Chapter 50 - THE CURSED LOVE

"The Cursed Love"

Chapter 50

A sound of footsteps echoed through the grand hallway as a dark figure walked forward, his head held high, his eyes shining brighter than ever. The guards in dark armor stood at the corners, their heads bowing with every step he took.

He stopped before a massive door, which opened at his very presence. The heavy air of the room seemed to welcome him as he stepped inside.

"Ohh, son… what a surprise," a man said, seated proudly upon his throne. By his side sat a breathtaking woman, her beauty almost unreal. Her glow was as radiant as her smile, and her eyes shimmered with a rare mixture of blue and green.

"You arrived just in time," the man continued.

Damier walked into the throne room, his face hard and without emotion.

"What is this all about, Father?" he asked firmly.

"As you can see," the man said with pride, "your mother and I have found the perfect match for you, son."

He gestured toward the beautiful lady, his lips curling into a smile.

"Isn't she so beautiful? You know I always have good taste in women. The marriage will be arranged very soon."

The young woman bowed gracefully.

"My prince," she said softly, smiling as her long dark hair flowed like a river of night.

Damier didn't spare her a glance. Instead, he turned his sharp gaze back to his father.

"Father, I've told you countless times… I will not be with any woman other than her."

"You should already know this," Damier continued, his tone edged with frustration. "But you and Mother keep making these arrangements."

The king's expression shifted with anger, though he quickly forced a smile to cover it.

"Well, son… if you must know, she's dead. She will never be a part of this family. She is cursed, Damier… a cursed child born from her devilish mother's womb. An outcast."

His voice dripped with disdain.

"She's lucky she hides away like the coward she is. Otherwise, she would have shared the same fate as her so-called daughter. Tell me, son—what do you see in her? Can't you see the beauty standing in front of you? You're the prince of the underworld. You need someone powerful and worthy. You can't waste your heart crying over a dead girl."

Damier's jaw tightened. His voice cut through the air like a blade.

"Do not speak of Virelda that way. You may have a problem with her mother, but never her. She is not dead, Father. I found her, and I will bring her back to me."

The king's eyes widened with shock, then narrowed. He threw his head back and laughed loudly.

"You've truly lost your mind, son. You can't stay in the human world forever. She's gone. Dead. And you need to move on."

He leaned back on his throne, resting his hand under his chin.

"Sometimes I think that cursed woman ruined everything—filling my son's head with foolishness because of her daughter."

Damier's anger burned in his eyes, the tension in the room growing heavier with each passing moment. Then, the large door opened again, and the queen entered with a warm smile.

"Oh, Damier," she said sweetly, "you're here, my love."

Damier turned to her, and for the first time, his face softened.

"Hello, Mother."

Meanwhile, elsewhere, Theron walked closer with a sharp gaze.

"Where have you been, Kaelen? You can't just disappear without telling me."

Then he turned his attention to me.

"And what are you doing here, in the middle of the night? Getting yourself into trouble again?"

"No… I'm just looking around the place," I answered quietly.

Kaelen laughed softly, stepping in between.

"Theron, why can't you be more polite to her? You know she's a princess."

He turned to me with a playful smile.

I blinked in surprise.

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"Well… you look like one," Kaelen replied with a grin. "You know exactly what I mean."

"I don't really think so," I said with curiosity in my voice.

"You need to go to sleep now, princess," Theron said with a small smile.

I rolled my eyes at him, making Kaelen laugh even harder, clearly enjoying the small drama between us.

"My lady," Kaelen said gently, "you need proper rest tonight. Tomorrow, you can ask all the questions you've been holding back… because I know you're curious."

I couldn't help but smile back at him and nod. With that, I walked to my room. Closing the door behind me, I looked around slowly.

Something about this place… felt off.
