Edward returned home. The night was heavy, and the city was silent...In his hand, the bottle of wine Maya had given him.He sat on the edge of the table, slowly turning it between his fingers.
"Strange… how much this resembles you."
He whispered as he stared at the bottle. There was something luxurious about it... tempting... deadly.
He set it on the table and stared into the void.
"What if Maya really is just a victim? What if the real killer... is someone very close to me?"
He grabbed his laptop and entered the police chief's fingerprints. The upload took five seconds—but it felt like eternity. Then the result appeared:Perfect match. His heart froze.
"He killed her."
Before he could move any further—📞 The phone rang.An unknown number.
He answered.
"Edward, I know you're digging... and you're almost there. You're smart. That crazy Maya helped you...but now it's time for the whole truth."
He froze.It wasn't Maya's voice.
"Who are you?"
"I'm her father. Meet me in half an hour...Hotel Abyss, again."
🕶️ At the hotel...
He opened the door and stepped into the room.
The man stood near the window, two of his men behind him.He gestured for them to leave.
Then he walked toward Edward and said:
"You know nothing about Maya. You think she's just a dangerous woman? No… she's the result of our sins."
Edward sat down.He said nothing.
"I used her mother to seduce businessmen—bank directors, company heads...After the seduction, I'd kill them and steal their information and money."
He lit a cigarette.
"But she... betrayed me.She fell in love with a cop.Your boss. When I found out, I raised my gun at her.I didn't shoot… just threatened. But the police chief fired a single shot to protect her.It hit her chest... and she died."
He paused, took a deep drag.
"We ran—he and I.I was going to kill him, but we made a deal:He'd cover it up... and I'd let him rise and live.In exchange, we framed the little girl... Maya."
He raised his eyes.
"She was seven.Instead of jail, they put her in rehabilitation. She came out with an empty heart... a twisted mind...and a single goal:Control. Revenge. And no one controls her."
He walked closer to Edward.
"Now you're living what we lived. You fell for her... or at least, under her control. And if she loves? It becomes obsession. She'll own you, devour you,and make you forget who you are."
He paused—then smirked:
"My warning to you...Don't be like us.If you think you're saving her, truth is... she chooses who saves who."
Edward was suffocating from the weight of the truth. He sighed and whispered:
"Was Maya the guilty one...or the true victim? And am I... next?"
