Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Exploration 3

Placing the beheaded corpse of the creature into a box Senzo had made, he continued on through the destroyed hallway, but this time he didn't dare walk too fast as he sent his spectral warriors in front of him to scout.

"Be on the lookout for more creatures like it; I don't believe it is the only one here."

"Understood!" All the warriors echoed as they surrounded Senzo and sent the ones with the highest mobility to the front to scout every nook and cranny of the path.

"Fuuu..." Senzo took a couple of deep breaths, trying to calm himself down, but it was easier said than done after seeing a creature like that eating him.

Let's just focus on quickly clearing it and get the hell out of here!

Senzo made his way through the hallway, if you could even still call it that, surrounded by the spectral warriors; he was constantly tensing his muscles, ready to react at a moment's notice.

"Boss!"

One of the spectral warriors that had run ahead suddenly shouted as he was running back.

"What's up?" Senzo asked, readying himself for the possible terrible news.

"There's nothing; not a single monster attacked until we reached the end. And at the end the hallway splits in two."

"???"

Senzo couldn't understand it. Why was there only a single one? Did it get lost?

"Thanks. Take half of the warriors and explore the entrance on the left. I'll take the rest and explore the other one."

He quickly composed himself and made his orders known; now was not the time to dwell on hypotheticals.

"Understood!" The warrior said with a salute, and a moment later he and many other ones rushed forward to meet up with the other scouts.

"Ah! Take this guy with you!" Senzo shouted, and with a wave of his arm, a large skeleton with a green glow stood beside him.

"Follow and protect them; if you meet any humans, save them at all costs." Senzo ordered.

"Understood, master." The skeleton politely bowed, and a moment later, he also took off running after the spectral warriors.

"Let us make haste as well; if any of the other people living in this apartment were trapped in here as well, we need to get to them as soon as possible."

The spectral warriors all nodded their heads in unison, but before they could start running like the others, they all felt their bodies shoot forward at inhuman speeds.

"Heh, luckily y'all are in my group," Senzo stated with a smirk on his face.

Well, at least right now he could enjoy the dungeon a little bit without any threats to his life and no weird abominations in his vicinity.

The warriors shared quick glances with one another, and a newfound resolve to serve their master seemed to form between them all.

After flying for a couple of minutes, Senzo and the others safely arrived at the end of the hallway the warrior had reported to him, but Senzo was a little surprised.

Even though he hadn't been flying at full speed, he also hadn't flown at a snail's pace, but he did not pass any of the rushing warriors nor Famine. Looks like they're very physically fit.

The spectral warriors he had expected, but Famine—that was unexpected. Well, I'll take everything I can get at the moment.

"Ok, form a formation with me in the middle and carefully explore the opening, and remember if you spot a human, let me know immediately!"

The spectral warriors all nodded their heads and quickly got in formation, the ones holding a sword and shield at the forefront; behind them were warriors holding long spears or halberds, and behind them stood Senzo surrounded by the elite dagger-wielding warriors.

And all the way at the end were bow wielders and some more sword and shield wielders.

Impressive, I saw it last time as well. They're like a well-oiled machine.

And just like that, they all slowly entered the entrance on the right; it had the same look as the abandoned hallways they had just been through, the only difference being that there were splashes of yellow blood and pink saliva on the walls and roof.

"Fuck... stay alert. Most likely we'll encounter giant rats and spiders. They're extremely acidic, so don't engage in close combat—leave it to me and the archers." Senzo efficiently relayed his orders by amplifying his voice using vectors while cutting off external sound so the monsters wouldn't hear them approaching.

"Understood." The warriors whispered in unison, now clearly all on guard, ready to engage the enemy their master had just warned them about.

And it didn't take long before they met the first wave of enemies; after barely a couple of meters, they saw a disgusting scene in front of them.

The whole roof of the hallway was covered in glowing pink saliva, with gigantic spiders covering every inch of it.

"..."

Senzo grimaced just thinking about how much acidic blood would be shed here. "Attack!"

But he had no time to hesitate as he sent hundreds of spears flying straight at the spiders, and together with the arrows the archers fired, every spider that was hit exploded immediately upon death.

"Tch!"

After sending his initial spears flying, Senzo focused solely on containing the waterfall of acidic blood that was coming down from the roof.

He formed a massive bowl-like shape right below the spiders, but he also had to make sure the archers could still hit the remaining spiders. He used all his concentration carefully predicting where the arrows would fly and forming gaps just big enough to let them through.

The moment they went through the bowl-shaped vector form, he had to close the gap immediately to make sure the blood was contained.

"Fuck those bastards," he growled, looking up at the floating river of bright yellow blood. Inside, he could also see hundreds of spider corpses floating around, clearly unaffected by their own blood.

"Boss, what now?" One of the assassins next to Senzo asked, looking up at the fantastical sight.

"Don't worry, I'll just lock the bowl in place and collect it when we leave; can't have all these resources go to waste after all."

"Understood!"

"Let's keep going, and next time the ones at the front can also just throw their weapons to take them down. I'll focus on supporting you all and keeping the blood from touching us."

"Understood!"

Just like that, Senzo and all the warriors left the massive bowl full of blood behind and kept making their way through the creepy hallway.
