"Such a headache..."
Looking at the information displayed on the screen before him, Duanmu Huai could not help but scratch his head.
After acquiring divine authorities, the way his attributes progressed had become completely different from before.
Or rather…
There was no point allocation at all.
In the past, as an Inquisitor, Duanmu Huai gained 1 free attribute point every two levels. But divine authorities worked differently—upon leveling up, they automatically increased relevant attributes instead of letting the player choose.
From the current values, God of Destruction primarily increased Strength and Constitution, while God of Desire increased Agility and Perception.
Each divine authority could be leveled up to 20.
Which meant that, from the current perspective, reaching max level would look like this:
[Inquisitor (LV40)]
+[God of Destruction (LV20)]
+[God of Desire (LV20)]
+[OO God (LV20)]
+[XX God (LV20)]
= LV120
Roughly that kind of progression path.
However, what truly gave Duanmu Huai a headache wasn't just that—but experience absorption.
In Star Sea OL, multiclassing had always existed. After completing quests, players gained shared experience points, which they could freely allocate into any class they wanted to level.
Divine authorities were completely different.
Not only did they absorb experience independently…
They even decided the distribution themselves.
For example, when Duanmu Huai engaged in slaughter and warfare, all the experience gained would be poured into God of Destruction. God of Desire wouldn't get a single point.
Thinking about it carefully, it actually made sense.
If you're a god but don't even do things related to your own domain, isn't that dereliction of duty? What's the point of holding that divine authority?
It was like a company department—if accounting doesn't do bookkeeping, are they supposed to make tea instead? No matter how well you brew tea, accounting won't gain experience points for bookkeeping, right?
And so…
The problem appeared.
Leveling God of Destruction was easy.
But the question was—
How the hell do you level up God of Desire?
Duanmu Huai conducted several experiments and eventually discovered that…
God of Desire could only gain experience by doing things that couldn't be described within 300 words.
For example, what he did with Kentō Kanami…
Basically earned 10 EXP per time…
That's nowhere near enough, alright?!
Am I supposed to learn from Zeus and spread my seed across the world? This is—
Just thinking about it gives me a headache…
After all, he wasn't Zeus, and he couldn't shapeshift.
And considering all the "fatherly love" incidents in Greek mythology…
Duanmu Huai had absolutely no intention of learning from Zeus.
That was just asking for suffering.
"Forget it. I'll put that aside for now."
Duanmu Huai silently tossed the issue to the back of his mind, then reached out and tapped Astartes Combat Training and Ecclesiarchy Siege Doctrine on the system panel.
Soon, a system prompt appeared before him.
[Two class skills detected at maximum level. Advance?]
"Of course."
Duanmu Huai gave a quick glance and answered immediately.
[Select Advancement]
As his words fell, a bright light suddenly erupted from his body. Moments later, it faded away, and a new system prompt appeared before his eyes.
[Advancement Complete — Please Select Advanced Skills — Selection Complete]
[Inquisitor (LV40)] advanced to [Grand Inquisitor (LV40)]
[Astartes Combat Training MAX] advanced to [Death Cult Mastery LV1]
[Ecclesiarchy Siege Doctrine MAX] advanced to [Catachan Survival Training LV1]
"Phew..."
Feeling the power and knowledge surging through his body, Duanmu Huai opened his eyes and let out a long breath.
Class advancement was one of the more troublesome system mechanics in the game.
Simply put, a player had to raise a specific class specialization to maximum level before being eligible to advance.
For the base Inquisitor class, the advancement path was:
Grand Inquisitor → Mentor → Grand Mentor → Inquisition Council Representative
These advanced classes didn't provide massive stat increases.
But they were absolutely essential.
The reason was simple—
Authority.
Although the Human Empire had fallen, its relics and facilities still slumbered across many planets.
If a player wanted to access certain installations or open specific containers, authority level mattered greatly.
Otherwise, after fighting through hell to reach an ancient ruin, being told "Insufficient clearance" would be soul-crushing.
For players, advancing their class was extremely important.
Fortunately, reaching Grand Mentor wasn't too difficult.
Only Inquisition Council Representative required an absurdly long, tedious, dangerous, and sanity-destroying quest chain.
But honestly—
As long as you weren't going to Terra to attend the High Lords' Council, Grand Mentor was more than enough.
Besides…
Terra was gone.
What use were the High Lords anyway?
Among the advanced skills, Duanmu Huai deliberately chose Death Cult Mastery and Catachan Survival Training.
The reason was simple—they synergized perfectly with his Aura of Terror.
Death Cult Mastery increased critical hit chance and critical damage.
In plain terms, it made enemies more likely to be turned into shredded chunks—forcing survivors to witness horrifying corpses, drastically lowering morale and increasing fear and panic duration.
Catachan Survival Training, on the other hand, increased resistance through suppression.
The lower the enemy's morale—the more frightened, panicked, cursed, or poisoned they were—the higher Duanmu Huai's defense and resistance became, making suppression even easier.
This was exactly why he chose these two skills.
Use Death Cult Mastery to keep enemies permanently terrified and panicked.
Then use Catachan Survival Training to boost his own durability and strength.
A perfect fear loop.
There's no way out anymore.
Guess I'll just go with it…
After completing his advancement, Duanmu Huai left the room and entered the tactical command center, casually reviewing recent reports.
The universe had been relatively calm lately.
Which was obvious—less than a month had passed. World-ending disasters didn't happen every day.
One noteworthy update involved the Guardian civilization.
After purchasing several warships from Duanmu Huai, Guardian-aligned humanity finally got a taste of dominating space.
Previously, when fighting other alien races in the Guardian system, the lack of capital ships forced Guardians to deploy small strike craft for decapitation raids or small squad ground engagements.
Now?
With warships at their disposal, they didn't have to suffer like before.
Fallen, Vex, Cabal—
If they dared cause trouble, the response was simple: send a warship, carpet-bomb the surface, then let the Guardians clean up.
The feeling was fantastic.
According to the Guardian Tower Council, if not for current shortages in funds and manpower, they'd seriously consider buying a few more cruisers from Duanmu Huai.
Elsewhere, things remained peaceful.
At least for now, there was no need for the Inquisition to intervene.
Hmm…
With that thought, Duanmu Huai made a decision.
I'll head back to Duel City again and figure out how to level up God of Desire.
Honestly…
He didn't think it would be easy.
"So… where should I go?"
Returning to Duel City, Duanmu Huai looked at the city before him and fell into thought.
So far, this "game core" hadn't been too heavily affected by the MOD—but it wasn't untouched either.
He still remembered the Battle God Tournament that Mary Rose had been dragged into.
That had clearly been one of the MOD's corrupting influences.
Back then, he hadn't realized how deeply connected it was to this world.
Duanmu Huai had no intention of letting this place collapse.
He needed a solution.
The best solution was obvious—
Kill the so-called Creator God, reclaim control of the world, and permanently end the Demon King–Hero game.
Only then could this world return to peace and stability, instead of descending into chaos—or outright collapse.
"Hmm..."
After thinking for a moment, Duanmu Huai made up his mind.
If all else failed, he'd start by visiting Lisas again.
At the very least, as a local, Princess Lia should be far more familiar with the situation there than he was.
