to find out the truth faster, how about letting Faol assist you?"

"That would be truly excellent! Faol and I will definitely live up to your expectations," Enzo promised, patting his chest, not forgetting to include Faol.

With this arrangement, Faol's tightly furrowed brows also relaxed.

"Faol, you assist Enzo and provide as much help as possible. The general direction will still be set by Enzo; don't interfere too much. For some insignificant matters, you can turn a blind eye. If you're unsure about something, you can come directly to me." Knowing the huge differences in their ways of dealing with people, to prevent the two from not getting along or even clashing, Augustus gave Faol a heads-up in advance.

"Your Holiness, may I be so bold as to ask you one more question. For the result of this investigation, do you want the truth, or do you want an explanation?" Enzo asked, hinting at something.

"What do you say?"

"Both?" Enzo countered.

"You said it, it's none of my business. Handle it however you understand it. I don't care about the process; I only care about the result," Augustus hinted.

"If I am to investigate, it will inevitably involve arresting some people. Should we follow procedures or..."

"Arrest them directly. I give you this authority. Anyone involved in this matter must be thoroughly investigated. I give you this authority. Not only that, but I also allow you to temporarily take over some vacant positions."
