Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The First Shift

Wandering across worlds has always brought me a strange sense of satisfaction. Not from conquest or destruction, but from discovery. For one such as I—a lich who has existed for countless millennia—the thrill of new knowledge is the only constant. I have walked across billions, perhaps trillions of realms. Some nearly identical, others so alien that even my mind struggled to comprehend them.

And still, the hunger persisted.

In pursuit of that hunger, I created something unique—an evolved form of teleportation, forged through a fusion of spatial displacement and reality-warping incantations. It doesn't take me where I choose. It takes me where I need to be. Random, chaotic, unfiltered. It is… beautiful.

One day, while seated within my domain, a whisper of thought crossed my mind:"Perhaps it is time for something new."Something unknown. Something… dangerous.

I stood. I gathered my staff—an old relic, more companion than weapon. I donned the attire I had acquired from a technological world long past: a pristine white suit, elegant and ironic.

Then, with a simple snap of my fingers, the portal opened.

Light consumed the chamber.

When it cleared, I stood in a forest. Not one of rot or shadow—this forest pulsed with life. Towering trees swayed gently, bathed in golden sunlight. The very air shimmered with vibrancy. I could feel it.

Everything around me contained too much life. More than it should. The creatures here—some hidden, some watching—radiated with dense energy. Unusual. Intriguing.

And then it happened.

A sensation I had not experienced in centuries pulsed through my bones—Anticipation.

For the first time in an age…I was excited.
