The disappearance of the Main Rift did not end the fighting on Blue Sphere.
By the time the coalition's anchor formations had finished unloading the last trapped pressure from the closure site, reports were already arriving from the outer sectors. Demonic forces that had been positioned between the Main Rift network and the stronghold were moving again, some withdrawing toward the fortress while others were trying to gather with nearby remnants before the coalition could reorganize. Xuanyin compared those reports with the final reconnaissance from Celestara and Umbrel and refused to let the army dissolve into dozens of independent pursuit groups simply because the largest spatial threat on the planet was gone.
The coalition had spent too much of the campaign learning what happened when the Abyss was allowed enough time to gather scattered forces into another organized front. Xuanyin therefore kept the legions close enough to reinforce one another and directed the advance according to the routes the demons themselves were using toward the stronghold. Groups small enough to evade the larger formations were marked for Umbrel and Celestara observation rather than chased by entire legions, while any concentration large enough to threaten the coalition's movement was struck before it could settle into a defensive position.
Haotian remained near the center of the moving formations during the first hours after the Main Rift closure. The Heaven Sundering Trinity Scripture had already been released, and the Dao Palaces of the Universe, Creation, and Destruction had returned to their ordinary relationships with the three cores that sustained them. His left forearm remained bound from the earlier Demon General battle, his shoulder still carried a deep ache beneath repaired armor, and the wound along his side tightened whenever he turned too abruptly. None of those injuries prevented him from fighting, but Xuanyin had made it clear that he was not to spend the rest of the day eliminating enemies the surrounding legions could handle themselves.
Most of them did not need him.
The first large demonic group attempted to form along a broken road leading north-west toward the stronghold, using collapsed terrain and abandoned Abyss positions to protect the sides of its gathering formation. Blue Sphere's leading mixed teams did not charge straight into the center. They fixed the demons in place while Veridian Prime identified which parts of the ground could support movement, Marephoros widened the coalition's approach by redirecting the pressure created through the narrowest section, and Celestara denied the demons the height needed to reorganize from above.
Pyrelith entered only after the surrounding routes were clear enough that concentrated destruction would not collapse unstable ground beneath the coalition. Their attacks struck the portions of the demonic formation already exposed by Blue Sphere and Marephoros rather than scattering destructive force across the entire battlefield. The Abyss force tried to retreat once its center stopped holding, but Umbrel cultivators had already moved around the routes the commanders were using to carry orders toward the rear. The withdrawal became several smaller fights instead of one clean escape.
Tianlan kept the mobile reserve behind the leading legions rather than riding the first successful breakthrough. He used the two healthy Frost Rainbow Falcons only briefly, forming a sensory bond with one long enough to confirm where a demonic column was turning through broken ground before releasing the connection and returning his attention to the people around him. The second Falcon remained above another sector with Celestara long enough to identify movement behind a ridge, while the third stayed inside the coalition's recovery support and never entered combat.
The scattered fighting continued through the day without becoming another major battle.
Whenever the demons tried to collect enough people to establish a defensive line, the coalition attacked before that line became stable. Whenever a group attempted to disappear into damaged ground, Umbrel and Veridian Prime determined whether the route actually led somewhere useful before more cultivators were committed to the pursuit. Several smaller bands were destroyed by mixed teams without requiring Haotian, his wives, or the Immortal Lords to leave the central advance.
Lianhua remained with one of the western formations for much of the afternoon. Cloud-Sundering Steps carried her through the changing spaces between allied lines without forcing the surrounding cultivators to match her speed, while the Voidpierce Sword Sutra gave her enough control over distance to punish openings without abandoning the people she was supporting. Yinxue and Ziyue held another section where demonic cultivators repeatedly tried to use the broken terrain to create short counterattacks, and Xiangyin fought farther north where narrow approaches allowed her spear to keep several opponents from pressing the Blue Sphere lines at once.
Yueru spent less time chasing individual enemies than she might have earlier in the campaign. Stormwind Lightning Step allowed her to intercept fast-moving demons trying to leave one collapsing group and reach another, but she returned to the mixed teams after each movement instead of letting her speed carry her beyond their support. Shuyue moved between active sectors with healers and frontline formations, using her Virtue Dao Palace where a local collapse needed immediate support but allowing ordinary coalition cultivators to carry their own fights whenever they could.
Yanfei remained close to the technical groups during several engagements where the retreating demons attempted to destroy abandoned structures behind them. Her blacksmithing knowledge let her distinguish supports that would merely collapse local construction from frames whose destruction could destabilize the ground or discharge trapped formation pressure. Pyrelith waited for those assessments rather than treating every demonic structure as something that needed to be destroyed immediately.
By evening, the organized demonic presence outside the stronghold had been reduced to isolated groups too small to challenge the coalition directly.
Xuanyin still refused to call the region clear.
The first sweep had been a battle operation. The second would be verification.
The army established temporary rest positions without breaking its larger concentration, while the commanders compared every route that had produced unexplained movement during the day. Celestara marked the areas where small groups had disappeared from aerial view. Umbrel identified trenches, service paths, damaged formation shelters, and collapsed structures that could conceal survivors. Veridian Prime traced accessible underground conduits where demons might be hiding beneath terrain the coalition had already crossed.
Haotian did not open the Dao Palace of the Universe to solve the entire sweep for them.
He used it only when local specialists encountered something they could not determine safely through their own methods. One buried route beneath a ruined Abyss position appeared empty to Veridian Prime but carried enough spatial inconsistency that the terrain readers asked him to check it. Haotian followed the relationship below ground and confirmed that the route had collapsed farther inward rather than concealing a surviving transport connection.
The second sweep began before sunrise.
This time the formations moved more slowly.
They were not fighting toward a visible enemy line and could not assume that empty ground had already been checked simply because another legion had passed nearby the previous day. Blue Sphere divided the outer region into overlapping sectors and recorded each cleared area before allowing the sweep formations to move onward. Umbrel entered the spaces ordinary troops could not inspect easily, while Celestara maintained enough altitude to watch for anyone trying to use the coalition's own movement as cover for an escape.
The remaining demons were found in ones, pairs, and small groups.
Some fought immediately.
Others tried to remain hidden until the sweep formations passed.
One group had concealed itself beneath a collapsed supply shelter and almost succeeded because the structure carried enough residual Abyss pressure to mask their cultivation. Veridian Prime noticed that several roots growing through the damaged ground had been cut recently, and Umbrel entered through a side opening instead of ordering the entire structure destroyed.
The demons inside died before they could escape into the surrounding ruins.
Another group tried to reach the stronghold through an old maintenance trench after Celestara passed overhead. Tianlan received the report and redirected a nearby mixed team rather than taking the reserve himself. The team intercepted them before they reached the next ridge, and the fight ended without requiring any high-level cultivator to leave the central formation.
By late morning, the sweep had pushed far enough that the stronghold's defensive region became the natural limit of the operation.
Xuanyin did not send people closer merely to extend the cleared line by another few miles. Anything beyond that point either belonged directly to the stronghold's defensive environment or could be addressed when the fortress operation began. She wanted the army rested before the next phase rather than spending another day walking under enemy observation simply to prove there was nothing else to kill.
The final reports arrived gradually.
Celestara found no organized group moving beyond the sweep boundary.
Umbrel completed the last trench and shelter searches.
Veridian Prime confirmed that the accessible conduits outside the stronghold no longer carried functioning relationships that could move demonic forces around the coalition.
Blue Sphere closed the final sector on its map.
Only then did Xuanyin accept the result.
By the time the second sweep ended, there was little argument left over whether the coalition needed to remain outside through another night. The formations returning from the outer sectors had spent most of the previous day moving across damaged ground, checking collapsed Abyss positions, searching abandoned conduits, and killing the scattered demons that had survived the destruction of their larger groups. Even cultivators who had escaped serious wounds carried accumulated fatigue in their movements, and many of the technical specialists had been working with only short periods of rest since the Main Rift operation.
Xuanyin kept the army concentrated around the final cleared sector while the last reconnaissance reports were compared. Celestara confirmed that no organized demonic formation remained within the sweep boundary, and Umbrel had checked the trenches, collapsed maintenance routes, and broken control chambers that could conceal smaller groups. Tianlan's two healthy Frost Rainbow Falcons remained above the outer edge of the cleared area while those reports were being completed, but even they were allowed to descend once Celestara took over the final observation routes.
The third Falcon remained farther behind with the recovery formations.
Haotian listened to the final sector reports beside Xuanyin without opening the Dao Palace of the Universe again unless one of the specialists found something that required confirmation. His cores had settled after the Main Rift closure, but the strain from the Heaven Sundering Trinity Scripture had not disappeared simply because the operation had succeeded. None of his remaining injuries prevented him from fighting, but there was no reason to spend more strength proving that when the battlefield had already been cleared.
Xuanyin closed the sweep map after the last Umbrel team reported in.
"We have enough confirmation," she said while the commanders around her waited for the next movement order. "The outer region is clean, and anything remaining beyond it is either inside the stronghold or close enough to fall under the stronghold operation. We stop here, rotate the wounded, and move the army into the Dao Palace of Creation."
The order spread through the coalition without producing the urgency that had accompanied earlier redeployments. Blue Sphere commanders reorganized the mixed teams so the wounded and exhausted were placed where they could enter without crossing active equipment lines, while Marephoros collected the temporary receiving arrays that could still be reused. Veridian Prime marked unstable areas around the assembly ground so thousands of cultivators would not trample fractured terrain while forming up.
Haotian waited until those preparations were almost complete before opening access to the Dao Palace of Creation.
The inner-world domain did not appear as a building standing somewhere on the battlefield. Space opened under Haotian's control into the living expanse anchored within the core of his sea of consciousness, and the stable passage widened only after he confirmed that the receiving area inside Creation could accommodate the first formations. The Law of Equilibrium kept the transition stable while the opening expanded enough for organized groups to pass without compressing thousands of people into one narrow route.
The most seriously wounded entered first.
Healers from Blue Sphere, Veridian Prime, the Nine Celestial Sects, and the other coalition factions had already divided them according to the treatment they required, and Liora moved with the first groups to make sure no one was lost between battlefield triage and the recovery areas prepared inside Creation. Cultivators who could walk under their own strength entered beside those who needed support, while the worst cases were carried on formation stretchers that remained stable through the spatial passage.
Haotian held the entrance steady and let the medical teams set the pace.
Shuyue remained near the passage with the healers while the wounded crossed. Her Virtue Dao Palace had been used repeatedly through the Main Rift closure and the following sweep, so she did not waste strength sustaining people who were already stable enough to move under their own power. Instead, she helped whenever a cultivator's circulation became irregular during transport and handed the patient back to the medical teams once the immediate problem settled.
Yanfei entered with one of the technical groups later in the procession.
The blacksmith and formation crews carried salvaged control plates, damaged anchor components, weapons awaiting repair, and enough cracked equipment that several storage areas inside Creation had already been designated for sorting. Yanfei had refused to abandon pieces that could still teach them something about how the Main Rift anchor system had behaved under lateral spatial strain. Shuyue told her to put the warped housings down once they reached the storage area and sleep before deciding which ones needed to be cut apart.
The ordinary coalition formations entered after the wounded and specialists.
Mixed twelve-member teams stayed together whenever casualties had not broken their original composition, while incomplete teams were kept beside the legions they had fought with rather than being reorganized immediately. Xuanyin specifically prohibited large-scale reassignment during the transfer because exhausted commanders were more likely to create confusion than improve the army by rebuilding its structure in the middle of the night.
Tianlan remained outside until most of the mobile formations had passed through.
He kept one healthy Falcon on the ground near him while the second remained above the assembly area with Celestara's last observers, watching the distant approaches for any movement that suggested the demons were willing to leave the protection of the stronghold. No such force appeared. Once the rear Blue Sphere formations reported that the battlefield had been cleared of personnel and usable equipment, Tianlan called the remaining Falcon down and entered with both healthy birds.
The recovering third Falcon was already inside Creation.
Tianlan checked on it before going anywhere near the command groups or sleeping quarters. The bird remained unable to join serious combat, but its condition had continued improving during the days it spent away from the front. He did not test its wings or try to determine whether another day of rest might make it useful for the stronghold.
The healers had already told him that being capable of standing, feeding, and moving normally did not mean it was ready for sustained combat flight.
Haotian entered near the end.
Xuanyin remained with him while Blue Sphere completed the final count outside, comparing the number of legions, mixed teams, wounded, specialists, and high-level cultivators against the records made before the sweep. The count was not ceremonial; too many people had moved between healer groups, technical formations, and reserve units during the previous two days for Xuanyin to assume everyone had entered merely because the battlefield looked empty. Only after the records matched did she tell Haotian there was nothing left outside that needed to be brought in.
He closed the passage behind them.
The change in environment was immediate without needing to be dramatic. Outside, the coalition had spent days surrounded by broken stone, dead conduits, rift pressure, burned ground, and the expectation of another demonic formation appearing over the next ridge. Inside the Dao Palace of Creation, the air carried none of that accumulated corruption, and the receiving area had been kept clear enough for the army to spread without immediately crowding into one another.
People still limped away from the receiving ground.
Healers still carried the badly wounded toward prepared treatment areas, and cultivators who had forced themselves through the final sweep often sat down as soon as they were told where their legion had been assigned. The difference was that none of them had to keep half of their attention on the horizon while doing it.
Xuanyin went directly to the internal command area rather than resting.
Blue Sphere officers had already begun transferring the updated casualty lists and equipment reports there, and she wanted the army's condition recorded before people slept long enough for temporary exhaustion to be confused with deeper injuries. Haotian followed her for only part of the process before she told him that she did not need the person who had just maintained the Main Rift closure standing over every inventory list.
"You need to recover too."
Haotian looked at the reports beside her.
"If something on these pages requires your attention, I know where to find you."
He left.
The healers were waiting for him before he reached the family recovery area.
The bandage around his forearm came off first, revealing that the deeper cut had closed well enough to stop bleeding but had not healed enough to tolerate careless strain. The side wound had also remained stable, while the bruising through his shoulder and upper torso was still obvious beneath the armor once it was removed. His physical condition was better than several of the high-level cultivators already being treated nearby, but the healers were more concerned with the fatigue carried through his three cores after the prolonged synchronization of the Heaven Sundering Trinity Scripture.
They examined his circulation without forcing recovery through a large external infusion.
The three cores had returned to their normal independent rhythms, and none showed damage, but all had been driven hard enough that restoring them required time rather than another technique. Haotian accepted the assessment and remained still while the forearm was cleaned, treated, and rebound.
Lianhua found him during the treatment.
She had changed out of damaged armor, and the healer assigned to her had already wrapped a shallow wound along one arm. She asked what the examination showed and listened while the healer explained that Haotian's cores were stable but fatigued, his forearm needed to remain protected, and the shoulder would benefit from at least a full day without unnecessary combat strain. Haotian did not interrupt the explanation even when Lianhua's expression made clear she intended to remember every instruction.
Yinxue arrived not long afterward, followed by Yueru and Shuyue once their own duties were finished.
None of them turned the recovery area into an extended discussion of the stronghold. Xuanyin had already made clear that operational planning would not begin until the army had slept and the medical reports showed how many people were truly available. Yueru asked whether the Main Rift closure had affected Haotian's cores more than the Demon General battle had affected his body, and the healer answered before Haotian could reduce the problem to something unimportant.
Tianlan arrived after checking the Falcons and receiving treatment for several smaller injuries of his own.
He had a shallow cut along one side and bruising through both hands from repeated spear engagements, but nothing serious enough to keep him out of the coming operation. He sat nearby while the healer wrapped one palm and reported that the two active Falcons were tired rather than injured. The third remained in recovery and would stay there unless its healers made a different assessment later.
The family did not remain awake much longer.
Food had been prepared inside Creation for the returning forces, but even cultivators who no longer depended on ordinary meals benefited from restoring physical energy after so many consecutive battles. They ate enough to settle their bodies and allowed the healers to finish before separating to rest.
Across the Dao Palace of Creation, the same process occurred on a much larger scale.
Legions were assigned to recovery areas based on their existing organization, healers moved among them and marked anyone who needed more than sleep, and blacksmiths sorted damaged equipment without attempting to repair everything immediately. Blue Sphere commanders submitted preliminary strength reports and were then ordered away from the command area once Xuanyin had enough information to know which units required the most attention the following day.
Morning did not begin with a general assembly.
Xuanyin had prohibited commanders from waking their formations simply because they were accustomed to operating on military schedules, and the order remained in place until the healers finished the first round of examinations. Entire sections of the coalition stayed quiet long after the internal day brightened, with exhausted cultivators sleeping through hours they normally would have spent meditating, training, or maintaining defensive formations.
Haotian woke later than he usually allowed himself.
The fatigue in his three cores had eased during sleep, but the improvement was uneven enough that he noticed it as soon as he began circulating cultivation through them. The heart core responded cleanly, while the cores within his sea of consciousness and dantian required several additional cycles before their rhythms settled into the balance he expected. He stopped there instead of testing the Heaven Sundering Trinity Scripture simply to determine whether he could still use it.
The healer who had treated him the previous night arrived before he finished examining his own condition.
She removed the wrapping from his left forearm and found the wound closed well enough that the surrounding tissue no longer pulled apart when he flexed his hand, though the deeper portion still required protection. The bruising through his shoulder had begun fading and his side wound remained clean, but she cared more about the way his cultivation responded when she asked him to circulate through each core separately. After several checks, she told him the strain was recovering normally and warned him again that normal recovery was not the same thing as complete recovery.
Haotian accepted the new bandage without arguing.
Lianhua was already awake when he left the treatment area. Yinxue sat nearby with her repaired sword laid across her knees while she inspected the edge rather than cultivating, and Ziyue was eating with enough concentration that she apparently had no interest in pretending immortal cultivation removed the usefulness of food after several days of fighting. Shuyue had not appeared yet.
Yueru arrived carrying two bowls and complained that Shuyue had refused to wake up even after being told breakfast had been prepared.
Lianhua asked whether she had actually tried waking her.
Yueru admitted that she had opened the door, seen Shuyue asleep, and decided survival instincts were more important than breakfast.
Ziyue glanced up from her meal. "Probably the wisest decision you made during the campaign."
Yueru gave her a tired look.
Tianlan arrived later from the Falcon recovery area.
The two healthy birds had recovered much of their fatigue after sleep and feeding, though he planned to keep them resting for most of the day rather than allowing them to fly simply because they could. The third Falcon continued improving but remained under the healers' restrictions. When Yueru asked whether it was becoming impatient with being kept away from the other two, Tianlan said the bird had tried to follow him as far as the edge of the treatment ground before the healer sent it back.
Haotian asked whether Tianlan had used a sensory bond with the recovering Falcon.
"No. There is nothing I need to see badly enough to make it work."
Haotian nodded.
Xuanyin did not appear during the meal.
She had slept only after several Blue Sphere commanders threatened to continue submitting reports until she stopped reading them, and she had awakened early enough to resume reviewing the army's condition before most of Haotian's family left their recovery areas. When Lianhua asked whether someone should remind her that the recovery order applied to command personnel as well, Haotian said he suspected several people had already tried.
The army became more active by late morning.
Healers began releasing cultivators from stricter observation while ordering others back to bed despite their insistence that they could already return to formation duty. Blue Sphere converted the preliminary strength reports into categories that mattered more than raw headcount: fit for full combat, fit for limited duty, another day of recovery required, or unavailable for the stronghold operation.
The mixed twelve-member teams received particular attention.
Some remained complete despite the campaign, while others had lost one or more people to wounds severe enough that those cultivators could not return immediately. Xuanyin refused to fill every vacancy on the first morning. Cultivators who had fought together across multiple battles understood one another's movement, timing, and habits, and replacing a missing member with whoever happened to be available could weaken a team more than operating temporarily below full strength.
Marephoros commanders spent more time watching how people moved and circulated after waking than asking whether they felt rested.
Several cultivators who claimed full recovery still showed delayed balance changes when shifting weight or turning, signs that repeated pressure work around the Main Rift had left deeper fatigue through their bodies. Those cultivators were sent back to rest before they could convince themselves that several hours of meditation had solved the problem.
Veridian Prime concentrated on terrain specialists and healers.
Many of the terrain readers had spent consecutive operations working through roots or direct contact with damaged ground, exhausting perception in ways less obvious than sword wounds or broken armor. Liora helped examine them throughout the morning and restricted several from terrain work for the day even though they were otherwise healthy enough to fight.
Pyrelith found another kind of strain among people who had spent days controlling destructive output tightly enough to avoid damaging structures carrying dangerous rift burdens. Celestara grounded cultivators who still showed spatial disorientation after maintaining vertical anchor references around the Main Rift. Umbrel stopped its scouts from turning recovery into concealment training and ordered Veil Shroud and Silent Flow left unused for the day.
Haotian walked through several recovery sectors during the afternoon.
He did not arrive with a large escort or demand formal reports. What he saw matched Xuanyin's numbers: the coalition remained overwhelmingly powerful, but much of that strength needed time before it could be used efficiently again. People who had survived without serious wounds still carried enough accumulated fatigue that attacking the stronghold immediately would be wasteful.
Several cultivators asked when the assault would begin.
Haotian gave them the same answer Xuanyin had already distributed through command.
Not that day.
The army would move when the people responsible for healing and readiness were satisfied, not when impatience made everyone feel guilty for resting.
Haotian found Tianlan later near the Falcons.
The two healthy birds rested together on a broad patch of open ground, while the recovering third remained farther away under observation but could see them clearly. Tianlan was studying his spear shaft and replacing one damaged binding near the grip.
Haotian sat nearby and asked how his hands felt.
Tianlan flexed them before answering that the bruising remained but no longer affected his grip.
After a short silence, he asked, "Do you think the stronghold will be harder than the Main Rift?"
Haotian considered the question. "Different. The rift was a system we had to understand before we could close it. The stronghold is full of enemies who can change their decisions while we are attacking."
"So the walls are not the biggest problem."
"No."
"The people behind them are."
"And where they can move."
Tianlan nodded.
Shuyue finally appeared well into the afternoon and looked considerably better after sleeping longer than almost everyone else in the family. She showed no embarrassment about it. When Yueru complained that she had missed breakfast, Shuyue answered that she had also missed several hours of being tired, which she considered a good trade.
Yanfei joined the blacksmiths once the healers cleared her for light work and immediately tried to disassemble one of the warped Main Rift anchor housings herself. The senior blacksmith responsible for the equipment removed the tool from her hand and told her she could inspect, mark, and explain but not spend the afternoon hammering metal because sitting still irritated her. Yanfei complained but eventually accepted the restriction when he reminded her that her hands had been trembling slightly after the previous night's repairs.
Xuanyin finally left the command area near evening.
She had enough information to know the coalition needed at least another full day before serious stronghold planning began. Most lightly wounded cultivators would become combat-capable after another night, while several formations carrying deeper exhaustion needed the additional time before their commanders could judge them properly.
Haotian found her eating while still reading one casualty report.
He sat across from her and removed it from her hand.
Xuanyin looked at him.
"You walked around the recovery areas today."
"I did."
"So you ignored the part where you were told to rest."
"I walked."
"You inspected an army."
"I did not make them line up."
Xuanyin reached for the report.
Haotian moved it farther away.
She stared at him for several breaths and continued eating.
When she finished, Xuanyin explained what the readiness reports showed. The coalition had enough immediately healthy cultivators to attack if circumstances forced them to, but doing so the next morning would mean leaving too many recoverable people behind or pushing them into battle before they regained full control of their strength. Another day would return a significant portion of those cultivators without materially benefiting the stronghold.
Haotian agreed.
Xuanyin set the unread report aside.
"Tomorrow stays recovery. I want the healers to finalize availability by evening. The following morning we start formal planning."
The decision spread through the army before night.
Commanders were told not to organize combat drills on the second recovery day and not to begin independent stronghold planning beyond gathering maps, reconnaissance records, and formation information already available. Technical teams could repair essential equipment, blacksmiths could restore damaged weapons and armor, and healers would continue updating readiness classifications. Anything resembling an assault rehearsal would wait until an actual plan existed.
The second recovery day passed more quietly.
By its end, most lightly wounded cultivators had returned to full duty, and the deeper fatigue carried by many technical specialists had improved enough for commanders to make reliable decisions about them. Several severe casualties remained unavailable and were simply removed from the stronghold roster. Xuanyin refused to build a plan around the assumption that everyone would recover because the numbers looked better that way.
Formal planning began the following morning.
The command area had been reorganized around the information gathered since the stronghold entered the coalition's operational plans. Blue Sphere maps showed walls, gates, towers, surrounding ridges, and the portions of the exterior observed repeatedly during the rift campaign. Umbrel reports added maintenance routes, concealed approaches, patrol changes, and several places where the outer defenses had been altered since the Abyss began pulling surviving forces back toward the stronghold.
Celestara supplied the latest aerial observations.
Veridian Prime marked terrain that could support large formations and areas where old conduits or unstable ground would make a concentrated assault more difficult.
Xuanyin did not ask anyone to propose an attack immediately.
The first discussion concerned what they actually knew.
The stronghold had remained active while the outer network collapsed, and the demons inside had received enough time to understand that the Main Rift was gone and no surviving army outside the walls would relieve them. Patrol behavior from several days earlier was therefore treated as a starting point rather than a promise.
Celestara reported heavier occupation along the walls than before.
Demonic formations had concentrated near major gates, additional personnel occupied towers that previously carried only formation crews, and smaller groups moved regularly between the outer defenses and the deeper stronghold. Construction activity around several damaged points suggested repair rather than abandonment.
Umbrel's scouts had confirmed that several concealed exterior passages remained in use, but the number of guards around those routes had increased.
"They are expecting the war to reach the walls," one scout said while pointing to three maintenance approaches. "Anything that depended on nobody getting this far is being watched now."
The first proposed approach involved surrounding the stronghold before committing to one major breach.
Blue Sphere officers argued that the coalition could prevent escape while concentrating the largest assault against whichever gate or wall section proved weakest. Tianlan studied the distances between sectors and asked how quickly reserves could move if the demons attacked two containment points together. The answer depended too heavily on difficult terrain and aerial transport under defensive fire.
"A containment ring wide enough to survive attacks from the walls is also wide enough to dilute us," Tianlan said.
Xuanyin did not discard containment.
She changed the question.
They did not need equal numbers everywhere around the stronghold if several exterior routes were naturally poor escape paths. Celestara and Veridian Prime were assigned to compare likely breakout routes with terrain that could actually support mass movement.
Pyrelith raised the possibility of creating a wall breach instead of accepting the defenders' gates.
Nobody doubted they could destroy a section of wall.
The concern was what the wall carried.
Several exterior structures remained integrated with defensive relationships the coalition had never mapped completely. Breaking the wrong section could collapse routes inward, trigger prepared countermeasures, or announce the coalition's entry point long enough for the demons to concentrate behind it.
Haotian summarized the problem plainly.
"The question is not whether we can tear down the wall. The question is whether doing that improves the ground the army receives afterward."
The major gates received more attention after that.
They were wide enough to admit large formations without destroying mixed-team relationships, but they were also the most heavily prepared defensive positions. Celestara had seen layered troops behind the visible gatehouses, and Umbrel suspected internal killing zones had been prepared beyond at least two.
Lianhua asked whether the mechanisms could be reached from outside without destroying them.
Umbrel believed an infiltration group might reach the controls from inside the wall structure, but the important approaches were now more heavily watched. Opening a gate from outside would therefore become an operation of its own.
Yueru suggested attacking the eastern towers to pull defenders away from another entry point.
Celestara answered that any aerial action strong enough to force a major response would become a real battle rather than a harmless distraction.
Yinxue identified the deeper problem.
If the coalition weakened the main assault enough to make a diversion convincing, it would recreate the same fragmentation they were trying to avoid.
Xuanyin told the planners to stop using the word diversion unless the supposedly secondary force had an objective worth accomplishing even if the demons ignored it.
That changed the discussion.
Celestara could suppress towers along a chosen entry route and still reduce aerial pressure.
Umbrel could attack observation and control positions that mattered regardless of enemy reaction.
Pyrelith could threaten hardened exterior structures while remaining ready to destroy them if other methods failed.
Tianlan spent more time examining what happened after entry than how the wall was opened.
He asked Blue Sphere how quickly the mixed twelve-member teams could reform into legion-scale relationships after passing through a gate or breach. The answer depended heavily on how much room existed inside. A breach that admitted thousands of cultivators but delivered them into one narrow interior road could be worse than several smaller entry points with predictable terrain.
Umbrel therefore received another assignment.
They needed to determine as much as possible about the ground immediately behind the walls.
By the end of the first planning day, the coalition had not chosen an entry route.
Xuanyin considered that useful.
They had eliminated several attractive assumptions and identified which information actually mattered.
The following morning brought better reconstructions from Umbrel.
The major gates appeared to open into broad internal avenues designed to move large demonic formations between the walls and the deeper stronghold. Those avenues contained defensive intersections rather than one endless killing route. The concealed maintenance paths were much narrower, suitable for infiltrators or small teams but useless as the main entry for thousands of cultivators.
The wall itself also carried internal movement routes.
Defenders could travel along the fortifications and descend through stairways without exposing themselves to the exterior battlefield. Taking one wall sector would not isolate the defenders there unless the coalition also controlled the routes leading inward.
Haotian asked whether any maintenance route reached directly behind a major gate.
Umbrel identified two possibilities, neither certain enough to support the entire assault.
Xuanyin did not authorize an infiltration yet.
Every trip outside Creation created a chance of discovery, and the army still had enough information to continue planning without risking scouts simply because one route appeared promising.
Three broad concepts remained by the second planning day: force one major gate, create a controlled wall breach, or infiltrate enough people to open larger access from inside.
Xuanyin required all three to be judged by the same practical questions.
How many cultivators could enter during the opening phase?
How much room would they have afterward?
Could the demons concentrate faster than the coalition?
What happened if the first entry stalled?
How quickly could healers and technical groups follow?
How much did each method depend on information already several days old?
The major gate performed better than expected in several tests.
If opened intact, it gave mixed formations enough width to maintain relationships while entering. The difficulty remained reaching the gate mechanism without first fighting under the strongest prepared defenses.
A wall breach offered more freedom over where the battle began, but two physically vulnerable sectors both led to interior terrain that reduced the benefit.
Infiltration offered the greatest chance of bypassing the outer defenses and the smallest margin for error.
Haotian spent more time studying that possibility.
The idea of reaching the interior before the larger battle began interested him because it addressed the coalition's worst problem: the walls determined where thousands of cultivators could enter. At first he still thought of the solution as an ordinary spatial passage opened after an infiltration team created a foothold.
He asked Blue Sphere how much ground a receiving passage would require.
The elder answered that the first formations needed enough room to emerge without overlapping, while the passage itself had to remain stable under the stronghold's formations. A small infiltration team could manage it more easily than an army.
Haotian accepted the answer and continued studying the interior assembly areas.
The thought remained incomplete until the others left the command area later that evening.
The coalition was already inside the Dao Palace of Creation.
Haotian remained with the stronghold map long after the formal planning session ended because every conventional plan still returned to the same limitation. No matter whether they used a gate, breach, or captured control point, thousands of cultivators eventually had to cross the stronghold boundary through the opening they created.
Creation existed outside that assumption.
The cultivators resting throughout his inner world were not standing outside the fortress walls at all. Their next physical position on Blue Sphere would be determined by where Haotian opened the passage that allowed them to leave.
He stopped looking at the gate widths.
The interior assembly areas became more important.
If Haotian could enter alone, confirm enough usable space, and open the Dao Palace of Creation from inside the stronghold, the army would never need to pass physically through the outer wall.
He distrusted the simplicity enough to examine every weakness before taking it to Xuanyin.
The receiving ground could be occupied.
Stronghold formations could interfere with the passage.
A large opening could be detected.
The first cultivators emerging from Creation needed enough room to protect the passage before thousands more followed.
The preferred assembly ground might be unusable by the time he reached it.
Only after those questions produced possible answers did he carry the interior map to Xuanyin.
She watched him move the exterior markers away from the walls.
"The whole plan keeps assuming the army has to cross from outside," Haotian said. "It does not. If I get inside and reach a suitable area, I can open Creation there."
Xuanyin looked at the map rather than reacting immediately.
"What happens if the assembly ground is occupied?"
"I use another."
"If the stronghold formations interfere?"
"I test the area before opening anything large."
"And if you are discovered before that?"
"I leave, change approach, or deal with it only if I can do so without alerting the stronghold."
Xuanyin studied him.
"You are assuming you go alone."
"Yes."
The reasoning was straightforward.
One person was easier to conceal than a group.
Haotian had studied Umbrel's established systems deeply enough to use Veil Shroud — Empty Silhouette and Silent Flow — Soundless Crossing without needing an Umbrel escort beside him. Their scouts could prepare his information and routes while Haotian adapted locally once he saw what had changed.
Xuanyin called Blue Sphere after the concept survived the first questions.
The formation elder who arrived initially thought she was asking about another gate arrangement, then spent several minutes recalculating once Haotian explained the Creation deployment. His first instinct was to send a large defensive force through immediately.
Xuanyin asked whether a circle around the passage made sense if the receiving ground had only a few real access routes.
The deployment began changing before anyone left the room.
The first wave would need enough Blue Sphere structure to protect the opening, mixed-team strength to control major approaches, Marephoros cultivators distributed among the threat directions, Veridian Prime early enough to inspect the receiving ground, and selected high-level cultivators capable of preventing one powerful defender from breaking the foothold before later waves emerged.
Tianlan joined once the discussion reached internal movement.
He focused on the wall routes.
"If we are already inside, we can take the gate controls from behind."
Xuanyin traced the connection.
"And keep the gates closed."
That changed containment entirely.
Instead of spreading legions around every section of the stronghold exterior, the coalition could capture useful wall routes from inside and deny the defenders their easiest exits. The fortress itself would restrict demonic movement while the coalition stayed concentrated through connected internal routes.
The gates did not become immediate objectives.
Tianlan pointed out that taking them too quickly with isolated forces would simply scatter the coalition across the fortress. Xuanyin agreed. Wall control mattered only after the receiving area and neighboring routes were secure enough that the gate formations remained connected to the main army.
Umbrel joined the meeting and focused on Haotian's infiltration.
