Alexei had never met anyone as stupid as Elijah. This kid could really drive a man mad with his words.
First, he blamed himself for killing Magnus Harrow, and then he'd gone and followed some manipulative sociopath, cursing a few hooligans to death.
Did Alexei care if those bastards died?
Of course not. They could spawn and die all over again for all he cared.
But why must Elijah feel so guilty?

Alexei could understand the first, while the second made his skin itch.

Even now, as the exorcist sat beside him on the couch, guilt and shame rolled off him in waves. His dark lashes trembled, his lips pressed into a thin line as though waiting for judgment.
Ironically, Alexei was in no position to judge anyone.
