Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: The Ultimate Training Technique

"Alright, Yoru, I won't freeload. Here—take this Green Spinach Pill as payment for the meal. I'm sure you know how to use it."

Chōji Akimichi took out a small box, selecting a single green pill from an assortment of three differently colored ones, and tossed it to Umino Yoru.

"See you tonight—don't forget our little dinner date!"

With a single leap, Chōji vanished into the forest, his voice echoing behind him.

"A Green Spinach Pill?!"

Yoru's eyes widened in excitement. This was top-tier military rations, reserved only for Konoha's elite jōnin. Even money couldn't buy it easily.

Currently, Konoha's supply system classified soldier pills into four tiers:

Low-grade rations – Given to expendable genin and low-ranking shinobi with no connections. Barely passable. Standard rations – Issued to clan heirs and mid-tier chūnin. The official Konoha-branded stuff. Enhanced rations – Reserved for jōnin, offering double the effect of standard pills. Green Spinach Pills – Elite-only supply, handed out only for S-rank missions or extreme emergencies.

This wasn't just a stamina booster—it was a chakra burst drug. A single pill could triple the user's strength in a short time, making it a trump card in dire situations.

Sure, the side effects were harsh, but compared to its benefits? Worth it.

Only someone as loaded as Chōji would casually gift something this valuable. Most shinobi would hoard it like a lifeline.

"If the Green Spinach Pill is this potent… just how powerful are the legendary Yellow Curry Pill and Red Pepper Pill?"

Yoru carefully tucked the pill into his vest. Well, considering only a chubby Akimichi could handle anything stronger, I shouldn't get greedy.

Chōji's gluttony had just earned him a new level of respect. Tonight's dinner? Better be legendary.

Not just for the chance to learn Akimichi secrets—but as a proper thank-you for this treasure.

"Plenty of time left. Let's test this Akimichi Digestion Technique."

Yoru channeled chakra, mimicking Chōji's method of stimulating the vagus nerve in his intestines.

For most shinobi, this would be insanely difficult—but with his subsonic internal vision, it was child's play.

Since it was his first attempt, he used only a tiny amount of chakra.

Yet the effect was instant.

His gut lurched—gastric acid, bile, and enzymes flooded his system like someone had hit fast-forward. Food dissolved at an unnatural rate.

"Captain… did you just unlock Fire Release chakra?!"

Inuzuka Ryō stared as Yoru's skin turned lobster-red, steam rising off him like a boiling kettle. Only Fire Release could generate that much internal heat.

"Mhm." Yoru gave a noncommittal grunt.

He quickly shooed his awestruck team back to training before bolting to the river.

"Hah… too hot. Too much energy. Gotta burn it off—FAST."

His heart pounded, blood sizzling with raw power.

"Water Release: Hiding in Mist Technique!"

As soon as the mist formed, something unexpected happened.

His chakra—depleted from the jutsu—refilled almost instantly.

"No way…"

In under ten seconds, he was back at full capacity.

"This is HUGE."

The Akimichi digestion method had supercharged his energy conversion. He couldn't store excess like Chōji, but for training?

This was a game-changer.

Even in combat, faster digestion = faster recovery—a lifesaving edge.

"Water Release: Mist Teleportation!"

He blitzed across the water, chakra replenishing as fast as he spent it. The physical exertion even cooled his overheated body.

"Again!"

"Again!"

"AGAIN—!"

Normally, ten teleports would drain him. Now?

A hundred in a row, and he still felt fresh.

"Let's push the mist's range next."

The fog's diameter ballooned from 60 meters to 200, his chakra regeneration barely keeping up.

Instead of expanding further, he maintained it, refining his control.

Half an hour later—

A thousand teleports.

His speed? Sharper.

The mist? Flawless.

Then—crash.

"Out of juice already?!"

His chakra recovery slowed, energy reserves dried up.

"My conversion efficiency's still trash compared to Chōji's."

The downside of the Akimichi technique?

It burns through food like crazy.
