We ran frantically as I asked ,"What do we do??"
He jumped over the stupid boxes scattered at the roadside and replied breathless ,"Run"
I was already feeling extremely tired as I protested, "I can't run anymore!"
He said ," Fine then don't, stand and let them get to you"
I shook my head vigorously at the thought, I met back alley kids and if the kids were so darn scary…I don't even wanna think as I felt a shiver down my spine.
I don't know how long we have been running for. But it was just getting to me, I felt my legs go numb as I stated ,"I..I can't…r..run anymore."
I stopped panting. He looked visibly exasperated as he almost yelled ,"Are you insane!? We can't stop!"
I shook my head, I couldn't run anymore.
He ran his hand through his hair as he snorted ," We had only been running for literally 15 minutes, and you are already tired? Tell me the truth, are you sure you are 19 and not a 60 year old grandma?"
I also felt kind of pathetic at the thought as well. Kia's body is way too weird for me to adjust to, as I was sure he would leave me alone and run away himself. I asked ,"How do you know the time?"
I gulped as the temperature suddenly dropped he put his wrist up, his eyes bore into mine deadpan as he said ," This thing is called watch, it helps us human know the time"
I retorted ,"I know what a watch is!"
They were catching up quickly. Lioren looked back as he cursed and pushed me to the side. We laid low in the narrow space between two buildings, thankfully, they didn't realise. As we waited for them to be out of sight before getting out.
He and I both sighed as I said ,"Woah"
He gave me a ludicrous look and asked ," You are having fun? Being chased by goons?"
I smiled as I said ," Of course not!"
He shook his head and said ,"Seriously where did I get myself stuck in"
Both of our sweet breaks were broken with their shouting as they spotted us. Lioren grumbled as he cursed ," Fuck!"
As we were on the run again, this time we saw in front of us a dead end. We didn't have to turn around to tell them they were right behind us. He whispered to me ,"I can take down 4 you can take down rest"
I whispered back ,"Dude! I have never fought in my life before!"
He thought for a while as he responded ,"I have an idea. I will just tell them to take you and leave me alone"
I felt genuinely anxious, knowing him he could do anything as we turned around. There were a total of 6 of them. I nervously glanced at Lioren who looked relatively calm.
One of them, the one with a scar spoke, his hand held a baseball bat, "You son of a bitch! Stop running away!"
I leaned closer as I asked ,"Hey, isn't your family influential? Use that!"
He curtly replied ,"I only use it in desperate situations"
Does this not look desperate enough to him!? I looked back and forth at him and at them. As one of them smirked and said ,"What's that ugly thing you are roaming with?"
As they all snickered.
Did I just get…mocked by people whose faces look deformed?
I clenched and unclenched my fists, as they went on ,"Look at her, she is angry hahaha. Don't make that face, it will give us nightmares! Hahahaha"
Do they not know about decency?? Should I slap decency into them!!
Lioren said , his voice steady and calm ,"Since she is so ugly to look at but since you guys are not able to look away I have a solution, have you guys considered getting your eyes gauged out? I am an expert at that" as he smiled cruelly.
Damn…even they were taken aback by that comment. It doesn't even make sense, but I felt satisfied. But also annoyed at how he sided with them about the fact that I am ugly.
As one of them scoffed and said ,"You think a lot about yourself? Hey! Take out the weapons, let's teach him what real threat is"
I gulped, as my heart rate increased. For some reason, that bastard was having fun. As his lips upturned into a smirk. He responded ,"Go blind m*ther fuckers!"
He threw a smoke bomb at them and immediately ran away . He is fucking nuts! What a wacko!
I asked "Hey what do we do? They are so persistent?"
He said ,"Just shut up"
As he swiftly grabbed a bicycle and urged me ," Come on hurry up, sit!"
I asked "B-but it's not yours!"
He furrowed his brows as he groaned and responded ,"So? I will give it back now, hop on!"
I was feeling hesitant but when I heard their scurried footsteps I hopped on, gripping his shirt tightly. The truth is I had never ridden a bicycle before, and his super speed wasn't helping!
I kept my eyes closed as he said ,"Even kids aren't afraid of this, you are not even cycling it"
Ughh, I reluctantly opened my eyes. I gulped as I looked back to see them persistently chase us, but as I looked around, I couldn't help but feel the adrenaline rush. It felt straight out of a movie!
As I found myself slightly enjoying the ride. I grip on him loosened as I drank the surrounding scenery…even though it was nothing too much, just the same old city.
I couldn't help but let out a chuckle as he asked ludicrously ,"You are having fun??"
I felt as if someone had caught me doing something heinous as I vehemently shook my head. I could hear his mocking laugh as he went on ,"Answer me you are having fun right?"
I responded ,"I just found it cool, how I had always seen it in movies. Now I am in a situation like that…"
Trying my best to hide my growing excitement. In my previous life, my life was filled with studies, and nothing else… it's oddly refreshing to be in such a situation…
Am I crazy?
"You just realised?" popped out Settings out of nowhere.
I controlled my anger flaring up, As Lioren said ,"You are insane" still a small incredulous smile playing on his lips.
I asked ,"You are acting as if you aren't the one who is actually enjoying "
He laughed as he slowed down a bit ,"You act as if you know a lot about me, why are you so obsessed with me?"
I felt my blood rush up to my eyes, I scoffed as I said ,"Sure, I am so obsessed with you that I always wish to never see you"
He stopped as he said ," Do you know where we are?"
I shook my head as he shrugged and said ,"Me neither"

After a moment of silence I looked around, this felt like the outskirts of the city, the road we are in is in the middle as at both sides there are fields filled with different flowers, the sun was now a dusty red ready to sink in.
When did we come here?
The meadows shifted from golden to salmon at the sun's warm casket. The birds flew away in the distance, is this place even real?
For a moment I got distracted by the scene as I snapped back and yelled ,"Are you kidding me!?"
He said ,"I don't like it when my assistant talks to me like that" shrugging as if he didn't just bring us in the middle of nowhere.
I put my index finger which was pointing at him away, and asked slightly less tense ,"What do we do now? I have to go home! My dad!"
He asked ,"You have a dad?"
I felt my annoyance flare up again as I replied ,"No actually I was born from just my mother only."
He nodded as he went on ,"That explains a lot"
What does he mean!!?
He said ,"I cycled you here, now you are gonna cycle it"
I felt slightly ashamed as I admitted ,"I don't know how to cycle a bicycle". My eyes drifted at the beautifully painted sky.
He stares at me and scoffs, "You are such a weird person, who likes sunsets"
I felt an aggravatingly stupid need to retaliate ,"Hey! Sunset's…it's beautiful. Like look at that"
He looked for a moment and said ,"Whatever, I am allergic to nature. Carry the cycle"
He walked unbothered as I walked with the cycle. Today has been a hard day. After a lot of failed attempts at getting a life, a truck finally stopped. As he and I sat on the back of the truck with the cycle. I stared at the scenery completely entranced, for a moment it felt…surreal.
As the wind blew, the sweetness of fresh air and beauty of nature made me almost forget the cynical guy beside me as he scoffed and said ,"Ughh why did I even bother? I should have just stayed in the park and slept"
How can someone not appreciate such beauty? He calls me an alien when he himself is extremely odd.
As we reached, I didn't forget to return the cycle. I gave the kid chocolates as compensation, as Lioren grabbed one of the chocolates from me and said ,"What are you a kid? Ughh seriously"
As he starts to eat it like he isn't a 19 years old. I bit my tongue, I just wanted to leave at this point. As he stared at the kid who stared at the chocolate in his hand.
He can't be this petty to not give away the chocolate. I watched in anticipation as he said ,"Kid, here'
Rich people…
He handed the kid money as the kid's face instantly lights up, where did those days go where simple gestures were enough to make kids happy. Suddenly my effort with the chocolates felt futile. I lost literally three and half dollars.
As I looked around to see Lioren was preparing to leave. He said ,"Tomorrow is Sunday, I wanna take a lot of rest so come to my house early"
I said ,"Your mom? Isn't she with you?"
He spoke as usual, but there was an undercurrent of bitterness. "No, she will be gone by today, I think she is already gone."
I didn't ask anymore,it was pretty obvious his mother was a sore spot for him. Nor do I wanna know.
As I arrived home. I couldn't help but have racing thoughts of today. It has been an experience… thank god I had called dad early on otherwise he would have been worried sick.
I stared at the ceiling, my Mia purred softly snuggling beside me. I feel strangely calm. I feel like tomorrow won't be that bad right? Like he had done so many bad things already, no way can he do anything worse than making me stare at his face…
But I was wrong. I didn't know how much of a devil he was.
AHHHHHHHHH! I hate him!
