By the time Sukuna was done with this glorious tale of adventure in Konoha land, the three Uchiha in front of him were frozen like statues.
Like they couldn't comprehend what had just been told to them.
However, by the time they processed it, all three of them activated their Sharingan, looking at him like he had kidnapped their children or something.
All three of them had their postures stiffened and were on guard.
"You killed Shisui..." they growled.
'Ah, did I say I came clean about that… Stupid thing to do, yes. However, I have my reason…'
"Well, technically I didn't kill him—I mean yeah, I killed him—but he would have died nonetheless even if I hadn't acted." Sukuna shrugged, making the three in front of him almost growl.
Swing…
A kunai flew, swooping past right at him. It went for a direct hit. However, to everyone's confusion, the kunai went through him completely without any resistance, directly hitting the wall behind, while the masked man still stood there with his hands folded, looking at Izumi with a big sigh.
"At least let me complete myself, will ya? You may find that what I did was actually for the best." Sukuna sighed, making all three of them even more enraged.
"Shut up." Izumi was the first one to act. She immediately rushed at him with another kunai, only for Sukuna to stand there completely unhinged. She went directly for his neck but couldn't even touch him—she phased through him.
'Genjutsu…' she thought, but her own chakra was completely stable. Even after disturbing her chakra, the masked man remained standing there nonchalantly.
"Fire style…" An idiot was just about to use a fire jutsu indoors when Sukuna couldn't take it anymore and shouted,
"It was Danzo."
That name paused Tekka Uchiha, who was about to put the entire compound on fire. Inabi Uchiha, who was weaving his hand signs for something too, paused. Danzo's name for him currently was like "Uchiha" for Tobirama.
"Danzo…" Izumi spat out the name with unfamiliar rage. She didn't even know the man until a few days ago. It was only after getting attacked on their mission that she learned about him and his Root from Inabi.
"Yup…" Sukuna nodded.
"Explain, and don't lie or forget about leaving here alive." Izumi said with heat.
"I doubt you can back that claim, but I'm gonna explain anyway. Hell, I was about to do it if not for some muscle head immediately charging at me." He huffed.
Izumi this time wasn't amused, and even the others were looking at him with quite a threat in their eyes. Those Sharingan could be quite scary to look at sometimes. Not exactly terrifying unless they had special patterns in them, but on the looks department alone… full marks.
"Explain." Izumi once again asked, making sure this was a demand.
"Shisui was attacked by Danzo. That's when I found him."
"Danzo again? At this point, why not put all the blame on him…" Tekka Uchiha retorted. Sukuna was shocked. 'How did he know…'
"Well yes, I understand why you would think that—it would indeed be very easy for me to just put all the blame on Danzo. However, you see, there is a reason why Danzo attacked Shisui. Just like our Miss Uchiha here, he too opened your clan's famed eyes.
The Mangekyo Sharingan…"
As soon as those words fell, it was like the entire room fell into a trance.
"Another one…" Inabi muttered to himself in silent indignation.
For years after Madara Uchiha, no one had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, and now the Uchiha clan suddenly had three people unlocking these eyes—only for half of the clan to be wiped out.
"You're not lying, are you?" Tekka asked with contemplation on his face.
"I don't have any proof if that's what you're asking. Just as I don't have any proof about killing Shisui. Strange how you believe me on the latter so easily, however, need proof for the former." Sukuna sighed with a huff.
And sure enough, the moment they thought about it, they felt that the entire thing was a big mess. How come Shisui was killed so easily if he had Mangekyo?
Even if he didn't have one, what would this masked guy possibly be aiming for by saying something as drastic as being the murderer of Shisui?
What to believe and what not to believe…
"Anyways, whether you believe me or not doesn't matter. Just listen.
Shisui's Mangekyo ability was Kotoamatsukami…" Sukuna didn't care what they were thinking—first, he explained the situation to bring them up to speed with the current time.
So, Sukuna explained how Shisui wished to use his Sharingan to bring peace between the clan and the village, about his Kotoamatsukami power, which brought another round of shouting—this time cursing Shisui for using a power like this for peace… 'What the hell were you thinking, brother? Go take the throne, why are you aiming for a beggar's role?' None understood. Then there came Danzo and how he attacked Shisui. Sukuna explained everything to them.
"…Shisui was able to escape, though. Danzo had already taken one of his Mangekyo, while Shisui himself was injured and poisoned, followed by Danzo's Root." Sukuna took his time explaining the entire thing, up to the point Shisui was attacked and escaped from Danzo.
However, from here on he was going to change the story slightly.
"That's where my entry happens. I killed those Anbu ninja who were chasing Shisui… my goal was pretty much the same as right now—find some way to get Shisui to teach me Genjutsu.
Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered to act." Sukuna said, giving the others some time to digest the story up to this point. He too needed some time to prepare what to say next.
"Then why? Why did you kill Shisui Nii-san? You said you helped him, right? Then why kill him?" Izumi all but shouted, and the way she called Shisui out made it apparent they had a good relationship.
"Because he was a complete idiot…" Sukuna said with more heat in his voice than Izumi's own condescending tone.
This reaction from the masked man was kind of unexpected. What kind of reason was that? 'Just because he was an idiot you kill him? Who does that? And hell, this is Shisui we're talking about—Uchiha's first genius, you bastard…'
"What do you mean?" Inabi growled.
Sukuna sighed, visibly deflated. "He didn't plan to live anyway. While I'm not a medical ninja, his wounds, by my knowledge, weren't lethal enough that he couldn't have recovered. So, outside his condition being worse than it looked, or the poison affecting him too fast, I don't know why he planned not to live.
I tried to convince him otherwise, but the idiot wouldn't budge…
Of course, up to this point I had no reason to kill him. Knowing the guy had a death wish, I couldn't do anything, and I was about to leave—until I learned something which made me kill him." Sukuna sighed again.
"What… what possibly could you have learned that you had to kill him?" Tekka grunted, not believing a thing.
"He planned to give away his other Mangekyo to Itachi."
Silence…
Sukuna's reply left everyone gaping.
'Give a power like Kotoamatsukami to that madman…'
Their scalps went numb. A tingling feeling spread through their bodies as they felt chills creeping up their spines. Sweat appeared on their heads thinking about what would have happened if Itachi had indeed gotten his hands on something like Kotoamatsukami.
"As I said—idiot. Itachi might have only acted on his madness recently, but I have been keeping an eye on him. I know his real face.
I tried to convince Shisui otherwise, but nope. You Uchiha are a stubborn bunch." Sukuna said somewhat accusingly to them, turning the table on them.
None spoke…
They had no idea what to say.
"Ultimately, I had no option but to kill him. That's why I said, technically I didn't, since he planned to kill himself later on anyway." Sukuna shrugged.
"You're lying. It's not possible." Izumi by now had tears in her eyes.
"If you don't wanna believe, then don't—but it's just hypocritical of you if you believe I'm the killer, which I myself confessed, mind you, without putting any stock in my story." Sukuna spat, acting like he was angry.
This shut them up.
Sage knows what was going on in their minds now.
"If anything, you should be thanking me. I didn't stop there. To lift a little bit of my own guilt for what I did, I actually helped you Uchiha even beyond not letting Shisui's eyes fall into Itachi's hands…" Sukuna said with vigor.
The others looked at each other, as if asking what more this guy could have done. How come he had been so active and none of them knew before today? Isn't your action up to this point already too much, little brother…?
"As I said, I fought Itachi on the night of the extermination…" He said, and everyone recalled it.
Now suddenly their minds clicked. So that's why this guy fought with Itachi—to save them?
If this was anyone else, they wouldn't have believed it. Being able to fight Itachi was already a long shot for most people—for all his crimes, Itachi was still a genius of the Uchiha clan.
This fact was even more impossible after knowing Itachi had Mangekyo, and the person telling this entire fairy tale was indeed a child.
However, they had seen this child's strength with their own eyes. None of their attacks hit him, and he killed those enemy shinobi in seconds.
"I even was able to cost him an arm. I don't know whether you guys noticed the heavy destruction on one side of the clan compound from our fight—the same one which had that black fire burning. That's where we fought. You guys must have found a cut-off arm there, right…" He asked.
To this, both Tekka and Izumi turned to Inabi. He was the most senior among them, and if anyone would have this kind of intel, it would be him.
Inabi himself was silent. Because everything the kid told was true. They had indeed found an arm there. At first, it was nothing—just seeing an arm. However, there was no corpse in that area.
So, finding the real owner of that arm was hard. Not to mention, by simple reasoning, anyone could have figured out that this arm was cut off in a fight and belonged to a child around eleven or thirteen.
'Damn it…'
"Is he telling the truth…" Tekka asked hurriedly.
Inabi didn't reply, but his silence was answer enough.
Sukuna kept his mouth shut about Obito and other Root members he gutted that day. These people didn't need to know about them…
The Uchiha fell into a momentary trance, thinking to themselves about everything that had been revealed to them.
Sukuna too quieted down, contemplating his actions.
Was going so far to learn Genjutsu from the Uchiha worth all this hassle?
Sukuna completely believed that it was. There were many people in Konoha who could teach him Genjutsu, however, their methods wouldn't work with him.
He couldn't do hand signs—there would be no chakra moulding that way for him. What he needed was to learn how to use his Sharingan to cast Genjutsu. And of course, undoubtedly, the only people capable of teaching him this were the Uchiha.
As for whether Genjutsu was worth this much? The answer was again a resounding yes.
Not only would this add another way to fight in his quite small arsenal of techniques, but it would also give him a non-lethal takedown option, especially at long range.
It was critical that he learn Genjutsu.
However, he didn't do it just for Genjutsu. Even telling them Itachi's location would have landed him what he wanted from these Uchiha.
No… he had another goal in mind. After knowing that Izumi had unlocked her MS, he had a plan—to complete something he had started but couldn't finish.
"Why…" That's when Izumi spoke out.
"Why tell us this? What do you want?" she asked with hesitation. The others too locked their gazes onto him.
"Hmm… I do intend to learn Genjutsu from you, I wasn't lying there. However, I believe that a little bit of knowledge from your clan could easily be obtained just by giving Itachi's location at this point, with the amount of hatred you all have for him…" He said, earning a grunt from them. As if even if he had asked for Izumi's hand in marriage, it would have been possible.
"I do have a bit of guilt toward what I did to Shisui. I might be selfish, however, I don't consider myself a bad person." He said with a sigh. However, before others could point him out on this line, he spoke again.
"Of course, I'm not a saint either. I'm not good to admit to the crime after committing them." He shrugged, earning a tongue-click from all three of them.
"I told you all this because…" Sukuna was about to say it, however, that's when a loud noise came from outside.
A Uchiha man came running inside, almost frantic.
"What's going on…" Inabi barked. Being disturbed right now irritated him.
"Inabi… it's the clan leader's children. They have been attacked." The man said, dropping a bomb.
"What… how did this happen?" Izumi and the others were shocked. Sukuna was no different.
"Because of Danzo…" Sukuna couldn't find a better time to complete his earlier sentence now.
He didn't know how exactly, but this is Konoha. Don't think too much and put all the blame on Danzo…
