*Chapter 5: The Journey*
Emily's heart skipped a beat as she read the note. She had never seen the note before, and she wondered why her grandmother would write such a cryptic message. The words "Beware the shadows" echoed in her mind as she folded the note and put it in her pocket.
As she grabbed her bag and headed out the door, Emily couldn't shake off the feeling that something was watching her. She looked around her apartment, but everything seemed normal. Shaking off the feeling, Emily got into her car and started the engine.
The drive to Ravenswood Manor took about an hour, winding through dense woods and rolling hills. As Emily drove, the GPS led her further and further away from civilization. She began to feel a sense of unease, wondering if she had made a mistake by coming here.
Finally, the GPS announced her arrival, and Emily turned onto a long driveway lined with ancient trees. The mansion loomed before her, its turrets and spires reaching toward the sky like skeletal fingers. Emily's heart sank as she parked her car and stepped out onto the gravel driveway.
The front door creaked open, and a butler stood before her, his face expressionless. "Welcome, Miss Windsor," he said, bowing slightly. "Mr. Blackwood awaits you inside."
As Emily followed the butler into the mansion, she couldn't help but feel that she was stepping into a different world. A world of shadows and secrets, where nothing was as it seemed.
The butler led her into a grand foyer, where a chandelier hung from the ceiling, casting flickering shadows on the walls. Emily's eyes adjusted slowly to the dim light, and she saw a figure standing by the fireplace.
"Ah, Emily," the figure said, turning to face her. "Welcome to Ravenswood Manor. I'm Malcolm Blackwood."
