Chapter 105 - 105. Dear Daughter

I stared at the words like they might rearrange themselves into something less creepy if I squinted hard enough.

Spoiler: they didn't.

"Meet me in the bathroom."

That was it. No signature, no hint. Nothing.

My grip tightened on the paper, and my brain went into overdrive. Curiosity gnawed at my insides as I wondered who was behind the note. Was it Lucian? Or worse, was it Scott or someone I didn't know?

I wasn't sure I was ready to risk it, so I shoved the note into my pocket, the fabric crinkling as if it could hide my nerves too.

The court was already empty, as students had already rushed outside to watch the next game. I stepped out of it, my pulse thrumming in my ears. 

Not out of excitement. 

Out of fear.

Anxiety.

Because somewhere out there, Ava was alone.

With Nicklaus Salvatore.

The very thought made me want to unalive him. I hadn't walked so far when someone called my name.
