Chapter 14 - Wasn't Lucan supposed to be a bully?

Lucan took the cue and didn't say anything, and Lior rested his head on the table. The class continued with the day's work, and the teachers who came in didn't bother waking the sleeping Lior, perhaps they had also gotten the news from their grade teacher that he had been injured in the morning.

Lior was still deep in sleep when he felt a hand tapping him. "Hey, we need to talk," Lucan said, and Lior couldn't help but raise a brow.

He was greatly confused. Why was his predecessor's memory confusing him? Wasn't Lucan supposed to be a bully? Then why was he acting all friendly, as though they both planned something?

Or wait—

A realization dawned on Lior as he thought: did they plan his fall but didn't know that he could actually die in the act?

"I'm talking to you. Why are you dozing off?" Lucan's voice brought Lior's attention back to his face, and Lior sighed.

He looked around the room and saw that most of the students had left. Sid could be seen looking at him meekly from his seat. Lior scratched his head and looked back at Lucan. "Just leave me. I need to go home. As much as I'd love to entertain your smugness, I need to speak to my sisters first. So can we do this later?"

"No," Lucan uttered, his words cold and final. Lior gave him an odd look as he stood up and hissed. He passed Lucan's side without saying anything and went to meet Sid.

Nudging him by the elbow, he said, "Let's get going home."

Sid stood up from his seat, and Lior finally looked at Lucan, who stood watching him.

Lucan said, "Lior, I honestly won't say much. Just make sure to come meet me at Red Stag."

Lior's brain seemed to swirl at his words, but he didn't pay much attention to him. He just scratched his head as Lucan walked out of the classroom. He then looked at Sid, who was done packing his things. "I honestly have no idea what's wrong with Lucan and me…"

"You were really strong and badass today. The way you handled Lord Malric and Rovan was very good," Sid said, all smiles.

"Yeah," Lior nodded. "I handled them so well they're definitely going to gang up on me later."

Sid scratched his head and nodded, a frown settling on his face. "That's true. We're definitely going to suffer later."

But then his face brightened again as he added, "But at least we didn't let them think we could be played with from the start."

"We?" Lior chuckled. "I didn't see you throwing any punches when I was getting punched…"

"Well, I couldn't fight the nobles, or I'd be dead. It's always been this way…" Sid chuckled as he scratched his neck, his cheeks flushed.

"I get it," Lior said.

They both walked out of their class and through the Primus compound, then moved to the stables where they kept their horses. They took their horses and galloped straight to the Ravenhart estate, where Lior went directly to his room.

'So, if I'm understanding this shit, Lucan is supposed to be a bully, but he's acting friendly with me now. And I've seen the other two bullies. So as it is, it's very certain that I might have unveiled my root and might have even awakened my craft without any prompt or sort. Now, I just need to let them come here so I can discuss with them.' Lior thought as he laid on his bed.

His hand graced his chin as he analyzed it all. 'So, if I can manage to do that, this life will go in the way I want it to. I'll be a mage, grow stronger and then richer, and I can be recognized as one of the best mages in the world probably like the gay prince…'

'That's true, that prince is still there. How do I even plan to sort him out? I'm certainly not gay, neither was my predecessor, so I can't be seen even answering him. And also, he's being too direct. Even if he wants me to be his consort, is it supposed to just happen straight away?' Lior was still battling with his thoughts when Sid entered the room.

Standing by the door, he said, "Your sisters are back and they want to see you. Should they come to your room or will you come down?"

Lior raised his body from the bed to look at Sid. He shook his head as he responded, standing up from the bed, "I'll come to meet them. This is very important."

"Okay," Sid answered.

Lior then walked to the door and followed Sid to where his sisters were in their big sitting room. The Ravenhart triplets, identical sisters with blue eyes and silver hair, could be seen sitting on the chairs.

The way Lior differentiated between the three sisters was by their type of hair. Elowen, the youngest of the sisters, had curly silver hair. Isolde had wavy hair, while the eldest, Seraphina, had straight hair. Lior also had curly hair, just like Elowen.

Seraphina stood up as she saw Lior and moved to meet him. Elowen also followed, and Isolde came closer. Elowen moved past Seraphina and quickly held Lior. Her eyes held care as she asked, "Are you okay?"

"We heard what happened," Seraphina said.

"Yes, we heard. We heard that you scalded someone with your hand. Is that true?" Isolde asked, seemingly more concerned about the new rumor circulating around.

Well, one could tell from their characters the one who caused Lior to be bullied, the one who made it possible for him not to fight back. Perhaps, Elowen because if it were left to Isolde, he would be strong and manly.
