Chapter 13 - The Great Battlefield

As the various units advanced in an orderly fashion, the frontlines of both sides had already clashed—but it didn't start with chaotic melee battles or even taijutsu exchanges. Instead, it began with long-range ninjutsu bombardments.

Each jutsu was a common one, so as to organize as many people as possible to perform them together and maximize the destructive power.

Flames, fierce winds, lightning, and earth walls surged continuously, wildly reshaping the terrain.

After several rounds of ninjutsu bombardment, follow-up troops also arrived and advanced from various directions. Soon, the opposing forces met at close range, and brutal slaughter ensued.

"So tragic... In front of a battlefield like this, someone like me is really insignificant. The upside, though, is that no one should be paying special attention to me anymore."Fengjiansi murmured with genuine awe—this was the first time he had witnessed such a war with his own eyes.

He felt a strong impulse—to send several zombies into the crowd to self-destruct, then start mass conversions, turning both the vigorous living ninja and the corpses on the ground into zombies.

But unfortunately, he couldn't do that. If he did, it would mean death. His limited chakra was far from enough to allow him to wantonly transform and control so many zombies.

Fengjiansi had to restrain himself—until the day he had enough power.

Finally, when Tsunade's command reached the medical unit, Fengjiansi immediately took action.

"Wherever Lady Tsunade appears, Lord Aburame Ryoma is nowhere to be found."

Kazematsuri Takano appeared beside Fengjiansi. In this decisive battle against Sunagakure, Tsunade had gathered medical ninja from all over in hopes of ending the war quickly.

He recalled being summoned by Tsunade—she seemed to have other plans...

Fengjiansi chuckled, "Isn't this normal? Their working styles are fundamentally different. Not interfering with each other's operations is quite reasonable…"

"I'm curious—your performance has been excellent. Haven't you been summoned by Lord Hatake Sakumo or Lady Tsunade? Your secret technique is clearly powerful."

"Powerful only at our level. They have a lot on their plates. They don't have time to worry about a small fry like me."Fengjiansi replied calmly.

Kazematsuri Takano didn't buy it.

Soon, the medical ninja received their orders and began mobilizing, splitting into squads to follow different units.

Fengjiansi had thought he wouldn't be targeted. On a battlefield with over ten thousand scattered warriors in chaotic combat, how could the enemy organize an elite team just to hunt down a mere Chūnin like him?

But he quickly realized—he was wrong.

In the sky, countless hawks circled, observing the battlefield and relaying intel.

And then—Sunagakure really did dispatch a dedicated team to take him out!

A sudden swirl of dust and sand swept across the wasteland. The Sandstorm, Araki, had arrived.

His subordinates tore through Konoha's defensive lines, and Araki himself headed straight for Fengjiansi's medical unit—as if the outcome of the war didn't matter to him, only dealing with Fengjiansi did.

"So you place my value above the entire war? Sandstorm Araki, I'm touched. In that case, I have nothing more to say. If it's you... you might be worth the chakra it would take to turn you into my servant…"

Fengjiansi could clearly sense the presence of his chakra virus on Araki. Perhaps during their previous encounter, a wound had come into contact with zombie flesh, planting a hidden danger.

"Without my conscious control, relying solely on the virus's own strength to infect an elite jōnin? That's insanely difficult. It could take months, even years—assuming they don't do anything to eliminate the virus."

Fengjiansi formed a one-handed seal. He might soon obtain an elite-jōnin-level zombie, but he had to conceal the process—otherwise, it would be far too shocking.
