The evening sun shine dimly over the kingdom of Lianhua, giving it a beautiful glow. Yuyan sat lazily by the pond in the garden, the slight wind blew few strands of hair over her face. Her eyes stared blankly at the fishes as they fed on the seeds she kept throwing into the pond.
Just then, she heard footsteps approaching from behind her, she turned to find that it was Tian Yu. Her heart skipped a beat as she quickly turned away, pretending she didn't see him. They'd been married for three months but she still couldn't bring herself to take the initiative of talking to him first. She avoided him as much as she could but that only seemed to even draw him closer.
Tian Yu walked closer, expecting her to turn around and acknowledge his presence, but she ignored him. A smirk tugged his lips as a sly thought crept his mind.
He slowly leaned closer, reaching to collect the bowl from which shee was picking grains from to feed the fishes.
Yuyan froze as she felt his warm breath against her neck. Her grip tightened on the bowl as she refused to let go.
"That's mine." She breathed, still not turning around. Her heart was racing so fast, but it wasn't from fear, it was his presence, the feel of his warm breath against her skin, his scent. She wanted to turn around so badly, to take a look at his face, but she still refused to give in.
"And you're mine." He whispered, his fingers brushing against hers gently as he released her grip from the bowl. Yuyan's breath hitched as she reluctantly let go, finally turning around, but unexpectedly, her lips met with his, he was so close, she hadn't expected him to be so close.
She froze, her heart racing even faster as she felt his lips against hers, realizing what just happened, she quickly pulled away, her brows furrowing as she raised her hand to slap his across the face. How could he kiss her without her permission?.
But Tian Yu caught her hand just in time, "You did that, not me." He whispered, his eyes softening. Goodness he'd missed the feel of her lips, he wanted to kiss her so badly, but he knew she wasn't willing yet.
"I...you came too close." She replied, biting her bottom lip nervously.
Tain Yu smirked teasingly, "My bad, I didn't expect you to turn around since you already ignored my presence."
Yuyan pulled her hand away from his grip, quickly turning away to hide her flushed cheeks, he always seemed to have this effect on her, somehow, she couldn't resist him.
Tian Yu didn't say anything and quietly sat beside her on the little rock which she was sitting, then he started to throw seeds into the pond.
"Why do you hate me?" He asked quietly. Yuyan turned to face him, surprised by his sudden question.
"I don't hate you." She quickly replied. "I just... I was married out against my will and...I just..."
"So you don't hate me?" He asked, turning to look into her eyes.
"Why would I? You're a good man, it's not like you asked for this marriage." She replied as she looked up at him.
"What if I told you I wanted this marriage? I wanted you, and I still want you." He said softly, slowly leaning closer. He'd held back for so damn long it had began to devour him from within. Why couldn't she remember him, all the memories they had together, all they went through, her love for him, his love for her. He was staring at the girl he loved and he couldn't do anything. It was eating him up.
He just wished she would stop avoiding him and pushing him away, he just wanted her to give him a chance.
Yuyan was caught off guard by his sudden confession. She hadn't expected him to be so blunt and honest.
"You want me? You don't even know me, you know nothing about what I'm like, it was only by coincidence that we got married." She replied, her voice trembling slightly as she backed away from him.
"I've known you a long time, cherry blossom."
Yuyan raised her brow "What did you just call me?" That nickname, why did it sound familiar. She'd heard it from somewhere before.
"Yuyan." He lied.
"No not that, you just said Cherry blossom. Why'd you call me that?"
"You don't like it? Your beauty Yuyan, your beauty reminds me of cherry blossom." He said quietly, reaching to brush few strands of her hair off her face and tuck them behind her ears.
Yuyan's cheeks flushed brightly as her breath hitched. She was supposed to push him away, slap his hand off and get angry at him for whatever this was that he was doing to her, but she didn't budge, her body refused to move.
"Can you not avoid me? I won't touch without your permission, can you give me a chance?" He asked softly, his tone desperate.
Yuyan breathed softly, her gaze fixed on his crimson eyes. Her eyes scanned his features, his thick brows, his slim nose, his cherry lips, he was the most good-looking human she'd ever seen. She had never observed him from this close before, but seeing him right now, looking and begging so desperately, she couldn't reject him.
Slowly, she nodded. Tian Yu couldn't hold back the excited smile that tugged his face. She really agreed. Damn he wished he could hug her right now, but he already promised not to touch her so that was out of the option.
He reluctantly pulled his hand away, coughing awkwardly as he turned to face the pond, "Dinner, we should have dinner together. Is that okay?"
"Yes." She replied quietly. He stood up from the rock, then stretched his hand to help her up, but just as she took his hand, she accidentally stepped on her dress and slipped into the pond, dragging Tain Yu along with her as she let out a shrieking sound.
