The first thing I noticed when I woke wasn't the sunlight, or even the fact that my body felt like I'd gone ten rounds in a war zone.

She lay curled against me, her breath warm on my chest, her arm draped lazily across my stomach like she owned the space. Her hair was a wild mess, strands spilling over her face, but it only made her look more human, more beautiful in a way no makeup or clinic polish could capture.
And I really meant it, no makeup or polish could ever match up to her beauty, she was perfect.....divine.... amazing, she was just, so, so, perfect!
Just Last night, she had been fire and desperation, clawing, gasping, clinging as if I was the only anchor left in her huge world. Now, in the quiet morning glow, she looked breakable. Soft.
