Adrian's POV
My heart thundered in my chest as I sat down, rooted to the spot beside Lizabeth.
She always had a way of making me lose myself in thoughts like this. Thinking of answers to give to her most randomly popped questions.
"Who's Amelia to you, Adrian?"
"Amelia?" I repeated, confused by the name. It rang familiar, yet I couldn't place where I had heard it before.
"Yes, Adrian. Your assistant," she added, her eyes narrowing on me with suspicion.
"Ohhh," realization hit as I forced the food down my throat, trying to act as though nothing was wrong. We were in the office café and people sat around us, eating as it was lunch break.
"Amelia is my assistant," I repeated carefully, testing her tone. "She's been abroad for some years now, ever since I was still an intern in the company. She's one of my most trusted persons." I confessed, gauging her expression, trying to understand why she suddenly asked me this.
