Kael Vi-rel's vision turned black.
They were called the Beings of the Night, and in their presence, there was no light. Fortunately, the in-game camera Kael Vi-rel used ignored such limitations. As a streamer, he had access to features outside of what normal players could use. He switched camera modes using the Vismora glasses and scanned the area.
Behind him, Selene Whitmore rubbed her eyes, trying to discern the surroundings. As an assassin, Selene Whitmore had high resistance to darkness, thanks to her unique ability, [Shadow User]. At only seventeen, she was still technically a cadet, but already dangerous.
"Let's go!"
"Hey, Kael Vi-rel?"
"Follow me."
Kael Vi-rel grabbed her wrist it was unexpectedly soft and ran. Selene Whitmore was classified as a good character, and thus had to be kept alive. Kael Vi-rel darted toward a blind spot outside of Bento's surveillance.
The path wasn't easy obstacles, panicking civilians, overturned tables but Selene Whitmore's movements adapted quickly. Her assassin instincts kicked in.
> I can't see any gaps in her defense...
The [Bloody Banquet] had mobilized twelve people for a new member's initiation. Bento, one of their executives, led the slaughter, alongside three of his strongest associates. It was a massacre ritualistic, almost gleeful. Blood soaked the carpet; screams were swallowed by the darkness.
This wasn't just a game. This was hell coded into pixels.
"Sheesh…"
One of them noticed Kael Vi-rel and Selene Whitmore. Their eyes met. The man smirked and gave chase.
"Selene Whitmore, wait here until your eyes adjust to the environment."
"They'll be here soon."
She looked completely different from ordinary people, she knows how to be patient, keep her cool and doesn't get excited or not losing her temper easily. These must be the basic skills that we were ingrained into her as an assassin. Kael Vi-rel drew magic with one hand and resonates with the magic around him with the other. One cannot enter the casino with weapons. It was unfortunate that he left his weapon at the front desk when he entered the casino.
> Whoa!
Fortunately, the guy in front used magic and abilities. Several magic circles came into existence at the same time. The power of magic itself was considerable.
Perhaps it was with the help of his ability, he was faster and stronger compared to his level.
Kwaguawa! Kwaguawa!
Waves of magical power with various attributes rushed to Kael Vi-rel like a beast. He was smiling at his prey.
wryly, as if he expected Kael Vi-rel, who hardly had any magic power, to be swept away by the
magic power.
Strong!'
Kael Vi-rel raised his vigilance and concentrated. There was no sound, if one was to express it?
No sound. The streak of blue light, known as magic was visible in Kael Vi-rel's eyes. Colorless, odorless, intangible, its magic power is an essential element for humans, but it is similar to air, which cannot be easily felt normally. However, the moment Kael Vi-rel stretched out his hand.
Magic was caught in his fingertips. It felt very soft like cotton candy. In this world, one in 1,000 people senses magic. 1 in 1 million people smells the presence of magic and 1 in 1 billion people directly see the unprocessed magic.
But, who could directly touch it? None. This is possible if you have a [Legend] or higher [Legend] level that has accumulated thousands of arduous achievements over years. Who can see, smell, touch, and move?
As far as Kael Vi-rel knows, no one exist with this characteistic. A being who can attach the word dominance' over magic? Demon King, Heavenly King, Dragon, elves, etc. There was no such existence.
It was possible with [Magic Ruler] possessed by Kael Vi-rel. No wonder it has SSS rating.
He reached out. His fingertips brushed the raw magic. It felt like cotton candy. He twisted his hand
Whirick.
The magic dissipated. It had taken just 0.01 seconds.
The enemy panicked. New circles flared to life, aiming to trap Kael Vi-rel with runic bindings.
> He thinks I'm weak physically...
Kael Vi-rel surged forward, even as his stomach churned from the overload. The taste of blood crept up his throat. Still, he refused to collapse.
He raised his hand again and disrupted the next wave of spells. Magic bent to his will.
Poff. Poff. Puff.
Dozens of magic circles shattered.
"Cool," Kael Vi-rel muttered, panting.
The enemy collapsed, dead.
But Kael Vi-rel was at his limit.
This wasn't a game. If he died here, there was no respawn.
Chin.
"I can see now," Selene Whitmore said, her voice calm.
She supported Kael Vi-rel.
"I need a weapon," he breathed.
"Can you use this for now?"
"A bracelet? Wait how did you get this?"
"I saw you looking at it. I stole it. Price for saving my life," she said without shame.
Kael Vi-rel blinked. Smart? Stupid? Maybe both. But he quickly grabbed it, retrieved the Sword he had kept, and prepared himself.
"Those guys!" Selene Whitmore shouted, spotting two more enemies charging at them.
"I can handle one!" she said.
"What about you?"
"Do you think I can't?"
"Nope."
What would you think if a rank 500+ cadets ask a rank 8 cadets if she can handle herself against one enemy .
Selene Whitmore melted into the shadows. Fully adapted to the darkness now, she moved like a phantom. No less lethal than the Night Beings themselves.
Kael Vi-rel pushed away his exhaustion. The bracelet and sword were recovered. Now came the next step awakening the equipment.
He cut his arm. Blood trickled down, soaking the blade and bracelet. They absorbed every drop. Just before the enemies arrived
Wrath!
The equipment awakened.
His health dropped to under 10%, but in exchange, muscle strength and stamina increased by 35%. The bracelet boosted stats by another 15%, and an additional 2% physical enhancement pushed him even further.
For the next three minutes, Kael Vi-rel felt invincible.
He moved.
With a swing from left to right, his blade slashed across the enemy's abdomen, parrying a counterattack like flowing water.
"Great," the enemy groaned, but didn't fall.
A vicious exchange followed. Strike, parry, evade. No clear winner.
> This guy's strong even for a new Bloody Banquet member.
Even with the Babban buff, Kael Vi-rel's body was deteriorating he is a human after all. The earlier magical overload had caused internal injuries.
> Damn it… I won't win in time.
He needed an edge.
"System Shop!"
A translucent screen appeared.

"Selene Whitmore! Close your eyes!"
Kael Vi-rel bled from multiple wounds. The Babban effect was running out.
