LIZZIE
"Now that the two leeches have finally dragged their sorry asses out," Elena says, striding to the front of the room with the grace of a snake. "I propose we choose a new leader—someone worthy."
She flicks her ponytail like it's a crown and turns on the nearest target. "You. Get up and wipe my shoes. I can't bear the dusty air you bring—let alone share a classroom with gutter scum like you."
I stay seated, my pen twisting in my hands as I watch them.
I'm not Hope—I'm definitely not her—and I have zero interest in playing the hero. Still, Elena's power trip is already starting to rot the atmosphere and get on my fucking nerves.
She thinks she's queen now that Josie—her puppet master—is out of the picture.
"Why would I?" Sage speaks up. "Hope would crush you like a bug if she saw this crap. Or have you completely lost your spine without Josie whispering in your ear?"
Elena freezes, her smirk faltering.
