Duanmu Huai charged into the dining hall like a thug, flipping the table in front of him in one go and storming toward the succubus like a bandit. She lashed her whip at him in anger, while at the same time, the others rushed in and began fighting the other enemies.
Back in the game, Duanmu Huai never particularly hated any of the evil gods—he thought they were all the same anyway. But now, he realized the ones he hated most were the followers of the God of Desire.
You've got the nerve to look down on me? You think you're that good-looking? Look at that wannabe-punk upturned braid of yours, that disgusting rat-like tail, those goat hooves, and that ugly mug you can't even show without an illusion. And you dare look down on me? You really think you're a beauty, huh?
You sow!
"Boom!!"
Duanmu Huai swung his hammer down, but the succubus dodged to the side. The Thunder Warhammer whistled past her and smashed into the barrel behind. She flicked her wrist, the whip in her hand striking against Duanmu Huai's power armor—of course, it had no effect.
Of the four evil gods' followers, the God of Desire's worshippers specialized in mental and psychic attacks, but were mediocre in physical offense, and terrible at breaking armor. Aside from using illusions to beautify themselves and running fast, these weaklings had almost no combat power.
The succubus, missing her first strike, tried to retreat again. Normally, Duanmu Huai might have had trouble catching her—after all, his agility wasn't high, and succubi were fast. But whether it was thanks to Sigmar's blessing or pure luck, right now he happened to have just the thing to restrain her.
Gravity Gauntlet!
Just as the succubus turned to flee, Duanmu Huai suddenly raised his right hand, making a gripping motion in the air. In an instant, invisible gravity surged, pinning her hard to the floor. Before she could react, Duanmu Huai opened his right hand, and she was yanked toward him like metal to a magnet. He caught her goat-leg, lifted her high, spun her around, and slammed her hard into the ground.
"Bang!!"
The succubus crashed down, her raised nose broken instantly, sharp teeth shattering from the impact. But Duanmu Huai wasn't about to stop—still gripping her hoof, he began slamming her left and right with brute force.
"Thud! Thud! Thud!!"
His movements were merciless, flinging her around like a rag. Seeing this, not only did the surrounding she-demons tremble, but even the battle nuns and others were stunned by his savagery, not daring to step forward.
"Uwaa… Sir Knight really is scary when he's angry…"
Lorena shrank back, whispering to Melody, who only nodded slightly, staying silent. Only Augis still stood quietly nearby. She had originally intended to help, but Duanmu Huai had told her to stay put, so she simply watched her master swing the succubus around like a rag doll.
Over and over, slammed and smashed.
The succubus was surprisingly tough—after several brutal slams, her figure flickered and she vanished into a purple glow. But moments later, she reappeared right before them.
"Foolish… mortals…"
The succubus had returned to her original form, glaring furiously at Duanmu Huai.
"You cannot hope to kill me. This is my master's power—you will never destroy me!!"
"This mansion seems to be under some kind of sorcery cast by her," one battle nun said.
"As long as it remains active, we may indeed have a hard time killing her."
"That's just perfect…"
Duanmu Huai tossed aside his hammer, cracking his knuckles with a grin that looked like something out of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
"Looks like we can take our time, Miss Succubus… You girls take care of breaking the spell."
"—!"
Hearing that, the succubus' face changed instantly, and she turned to run—but Duanmu Huai simply reached out his right hand again. Invisible gravity bound her, dragging her back to him. He seized her throat, lifting the frail-looking succubus off the ground, staring into her eyes with fury.
"Listen up, you piece of trash. I'm going to break your nose, smash your teeth, crack your skull—so that your precious master can see just how hideous its beloved follower can get. Not that you or that perverted freak of an evil god ever looked good in the first place. Without illusions, your face can't even be shown in public, and you dare call me ugly?"
"Ugh… guh…"
"Now taste this!!!"
He grabbed the back of her head and smashed her face into the ground, grinding it back and forth.
"Aaaaarghhhhh!!!"
Her screams pierced the air, and everyone around instinctively shivered.
Only after the battle nuns purified the mansion's dimensional stone and dispelled her sorcery did the poor succubus finally vanish for good—though no doubt the mental trauma would follow her for the rest of her life.
Taking her down had vented a great deal of Duanmu Huai's rage, and he now knew for sure—the God of Desire was his mortal enemy. The other evil gods were bad enough, but the God of Desire was simply revolting.
If you at least looked human, maybe I'd understand you finding me scary. But you're not even human—ugly as sin, relying on illusions to stir up trouble—and you dare call me ugly? Don't think I don't know, you bastards aren't even people!
Then I'll show you what true ferocity looks like!
Perhaps intimidated by Duanmu Huai's brutal treatment of the succubus, the remaining followers of the God of Desire scattered instantly—none daring to stay except a few twisted freaks who were promptly hammered to death.
With that, the mission to reclaim the noble district was successfully completed.
Not only that, but from the psychic seer they rescued from the cultists, they learned of a lead—the God of Slaughter's followers in the southwestern military district had recently captured a Sigmar paladin who trespassed into their territory. They killed him, using him as a sacrifice to open a portal to the God of Slaughter's realm.
By all logic, the next step was to storm the military district and destroy the sacrificial ritual.
But… things weren't that simple.
Unlike the other evil gods, the God of Slaughter thrived on combat. If Duanmu Huai and his allies charged in, any casualties—on either side—would strengthen the portal. Even if they wiped out the cultists, they might still end up opening the passage. After all, the God of Slaughter desired nothing but blood and battle… fighting there would be feeding it power.
But they couldn't just ignore it either…
For the moment, everyone was at a loss.
But for Duanmu Huai… he already had a plan.
