"What!? Really?" Ames asked, surprised.
"Take a look at it yourself!" Luke passed the book back to him.
Ames was confused at first, but after taking the book back from him, his mouth opened wide in shock.
"H-How…how can this happen?" Ames got the greatest shock of his life. The letters in the book that were in an ancient language were now in the language of the continent.
He had the book with him for years, but it was the first time something this miraculous had happened.
He lifted his head up to look at Luke, who was smiling from ear to ear, reveling in amusement seeing Ames's expression.
Ames chuckled, shaking his head. "No matter how hard you try, the heaven only reveals the secrets in front of the one it has destined to!"
He started skimming through the pages and read everything that had been unreadable for all these years.
As he kept reading, surprise, excitement, understanding and enlightened expressions passed through his face in sequence.
"Hahahaha!! So, that's where the problem is!" Ames laughed out loud in realization upon finally being able to understand what he was doing wrong all this time.
"It doesn't use mana at all, but prana!" Ames said.
"Yes! But that's what I'm most surprised about! How did you even form the runic circle when it can't be casted from mana!" Luke asked.
"At first, I couldn't! Then I studied the runes and realized that the mana runes are very similar to the ones in the book! While researching, I even had my doubts whether the mana runes were a simplified version of them!"
"I then studied the circuits in the circle and tweaked some parts of it! I didn't know at that time that the energy used is prana, but I knew for sure that it was not mana!" Ames kept on explaining.
"I changed the energy receiver unit of the circle from the original one to a mana receiver unit. I didn't change the conversion unit but modified the circulator and ejector units in the runic circle to allow energy with my mana signatures to flow down the connector vein channels! And somehow, I was able to form the magic circle you saw then."
"But there was always something wrong, the energy extracted when moves through the vein channels mixes with the mana and coming out of the ejector unit, it gets murky, resulting in the swelling and bursting of the beasts, in place of healing the wounds!"
"No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't fix this issue, the mana and prana always mix up, and separating it becomes almost impossible!" Ames sighed in helplessness.
"Fuck! You really are a genius!" Noah said with mouth agape. He didn't understand much of what Ames said, but he could gauge that he had done something incredible.
"It's like you almost created a new kind of magic!" Luke praised, shocked at Ames's brilliance.
"What's the use! It's still doesn't work." Ames said with a chuckle.
"How about you try to add a valve unit in front of the ejector unit of the circle, so that the mana is being stopped and only the prana flows out!" Luke said.
"We can also add a Deflector channel that will make the mana move back in the vein channels and keep the circle steady and running! Hahaha!! Great! you're a genius Luke!" Ames jumped up in excitement as he hugged Luke.
He immediately sat on the ground, closed his eyes and started meditating without wasting a second.
"How the hell do you know so much about runic circle construction!" Noah asked, confused.
"I just said it on a whim! I didn't even know that a valve unit exists!"
Noah's face twisted as he scoffed at Luke.
A red runic magic circle appeared in front of Ames. The runes between the concentric rings of the magic circle started breaking and separating from the circle. They moved and floated to different positions and readjusted themselves.
A few new runes formed in the air and were added in between the circle, transforming the magic circle into a different kind and the color of the circle changed from red to a light amber.
The new magic circle became stable and after a few seconds dispersed into motes of light.
Just then Ames opened his eyes and stood up with a wide smile on his face.
"I think I'll be successful this time! let's find a beast to experiment on!" Ames said excitedly and turned around to move forward.
But just then, as if even the heaven was helping him, a boar came running from within the forest towards them, it's tusk in front and snorting as it rushed in their direction.
A runic magic circle appeared on Ames's wrist as a wave of pressure fell on the boar and it was stomped to the ground.
"You can also do gravity magic?" Noah asked in shock.
"Just the basic, I'm not specialized in it!" he said with a smile.
Another magic circle formed in front of his palm and grey smoke released out of it, moving towards the boar.
The boar inhaled the smoke and slowly fell unconscious.
'Haha! He can even double cast! Why the hell am I not surprised!' Noah shook his head as he chuckled.
Ames released the casting as the magic circle vanished. He pulled a dagger out and walked towards the boar.
He formed a cut on its belly as blood flowed out of it. His fingers moved as mana flowed out and lifted the boar in the air and he moved towards the nearby tree along with it.
He placed it at the base of the trunk and waved his fingers. Mana flowed out and formed a light amber runic circle between the tree trunk and the boar.
Green prana flowed out of the tree and passed through the circle towards the cut in the boar's belly.
The prana covered the wound and slowly the blood stopped flowing out and hardened, the skin wriggled and started closing itself up. New skin formed and fur grew out. The area looked as if there was never any would there at all.
The circle vanished into motes of light and Ames kept standing motionless. He held his breath in anticipation, hoping for the spell to succeed this time.
After a long wait, nothing abnormal happened, there was no swelling of the skin or the area turning black.
After a few seconds, the boar slowly opened its eyes, he looked towards Ames and jumped up, it shrieked back in fear seeing him and ran off immediately inside the forest, perfectly healthy and nothing abnormal in its behavior.
All three of them stood stupefied in their places. Silence stretched between them for a long time, which was then broken by the loud laughter of Ames.
"HAHAHAHA! Finally! Finally, I've done it!" he roared his lungs out.
