"The nobles from last night's gathering," she said without preamble. "Several houses have requested to stay and observe your match with Thorne today. I've granted permission."
"How many?"
"House Vexmore, House Aldric, House Ashford, and three others. They heard about the challenge last night and decided to extend their visits." Duchess Arabella's expression was neutral. "This changes the nature of the match. It's no longer just you putting an arrogant boy in his place. It's a public demonstration of House Cross capabilities."
William sat down, processing that. "So I need to win well."
