"Well, I have to go now, Teach! See you later!" Vi-rel called out as he sprinted out of the hall, his boots echoing faintly against the marble floor.
"Ack Vi-rel, wait!" Seraphina Dusk reached out, trying to stop him, but a few nearby students instinctively pulled her back to safety. The tension in the air was too heavy to ignore.
Kael watched her struggle and sighed inwardly. She'll only keep throwing questions at me if I stay here any longer.
He turned toward the shattered windows where the faint glow of chaos burned outside. Screams echoed in the distance, and the academy's alarm bell rang over and over again like a cursed heartbeat.
"Well, leaving that aside…" Kael muttered under his breath, "I should check on Octavia Blake. I'm not sure she can keep fending off the monsters much longer."
His tone was calm, but the edge in his eyes told a different story.
