Taking a seat on his couch with a cup of coffee and breakfast he had quickly made, he took the phone out of his pocket to fully inspect it, making sure he wouldn't miss anything.
"Let's see what it can do," he said with an expectant look on his face.
But when he turned the phone on again, his eyes widened. Gone was the high-tech phone that he had seen just a minute ago.
Instead he saw his normal phone, filled with notifications from news and weather apps. He quickly unlocked his phone using the face ID and went to his messages when he saw he had new notifications from his parents and sister.
Ayane Kazuko: How's it going with the studying? Are you feeling ready for the exams?
Senzo rolled his eyes, but he had a smile on his face.
Senzo: Yes, Mom, I'm feeling very confident. I will make sure to return with good news after the exams.
Rikyu Kazuko: That's good to hear, son. But make sure to eat and take care of yourself; your mother is beside herself with worry most days. It has gotten so bad that it's starting to affect her work.
Seeing the message his father sent, he could only smile wryly; he knew this would happen, but he couldn't do anything about it. His mother had always been a worrywart, and with him leaving home to live on his own for the first time, he had expected this outcome to some extent.
But it felt good after hearing it from his father. Next, he quickly navigated to the messages his sister had sent him.
Ayako Kazuko: I'll be borrowing your headphones and Merdex. :)
Senzo: ...
Ayako: Thanks, big bro!
Senzo: At least make sure not to scratch the Merdex, and try not to leave a mess in it, understood?
Ayako: Aye!
With a sigh he closed the phone's screen once more and started pondering over the reason as to why the multiverse OS disappeared.
He couldn't understand it. Did he need to jump into the world immediately, or would it be gone forever? Or will it reappear given enough time?
"I should have been more resolute and just jumped immediately," he said to himself while staring up at the ceiling.
But this wasn't that bad either; he had no idea how long he would be gone for after jumping into that other world. And he had been studying really hard for those exams to get into a good university.
If dungeons appeared, that would have all gone to waste.
"Who am I kidding? Of course I don't care that much about university compared to gaining esper powers."
Shaking his head wildly to expel any useless thoughts, he picked his phone back up to check the time and do some more research for his exams.
But his phone's background was nowhere to be found, and instead he saw the multiverse screen once more.
"Huh?"
Should he jump right now to make sure the screen wouldn't disappear, or would it always reappear?
Thinking back to what had happened this morning, he went over everything step by step. First he picked up the phone from his desk, and then he checked out some of its features.
And after a while he shut off the phone to grab a coffee and breakfast, and after doing that it had become his normal phone.
"Could that be it?"
Without thinking, he shut off the phone once more, and then it was back to his normal phone with his basic background.
"It seems like every time I shut it off, it changes from multiverse into my normal phone. Quite handy, I must say," he muttered with a grin on his face.
Then he relaxed his whole body, now that he was sure the multiverse OS wouldn't just disappear by shutting the phone off.
Grabbing a piece of toast, he took a big bite out of it while he inspected the multiverse OS, this time going over his background, which he was supposed to get when he enters the Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited – Hyoubu Kyosuke world.

A high-level esper whose existence was erased from all government records. He voluntarily resided in the same prison as Yugiri, remaining under constant surveillance. "Wow."
He was speechless; this was a lot heavier than he expected—voluntarily imprisoned. Inside the same hellhole as Yugiri?
That sounded rough, but at least he wasn't being used for experiments and in the creation of artificial espers fully under their control.
Next he pressed the mission log to see if he could get any more details.

"Interesting, so I don't need to do any missions, but it's basically better to do so. As it gives better rewards and even post-world effects."
After that, Senzo read through the rest and finally felt like he understood the phone a little.
The only problem now was if he should jump right now or wait. But wait for what?
"Will time stop while I am in the other world? I couldn't find anything about that, sadly."
