Chapter 3 - Training

I guess training comes first. Making my way home I changed into some gym clothes and made my way to the kick boxing gym close to my house. Quickly entering I spotted a free punching bag in the corner. I skipped tapping my hands, I threw punches and kicks until blood started dripping from my hands. I got a notification that my hp increased by one. The pain is bearable so I kept punching and punching for what felt like hours feeling my skin rip off and my bones crack from the impact. Finally I looked at my status and my hp increased by five. I left for home to treat my hands. Applying ointment and wrapping them in gauze and tape. Exiting the bathroom I walked into the kitchen where mom was cooking dinner. I asked her, "Do we still have dad's old book collection?".

She answered, "I believe so but why the sudden interest in reading.".

I told her, "I need to raise my mp for my class requirement.".

After telling her she stopped what she was doing and turned around to face me. She angrily said, "I told you not to follow what those so called Gods and Goddess' wanted after what happened to your father.".

I said, "I know but I want to be someone who can change the world. I can't do that in the normal way. I scare everyone by just looking at them.".

She yelled, "So you want to disgrace your father and I by following those monsters. If that's what you want you can leave this house.".

I couldn't say anything else. My heart shattered into a million pieces. Tears started falling down my face with a burning sensation while my world was crumbling. I grabbed some stuff from my room and ran out the door. I knew she hated the system but I didn't think she would go this far. There was only one place I was able to go. Arriving at the door I knocked three times and waited. A cheery voice came from behind the door, "Who is it?".

I tried to push down the sadness and clear the weight from my throat so I could speak. I said, "It's Rowan.".

She opened the door quickly, probably noticing something was wrong since I haven't visited since I was a child. I couldn't help but start blushing since Amelia is extremely beautiful with her long blonde hair and sky blue eyes. She grabbed my face and turned it towards hers. She wiped the tears from my eyes and asked, "What happened Rowan? It's not like you to cry.".

I went on to explain the situation. After explaining I asked, "Can we go inside now? Your neighbors are watching from their window.".

She grabbed my hand and dragged me inside. I grabbed the knob as we passed the door closing it on the way in. She sat on the couch and motioned for me to sit next to her. I sat down and she suddenly grabbed my head pulling it into her lap. She stared down at me and said, "I'll talk to your mother tomorrow but you can stay at my house for now.".

I quietly said, "Thank you before passing out on her lap.".

I felt something poking into my cheek causing me to stir slowly. Opening my eyes I was still resting my head on Amelia's lap. Her cat was on top of my head kneading my cheek but suddenly jumped down when it noticed when I woke up. Amelia was sleeping still and all I could do was stare at her beauty. I reached my hand up and slightly stroked her cheek before snapping back into reality and pulling my hand back. Standing up I shook her shoulder slightly trying to stir her awake. After a couple seconds she yelled, "I'm awake dammit, stop shaking me.".

After that outburst she fell sideways on the couch and curled up. I guess she ain't waking up any time soon. I grabbed a blanket from the loveseat and covered her up before noticing the books she had on the table. Opening the first one I started reading. It was the story of an archmage traveling the world after retiring from the party of heroes. It went into detailed explanation of how the archmage would use magic. About halfway through the book Olive said, "What the hell? How did you raise your mp by ten in such a short time?".

I answered, "I read half of this book.".

She said, "Put the book in your inventory so I can read it.".

I pushed the book into the screen which slowly absorbed the book until it disappeared. Olive suddenly shouted, "How did you get this? This is a fragment of Tuara's past.".

I asked, "Do you mean the Goddess of magic?".

Olive quickly said, "Yes. This book is supposed to be given to the person who will become the disciple of Tuara.".

Upon hearing this I took the book out of my inventory and returned it to the table. I grabbed the comic book that was next to it. Reading the comics Amelia had laying around I managed to get my mp to 20. I pulled up the system window to check my requirements and noticed that one of them disappeared. One out of ten done. Which one should I do next? Might as well take one step into a tower. The closest one to me was about thirty miles away. I grabbed Amelia's phone and saved my number in it before leaving. Getting on a bus I made the journey to the tower. Standing at the base I stared upwards towards the ever going expanse. The Entrance was huge. I stood in the doorway and slowly took one step into the tower. Making sure the requirement was done I searched online for a swordsmanship teacher.

After searching for a couple hours I found one who had class sign ups posted with the address. It wasn't far from where Amelia lived so I stopped by on my way back. Looking through the window I noticed about ten people inside following the guy wearing a helmet standing at the front of the room. I opened the door and everyone stopped and looked toward me. I greeted the man in the helmet. I said, "Nice to meet you. Name's Rowan. I would like to take your class.".

The man told me, "Likewise. You can call me Helm. Learning swordsmanship isn't easy. You better be prepared.".
