Elijah nearly twisted his ankle as he stood up. His legs prickled with numbness from being stuck in one position too long.
The car doors slammed shut, drawing his attention to Alexei.
The youngster was rolling his shoulder.
Elijah silently touched the side of his head before moving toward the outer gate.
Although he had taken precautions, he nearly got himself enchanted. Worst of all, he had almost dragged Alexei into danger again.
He had been trying to stay clear of Alexei, and yet, here they were about to start their cohabitation.
The wind carried the chill of the deep night with it. It easily slithered inside his clothes, forcing another shudder.
His sigh turned into a white fog. It vanished into the darkness just like the last of his control over the spirits.
Elijah just hoped this staying together wouldn't be for long.
"Brother, do you want to come inside?" he asked, his fingers moving on the lock before pushing the gates.
