Chapter 4 - SLAIN

GRAWWRRRR!!!

The monstrous Hedromus, a terrifying bear-beast, mauled Xerxez's parents, their lives brutally battered. Yet, King Thallerion, a tower of defiance, fought with ferocious courage, parrying every savage lunge from the titan. Behind him, the Queen unleashed a hail of arrows, each one a whisper of vengeance, finding its mark and wounding Hedromus. But then, a hellish fire erupted, not consuming the beast, but cloaking it in an infernal shroud. Hedromus's claws, now glowing like molten embers, seared everything they touched, leaving only desolation in their wake.

"This time, I would not veil my speech in the tongue of old. Nay, I would have thee hearken to each word in full, and know the very meaning of true pain!" King Hedromus said to the monarchs of Thallerion. He transformed into a human form. His moves was now slow and heavy.

"You, wicked, infested soul. You just lucky, because you have Constellar's power! But, if it is timely you don't have, maybe, my arrows will be your fur-feathered beard!" Her eyes was sharp, and her voice slit through the air like blades.

"hahahah," the king laughed sarcastically. "Look at these two wriggling worms in front of me, defenseless, they really think they can defeat me?" His mind mumbling. "Huh, you forsaken souls, even if you both attack me, mine wounds are just ticklish scratches!"

"Well, I am Hedromus, king of Moonatoria, known as the fierce Ursa beast, the fire, dancing on mine skin, touch it, and you shall be burned!" He introduced himself again, though, the two monarchs of Thallerion were tired of listening at his big mouth pompously. "Aye… three and forty kings have I slain with mine ember-forged claws—together with six and thirty queens, and an hundred and three and thirty princes and princesses, Hahaha!"

"We know you are a merciless conqueror!" The king of Thallerion. His sword was like a cane that help him stand, even he was fatigued and exhausted.

"Well, if you hate my accent? Come hither, and I shall rend thee asunder with mine own claws! This am I, and my tongue of olden speech, both alike in strength!"

"Queen of Thallerion, how dare you just called me, infested soul with unknown entity? Huh, do you know I am the only conqueror that never been defeated once, and yet here you are, calling me infested?" The queen writhed face just watched him with grim stare.

"And what do you think you can call your self—a god?" The queen bitter expression laughed a bit, sarcastically. "You are just an obese man who are evil!"

"Haha, stop calling me evil!" The Queen's sweat dripping on her cheek, her beautiful eyes, and her smell, undeniably licking sweet, like a perfume fermented for a thousand of year, now scented, exquisitely expensive on her skin. His big cheeky nose, still smell their fear, as poignant as hoove's foul. "ah, I know it...the boy. Exactly, I Wonder...where is he, hiding now?" He mentally asked.

"Methinks, your little chick, child of Thallerion, same age to my little boy, Harthur. But any way, the boy must learn, that this is the final hour, a moment where a tormented, farewell begin." He said, posing a heavy move, his muscular legs stood like a Sentinel.

"Don't ever try to lean your finger on my son!" The queen indignation was bursted.

"Any last word?" In a blink of an eye, he returned to a beastly form, with a growling voice, then the two monarch, agape wide, and their eyes stead in the talking beastly bear, though, they were still shaken by growling voice, utterly defeated, hopeless. "I hope, our son was now move away in the Thallerion border." The king thought. "All the Moonatorians beasts were here."

"hmm, look at your eyes, king of Thallerion ...what a furiously, gloomy eye, is that still a face of a monarch?" The king of Moonatoria noticed him that he was thinking deeper. "Hmm, that is a face of pure helplessness. You are both stare of your inevitable defeat, nothing more." He then, moved an attack against the monarch of Thallerion. Grawwwr!!!!

"Argggg, we will not let you—aghs!" The queen was hit by a strong blown by a bear punch. "I think, this is my end... We can't defeat him...he is too strong and powerful!" She cries as she thought about the truth.

The legendary sword of Thallerion's king, once unyielding, liquefied like frost beneath the infernal touch of beast, while the Queen's arrows crumbled to dust. Then, the colossal beastly Bear's legs, stood, mimicking human's bipedal, lengthen height upto two meter high, his shadow, carpeted the two monarch. They collapsed to the ground, spent and defeated, their valiant efforts undone. Hedromus, a flaring, colossal shadow, loomed over them.

"He is a fire Ursa beast!" The king of Thallerion, saw the fire cloak on the grizzly bear. Though, in his last desperate struggle, the king of Thallerion just try to punch bitterly but he was so exhausted, hurt, and wounded from their relentless, desperate struggle, cannot fight anymore, from the burning grip of a molten claws, he writhe in pain.

And the Queen, in her last, desperate act, use her archer's bow to slash at the beast's impossibly thick, feathered hide, but it snap like a brittle twig, a testament to Hedromus's monstrous power.

'I told you—surrender— yet, here you are!" The fanged bear talked to the two monarch, stumbled on the ground, waiting for the final blow, an effortlessly, grotesque ending! Just one grip of molten ember claws, with a clutching rhythmic groaning bone. Their pity, wriggling souls inevitably, tear apart.

With a terrifying roar that echoed through the very earth, he lunged, his massive hands encircling their throats, choking them with brutal, agonizing force. They thrashed like helpless birds caught in a snare, their struggles fading as the bear's incandescent claws pierced their flesh. Blood gushed from their necks, a horrifying crimson deluge drenching them from head to foot. And then, there was only stillness.

"They were dead!" He exhale with a moderate loose of his grips.

"Aye, their flesh is now a dominion of wintry, a decayed, frozen time, a testament of life devoid. Their breathless, lifeless, vessels, reckoning as Forty - Fourth king and Thirty -seventh Queen, both are now dead." He whispered with a triumphant joy within his heart.

"Listen everyone, I, King Hedromus, King of Moonatoria, declaring, I killed a total of 44 kings, and a total of 37 queens."

The Moonatorian warriors, growl fiendishly, and the non-gifted Moonatorian, clanging their swords and shouting with victorious chorus.

Meanwhile, the boy and the relatives was now in the forest, when his talking dagger reporting a bad news. "Yeaks, prince! Prince!"

"Your parents was defeated...defeated, by the Ursa might!" The boy ran where he can peek through the Thallerion. From a far, he saw the familiar figure, lay on the ground, he shocked and cried loudly, his voice reverberating not too far away, in the battlefield, as his parents both, drenched in crimson blood.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" His incredible shriek tore through the air, a raw, guttural anguish born of profound loss.

"Father! Mother!!!" Someone hold him back, as the boy was planny to go back in Thallerion.

"No! Don't go back there, young prince!" He was Mr Alexunther Esqaniel, Queen Xurien Wrez's relative. "I understand your loss, but we have to move forward, now!"

Back in the battlefield, they can't see the boy, it was in the thick forest, King Hedromus, feel amazed as he heard the cry of a child, lamenting. "Oh, what a poor, little chick, wriggling in lamentation." He saw his fellow warriors, the earthly wood-type-ursa bear, approach.

"Your Highness, do we have to kill that boy?" A green Ursa bear, talked. But, King Hedromus breath fire infront of him, with rage.

"Fool, he is still a child, do you want to be mocked by other nations?" Hedromus gritted. "Bring that child to me alive! for now... I want him to be my slave, then kill him after!"

"But, Your Highness, he is not escaping alone, he actually have accompany, trying to escape through the forest."

"I don't care about the others, just bring the child of Thallerion back, here!" He growled angrily, his ember claws, screeching. "I am the king of Ursa bear, so, follow my order!" The green Ursa bear, Understand?" The green Ursa bear was nodded.

"Yes, your Highness." He answered.

"Good." He said calmly. "Well..well...the boy was escaping...I wonder, are they already setting it up? " He contemplated with a lazy thought. "Well, it is a waste of time...I have no time to give more attention about their futile escape plan! Besides..."

"Listen, everyone...who ever can bring the boy here... Rewards awaited you..."

Nevertheless, the king of Moonatoria can't kill the boy, because everytime he saw him, he reminded him of his son, Harthur—his son, now was studying in Moonatoria at most expensive school.

"But, the boy, named Xerxez, he is just a child, one day, he will meet in the same tragic, exact fate, the grotesque rendezvous of death." Now, at that exact moment, he saw the Thallerion people, and the soldiers, surrendering under his name.

"Hark! The King of Thallerion hath passed!!!" declared King Hedromus after he shifted from a ferocious bear back into his human form. His beastly claws had claimed the life of the king of Thallerion, a grim trophy of his conquest. "And lo, the Queen is dead as well!!!" The dead soldiers lay like caught fish, bathed in their own blood, drenched at the feet of the Moonatorian warriors, led by their triumphant King Hedromus.

"hahahah," The chilling laugh etched on king Hedromus face. "Maybe, the boy named, Xerxez will be able to understand the true might of Ursa entity. Dagger, sword, gun, cannon, those are all, useless!" He rode at his chariot lifted by the slaves. Now, entering in the Thallerion palace.

"Hmm, if he wanted to avenge his parents..." He saw a vast wall like a museum. There, the throne waited him. "First, he must learn to understand, explosive, weapons, even his own blade, were nothing more than worthless twigs in this brutal reality."

Many of the Moonatorians warriors and soldiers grabbed the opportunity to celebrate, and destroy Thallerion's authority. Women were forcefully trampled down their dignity, done by few warriors, and some Thallerion men were battered, put in the dungeon, especially those who were resisting stubbornly to the new order of the Moonatorian's dictatorship.

Beasts and terrifying entities were no longer distant nightmares to the children of Thallerion, it is no more a folklore, told by ancestors. Moonatorian are the chilling, undeniable truth of the world, that Thallerion have not possesses.'

"This world, ruled by a tyrant and an oppressive reign— like me, of course, saw weaklings as prey. Hunted them with my predatory nation." His nation, Moonatoria where Constellar-entity nestled, empowering his authorities. From now on, Thallerion shall be his slaves, all forsaken souls, must vow before him, and carry his majestic, adorable, moon-like orb chariot, a shimmering golden, bulbed-like bud.

And every Thallerion, commoner or noble, force to speak in an archaic accent, if then not, whiptail, and bitter whoosh will be given each one of them. He heard, the four districts here, are crafted with joyous Warcraft, and artifacts weaponry, all living delicacies of former warriors, and well-known, fearsome, hunters of beasts and demons.

"Hmm, now that I defeated the Thallerion. I'm sure, the name, King Hedromus, the well-known—Fierce Ursa Bear — will be shaken all the nations, big or small.... Hahaha!!!!" His eyes, staring at the unoccupied throne chairs. Thallerion councils and important leaders in the Thallerion were like a low rank that were not acknowledged. They are now the one who lifting the chariot of king Hedromus. "Hahahha, lift it higher!" He said, mockingly. People of Thallerion was now helpless, akin to an endlessly, hopeless waiting for the Orion's empty promise, even if they wished. "My beloved Moonatoria, most known as Ursa nation, still the most, unimpeachable nation, among the top ranking most powerful nations with Constellar Entities."

King Hedromus rank in Moonatoria, was most powerful Ursa beast, he is the only king, mere-bear, linguistic, got the top 1, most powerful fire-bear-beast form. "All thanks to mine, unshakable, unfathomable mights, our beloved Moonatoria, become part of the topnotcher in the world list."

"Attention, all fellow beastly comradery. From the day forward, all of you will serve and do the duty under my authority here in Thallerion, I want everyone to participate." Meanwhile, the group of earthly wood type Ursa, just stood nearby...what are they thinking? Huh, look like they are not going to follow my command?"

"And what are ya, doing here, watching like nithlings?"

"I'm sorry Your Highness, but we, Wood type Ursa, we will not going to help you, if your desire to make this people of Thallerion suffer, we can't help you...we come here, only to help you colonize this land." The leader of Ursa wood type lead his retinue. "We will go back now in Moonatoria."

"Ehh, what a foul mouthed beast!" He stared bitterly like a blade. King Hedromus know that they were forcefully ordered to help him colonize the Thallerion, knowing that wood-typed-ursa warriors, belong to the sensory unit, they can run faster in the woods and stronger. No prey are capable to escape from their senses, "But now, they are refusing to help me? What a useless warrior!"

"So be it… I cannot vow thee loyalty. Yet mark this — no boon of royalty shall be granted unto any of thee. Get thee back to Moonatoria, and toil in the soil like peasants, that thy lives might yet find purpose."

****

Look at him, he was very frustrated, vexed, annoyed, watching on the Thallerion's throne. His body cannot fit, on the kingly throne chair, so small, that even his fat belly, and chubby butt, growl in protest. "Hmph, what dietary exercises, he maintains for his masculine fitness?"

"This chair, a testament of pure absurdity!" The chair was now trembling, when he sat forcefully on the armchair. Aching with deformities, molding it into spherical shape. "It feel good now!"

CRINK!

"I must be complacent, but because of that chicky, wriggling, boy... hmm, that boy of Thallerion! This lazy, chubby, bellied form of mine, now desperately, waiting. But I do sure, he will be delivered as soon as possible." He watched delightfully on the surroundings, leaning comfortably.

****************************************************************************************************

King Cerceux relatives were desperately running towards the land of Wendlock. They have cargoes pulled by their horses, but many of them, walked as fast as chicken desperate flee, and many of the women carrying their children. Matheros's father, a first cousin of queen Xurien Wrez, named Alexunther Esqaniel, leading his people.

"Hurry! Leave your cargo, if that will give you burden, leave it!"

He know, this is a coward way, but this is the will of his king Cerceux , his assertive decision, push them to escape, securing all children, women, and young warriors, can escape from the tyranny of Moonatoria. Their sacrifices are the proof of their heroic deeds, their lives will be honored, and they will not be forgotten. For they are more than just a hero, they are the real symbol of Thallerion, the bravest, willing to sacrifice their oneself, for the rest.

"I know... I must not suppose to be here. But, I will respect their decision, and I will try my best to save these people, the beacon of hope for Thallerion. All of them was in a grapple of my shoulders."

They utterly can't defeat the savagery of Moonatoria, even if they fight, death will be delivered. Now that their rulers were dead, king Hedromus and his Warrior beasts, shall now the sole possessor of Thallerion's districts. "We have so many lives, left there, old men, soldiers, and warriors, commoners, and even our relatives. Hoping these children, and few soldiers and warriors, women... survive."

'I can only guarantee, to serve the mundane ordered by king Cerceux, but I am utterly wordless about the escape for survival, this trekking is a proof of uncertainty. Whether we can reach to the Wendlock, danger will still lingering.'

"I can't imagine, why, the queen decided to fight?" He tried to pacify, the prince Xerxez, still crying and mourning. He knew the boy saw, the brutal death of his parents, even though, they were silently escaping that moment, the boy's eyes peek through the battlefield, while heading to escape here on the forest. "Matheros, my youngest son, also helping me to accompany the boy, and trying to pacify the boy's mourning heart."

"Matheros, the prince was in mourning state, serve him to surmount his sorrowful heart."

His son, just nodded at him. Matheros is 15 years old boy, and he know his son was capable to handle the situation like this, even though his elder brother died in the battle, he still strong.

"Prince Xerxez, stop crying. Be strong, remember the lesson I taught you, fight and be strong. Your grandpa told you, you are the bravest boy in Thallerion, so don't cry." Matheros said, tapping the prince's back.

They are now bridging in the rocky river cliff, this way, Ursa cannot move easily, in case they will chasing them.

Beneath, the stormy, water river surge, grumbling on every rock, every step, cracks and fell. On the cracked mountain, a secretive tectonic fault , forming a cave-like path, narrowing by cracked boulders, hinder possibility of mammalian attacks. Alexunther group went to the eastward, while the other group heading on the northeast.

GRAWWRRRR!!!

They heard the growling beast made by the oppressive Moonatorian, their echoes piercing through the very heart of the cave-like path. Children and women, and his family, aghast, trembling, upon hearing the approaching quadrupedal beasts.

"Everyone, hasten your legs...sharpen your foot!!! Moonatoria is coming. Run as as fast as you can! And don't ever confront them!"

"Dad, maybe the beasts are now chasing after him, what are we suppose to do now?" Matheros shrieked. Holding Xerxez's hand.

"We have avoid trouble as much as possible. We don't have enough strength to fight, all we can do now, run and escape from their senses."

'I'm afraid, I can't save all my people, the gentlefolk, the innocent lives, against the ferocious Ursa beasts. My heart felt burdened, each time, the growl brought terror to their eyes, shaking, and tearing. The prince understood that his life will be in peril, but, I will not let that happen, Moonatoria must come to pass over my dead body, first.'

"Give us the boy, and you shall go free!" The Moonatorians said in an echo way, they haven't seen yet, but the beasts had sensed them nearby. Fleeting all the birds in the forest, as they growled.

"Listen Matheros, no matter what will happen keep the prince away from them. Ignore them, don't look at them, and always remember, narrowed paths are best counter for them."

His people ignoring the echoes of Moonatoria, howling like a wolf as they spreading terror to all gentles, their mammalian threats muffled by the ear-binding boulders like earwax in the narrowed path.

'Hahaha, I know now their weakness, and they cannot laugh, the fact that they are obese. Hmm, a chubby bellied beast, teased by the queen is indeed hurtful, this tricky narrow path is a big slap to their bearded chubby cheeks. But, they are still moving forward, crunching, screeching, and destroying those rock walls along their path. The grumbled of beasts, the cackled boulders, all heavy sounds have been created along their path. A testament of their presence from a far. As we move too, my people feel the earthly breeze ahead, the crooked mouth of a cave, now touches our heart with relief.

"I know, it was hard for the boy, to accept the truth, when his life now was alone, but me, and Matheros, are here to protect him." He stared at the boy.

The twelve years of Xerxez parents' embrace, now forever lost, he would never be felt again. May the day never come, when the boy, becomes a vindictive mortal, consumed by the spirit of vengeance.

How utterly unfair! Perhaps, the Orion entity was merely watching Thallerion's defeat at the hands of Ursa's warriors, silently, or indifferently? Or perhaps, Orion was a lazy entity who doesn't want to meddle with humans? Forsaking them, in the direst moment of defeats? Where is he, actually? Finally, the Moonatorian's beasts was exhausted, unwilling to chase them as if they were chasing rats inside of a narrowed hole, in the cave. "Hahahha, I never expected this... I thought they don't have weakness."

Beneath the cracked mountain, called the Deathcay-mountain, after it, the Wendlock, the land of Thallerion ancestors.

"Listen everyone, Wendlock is almost there, just don't lose hope. But, we still have to be prepared, Wendlock Forest was a mysterious land back then, but don't worry, our soldiers will come first, to secure the path."

"Dad, the children were hungry, and we don't have enough foods." Matheros brought a basket of bread, inside a three big loaves.

"Me too, I'm hungry too." The young prince tickled his own stomach. But, Matheros cut a small piece of bread and gave it on to him, thinking it might help to endure hunger.

"Don't worry, young prince, there are people will come to accompany us there. I'm sure, there are foods there." Alexunther looked forward breathed the fresh air as his face was brighten with a new chance.

King Cerceux said, there is still civilian lived in the Wendlock, though he heard , there were still old people there, continue practicing of witchcraft in making magical weapons, but that practices believed to be forgotten by the new generation in the Thallerion. And he really don't know if they were still practicing such witchcraftmanship?

********************************************************************************************************

King Hedromus, upset when the Moonatorians warriors failed to bring the boy. His raging aura, a fire element, emanating through his oppression to the Thallerion people, all of slaves was devoured by the fierce bears, like honeybees yearning to drool, Thallerion was consumed by the ravenous Ursa invader.

"All of you, kneel down in our king Hedromus!" The vanguard bellowed, their voices cracking like whips, ordering all slaves to prostrate themselves before their new master. "Kneel!!!!"

"And tell the truth, before the king of Moonatoria, Where exactly the boy was hiding? " The Punisher holding a long, whiptail. Standing in front of the citizens of Thallerion bitterly kneeled down.

"We don't know!" They trembled as they saw the Punisher holding a long whiptail.

WHACK! "Wrong answer!" Every hit turn all in writhes. They suffered by a biting whip.

***

The king's blood relatives immediately fled, and Xerxez was taken, dragged towards the Wendlock forest, a sacred place untouched by the shadow of Moonatoria's king. Though, the king of Moonatoria, insistently and incessantly, searching the boy. But, the Thallerion people keep their mouth shut.

The people still waited, their gazes fixed on the heavens, praying that one day a valiant Orion would come to reclaim them from the Bear's oppression. But some grew weary of believing in Orion, convinced it was merely an old people's fiction—for if it were true, why had they been abandoned in the midst of war, left to face such horrors alone?
