Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Alert (2)

The Time: 12:05 near the southern part of planet Nessa

The starry universe in it's full glory seemed to be tranquil as always.

The Planets continued with their seemingly eternal rotations around the sun as the stars around them, almost like eyes, beheld the magnificence of this spectacular interplay of the various laws of the universe.

A spectacle most grand….if it wasn't for a certain spaceship that seemed to have nearly collided with planet Nessa.

[Inside, said spaceship]

"RALLEN! IF YOU TOUCH THAT CONSOLE AGAIN WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, I WILL SEE TO IT THAT THE NEXT REPORT WILL HAVE YOU LOSE YOUR LICENSE FOR SPACE TRAVEL! THEN YOU CAN HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO THINK ABOUT YOUR MISTAKES WHILE DOING YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE IN THE SANITATION DEPARTMENT AND RETRYING YOUR SPACE TRAVEL LICENSE EXAM"

Screeched Jeena as she casted a murderous look towards her blockheaded friend and partner.

The earlier activation of the hyperdrive-mode had caused a rapid acceleration of the ship, thus catching her off guard and unprepared to adjust her seat at the cockpit. If it wasn't for the remote access of the device on her hand, they would've had to do a crash landing on the planet.

Jeena felt that she could strangle Rallen right now. She always had an issue with his overly eager mindset, but today she could say that things went too far. She too felt the urgency to fight off the invading Krawl, however she didn't want to do it with missing arms and legs.

But before she was able to continue with her reprimand, a small and sore voice reached her ears.

"M'sowwy jweena"

Said Rallen as he held his swollen cheek and hurting head with his two hands. The once proud and eager figure, now a sulking mess in the corner of the spaceship.

If Ray had seen this scene, he would've definitely gotten reminded of a scene in a certain popular pirate series and said something along the lines of "you are the captain, but not the navigator…".

[Rallen POV:a few minutes ago]

Rallen was excited to have finally found a reason to initiate the hyperdrive mode on his console. It was like a red buzzer, always mocking him with it's red sheen, thought Rallen, as he seemed to phase out the space ship's slowing pace and his Displays turning off.

However, the responsible junior patrols officerhe was, he quickly noticed the abnormalities and wanted to inform his tech savvy partner, but quickly received his karmic justice for his earlier disregard.

"Look! Jeena, we are about to reach the planet.

Huh? Why did my console turn off? Jeena, I think we are getting hack-!"

*punch* *german-suplex* *censored for the faint of heart*

[end of flashback]

Jeena had completely lost her composure a minute ago as a result of her bottled up anxiety about the Krawl invasion and Rallen's almost concerning amount of "stupid". It was so severe that her body, out of sheer frustration, seemed to have acted on instinct and reenacted the old combat style she learned in her old self defense courses, much to Rallen's "delight".

Even though Jeena looked like the classic depiction of a support character from a shounen manga, she is a force to be reckoned with once angry.

Rallen keenly remembered that she had many trophies in a corner of her room, some of which were from official combat competition of the planetary force.

The reason why he knew what Jeena's room looked like is because he doesn't. He promised that a concussion and a few ago.

Dark times.

Never go uninvited and excited with a spaceship model into a girls room, it's bad for your life expectancy.

(And there goes the promise, too.)

Thought Rallen, as he looked at Jeena's burning blue eyes, his body aching while he sat in fetal position on the ground.

Irredeemable.

He couldn't even complain since he saw the issue with his "Hyperdrive initiated. Iku ze!"—moment, a while ago.

It was stupid not to remind everyone, most of all his copilot when he started the special engines, and he had to admit that he did lose a bit of control of the space ship a moment ago. But what else could he think about, when there is clearly something suspicious going on with the Krawl?.

(What should I do right now?!)

Thought Rallen helplessly, as he looked at Jeena.

Not that he would admit it, but Jeena looked really scary right now and he knew that she would make good on her promise, if he pushed her any further.

Aldous, meanwhile, was watching the spectacle from the sidelines while massaging his head with his left hand.

He too was surprised by the earlier trip, but didn't get as startled as Jeena had been a while a go. That's what his experience thought him after a long time of combat with the Krawl. however he would be lying, if he said that Rallen didn't deserve it.

The young spectrobes master was a bit too eager, maybe even naive. He had to think of a way to help Rallen build his character, since the looming threat will require him to show perseverance and clarity of thought.

(*sigh* there is much work for these old bones in the future….)

Lamented Aldous as he averted his gaze from the duo towards the little red furball to his side.

There on the seat next to him sat a red furred, slightly goofy looking, quadrupedal being with curled looking ears and blue lines accentuating it's features. It resembled a kind of fusion between a lion and a dog, but was anything but that. This being specifically is called a "Komainu".

This was a spectrobe, a being of light that harbors enormous potential within. If it wasn't for their existence, all beings might have no chance for survival against the Krawl.

Nobody knows how they came to be or what brought them to the infinite unknowns of the universe, just that they were created by something beyond ancient and advanced, in an age that has been tightly wrapped in secrets and mystery.

It was also because of their mystery that he decided to search for their origin and crash landed in the Nanairo star system, later on.

Truly lucky, but at what cost…

("All hope for driving away darkness lies in Nanairo"….i hope that is true, for all of us….)

Thought Aldous as he gently scratched the head of the little guy, causing it to give a happy grumble, while the old man succumbed to his resurfacing memories again.

Meanwhile he failed to notice that a slight spark suddenly ignited in the eyes of the little Komainu, as it looked at the projection of planet Nessa shown on cockpit's display.
