Chapter 184: Tsunade vs. Kabuto Yakushi
Orochimaru murmured a few soft words into Kabuto's ear.
Kabuto was startled when he heard the whispered information, his eyes shifting to Jiraiya and Tsunade across from them. "I can't believe they have such a fatal weakness."
"Hehe…" Orochimaru sneered. "Go, Kabuto. I'll leave Tsunade to you. I will deal with Jiraiya. Even with crippled hands, I can still toy with him."
"It seems this is the only way," Kabuto said, pushing up his glasses. "This will be my first time fighting a shinobi of the Sannin's level." He then suggested, "Lord Orochimaru, I recommend we lure them to another location first. In short, the farther away from Konoha, the better. This place is too close…"
"That makes sense," Orochimaru nodded approvingly. "You truly have a sharp mind."
As soon as he finished speaking, the two of them flickered away, fleeing into the distance.
"Don't even think about escaping!" Tsunade shouted angrily, immediately giving chase.
"Be careful, it's a trap, Tsunade!" Jiraiya called out anxiously. Seeing that Tsunade had no intention of slowing down, Jiraiya had no choice but to follow. He didn't blame her for her anger. This was likely their best chance to capture Orochimaru. If they let him escape now, there was no telling when they would meet again.
The group ran quickly, chasing one another through the dense forest. After crossing the woods, Orochimaru and Kabuto finally stopped in an open plain.
"Hah… hah…" Everyone's breathing was heavy and ragged.
"Hehe, you have to admit you're getting old, Tsunade," Orochimaru taunted. "Although you have a young face, your body is certainly aging." He then turned to Kabuto. "She has already used up a great deal of her energy. It's almost time to begin."
"I understand, Lord Orochimaru." Kabuto nodded, reaching into his pouch and taking out a military ration pill. "I am not skilled in taijutsu. To deal with her, I will need this to hold out for a while."
After swallowing the pill, Kabuto put his hands together, a green chakra gradually appearing and filling his palms.
"Medical ninjutsu?" Tsunade frowned slightly. "So you are also a medical ninja." Judging from the quality of the chakra, she knew that the man before her was no ordinary medic. She would have to respond with all her strength.
In the blink of an eye, Kabuto vanished. His arm suddenly shot out from the ground beneath Tsunade's feet. Tsunade leaped back quickly, dodging the sneak attack, then slammed her fist into the ground where he had been.
"What a quick reaction!" Kabuto was startled, barely avoiding Tsunade's devastating attack. He then quickly reappeared behind her, striking her right arm and thigh with both of his chakra-coated palms.
"Ngh!" Tsunade, unwilling to be outdone, spun around and landed a powerful punch to Kabuto's chest, sending him flying.
Kabuto endured the severe pain and stood up, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. "Fortunately, I protected my chest with some chakra before the battle," he said, breathing a sigh of relief. "Otherwise, I would not have been able to withstand that blow."
Tsunade was half-crouched on a large stone, clutching her right arm with her left hand. Damn it, he…!
Kabuto smiled, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Did you notice? I slightly severed the muscles in your bicep and thigh. This way… you should no longer be able to use that terrifying strength of yours."
Tsunade gritted her teeth. "Why didn't you use your chakra scalpel to attack my artery directly?"
"Hehehe…" Kabuto smiled mysteriously. "I'm no fool. If I had done that, I would have fallen right into your trap."
