Chapter 134 - Hibari, the Corpse Maniac!

A deceased person's Kekkei Genkai cannot be activated. Therefore, even if these five Kaguya clan corpses possessed a Kekkei Genkai, Hibari couldn't make them use it.

However, Edo Tensei could. This Jutsu allowed the deceased to 'live in the period when they possessed their abilities.'

And Hibari wanted to simply modify this Jutsu, revive these five 'dead,' and then utilize their Kekkei Genkai abilities to see if he could combine them to create a powerful 'skeleton monster' or something similar.

Hibari had previously considered directly applying Edo Tensei, finding a few living sacrifices to revive these five individuals, and then starting the modifications. Wouldn't that work?

It sounded plausible, but upon closer inspection, it wasn't feasible. First, Hibari sought the concept of a 'summoned beast.' Although Edo Tensei was connected to Summoning Jutsu, they weren't fundamentally the same.

The 'reanimated dead' summoned via Edo Tensei would turn into dust once the Jutsu was released. Therefore, if Hibari wanted to use them frequently, he would constantly need to prepare living sacrifices and 'modify' them each time, which would be too troublesome and not very practical!

So, he had to make some changes to the Edo Tensei Jutsu. First, he needed to be able to recall the use of Kekkei Genkai abilities, and he had to skip the 'living sacrifice' step, directly using their bones for this operation.

Based on the information left by Tobirama, this possibility indeed existed. However, without a living sacrifice, it was still impossible to perfectly recall the souls from the Pure Land.

Tobirama had conducted relevant experiments on this point and left behind some data. After all, Tobirama himself wasn't an evil person; he had naturally considered methods to cast this Jutsu without using living sacrifices, but he ultimately didn't find such a method, thus having to continue using living sacrifices.

But Hibari didn't mind. It didn't matter whether the souls of these deceased individuals returned or not; perhaps it was even better if they didn't come back to bother him. As long as some, or even a part, of the Kekkei Genkai abilities could be recalled, that was enough.

Therefore, he wasn't going to use any living sacrifices. He would directly use the corpses of these individuals themselves. Simply put, he would brutally 'simplify' the Edo Tensei Jutsu, discarding all other effects, and only needing to activate the capabilities of these individuals' corpses.

While it sounded simple and brutal, in reality, Edo Tensei itself was a very difficult Jutsu. To extract some 'principles' from it to cast a new 'Jutsu' was not something that could be done casually. This required a certain amount of experimentation and research.

Fortunately, Hibari was relatively free at the moment, so he had some time to do such things.

Hiyoko had already thoroughly studied and researched some Edo Tensei data, and Hibari was now reviewing it merely to deepen his understanding.

Hibari slightly set down the book in his hand, then frowned and said, "This Jutsu requires a lot of experimental 'materials.' Doing this at home definitely won't work... It seems I got happy too soon. I need those guys to move faster and build the lab I need as soon as possible."

These 'materials' were actually 'corpses.' Hibari only had five Kaguya clan corpses, so he naturally couldn't be too 'wasteful.' What if the Jutsu wasn't successfully researched, and the materials were exhausted?

Therefore, before completing this Jutsu, he needed to prepare more materials.

Thinking of this, Hibari re-sealed the five corpses, then slung the large scroll onto his back and turned to leave the room.

Without further delay, Hibari quickly arrived at the Hokage Residence again, naturally pushing open the Anbu door. Upon entering, he saw a few Anbu members still processing documents. It seemed that Hiruzen not only had to fight on the front lines but also worry about matters back here. Upon closer thought, Hibari himself, as Deputy Commander, had indeed been too hands-off...

But then he thought, Hiruzen was going to become the Third Hokage in the future. Wasn't he 'training' his administrative abilities? In that sense, this was actually a good thing.

Having 'comforted' himself with these twisted rationalizations, Hibari cast aside his tiny bit of guilt. He looked at the Anbu members inside and asked, "Are you busy with something urgent?"

Upon hearing Hibari's question, one of the Anbu members replied, "Deputy Commander, it's nothing too urgent, just some matters regarding the Anbu's operations that require your or the Commander's confirmation. Therefore, when you and the Commander are out on missions, we have to compile these things and then contact the Commander to confirm the relevant matters..."

At this point, the guy even chuckled and added, "Now that you, Deputy Commander, are here, there's no need to report these matters to the Commander. You can make the decisions on these matters yourself."

Hibari quickly waved his hand upon hearing this. "No, no, no, just leave it to Hiruzen. Just pretend I wasn't here. I have some things to do here too. Since it's nothing too urgent, you can help me relay an order."

The guy, upon hearing Hibari's words, didn't refuse. He quickly put down his work and asked, "Deputy Commander, what orders need to be relayed?"

"It's like this: go tell the prison to prepare more death row inmates for me. Also, go ask the Intelligence Division if they have any more corpses that are no longer valuable? If there are any corpses that haven't been disposed of yet, don't throw them away. That's a waste! Send them all to me. The more, the better," Hibari didn't hide anything and directly stated what he needed.

The guy listening to Hibari was stunned for a moment, but he was used to such things. The Anbu was originally a place where the Hokage handled 'dirty work,' and Tobirama himself was a 'Kinjutsu Inventor.' In recent years, there had been occasions where 'corpses' were needed, so the Anbu had done this before.

Their own Deputy Commander was also the Hokage's grandson, so it was perfectly normal for him to inherit some of the Hokage's 'bad habits.'

It's just corpses, what's the big deal?

So, the Anbu member quickly nodded and said, "Understood, Deputy Commander. I'll go arrange these matters for you right away. But where should the corpses and death row inmates be sent?"

Hibari thought for a moment and replied, "Forget about the death row inmates; just dispose of them as 'corpses.' Otherwise, if one of those heinous criminals accidentally escapes, we'd have to go catch them. Anyway, they're all bad news, so just kill them all and send them to the military factory. I've built a research lab there, and it should be almost finished. Even if it's not, there should be a place to store these corpses. If all else fails, just seal all the corpses in this large scroll..."

As Hibari spoke, he took off the large scroll from his back and handed it to the Anbu member, then cautioned him, "This scroll contains important materials for me, so don't lose it."

"No problem, don't worry, Deputy Commander. Who in this village would dare to snatch something from our Anbu anyway?" The guy chuckled, taking the scroll and slinging it onto his back, saying with a laugh.

"Hm, I'm just reminding you," Hibari also nodded with a chuckle.

He knew very well that in Konohagakure, no one would really dare to touch anything belonging to the Anbu. In fact, with Tobirama, the Hokage, currently out of the village, and Hiruzen, the true 'Commander,' also absent, his administrative rank as Senju Hibari was currently at the 'front-line' position. If anything major happened, he would be the 'one in charge'!

After arranging all these matters, the guy was about to leave to carry out the orders. Just as he was about to step out of the door, Hibari suddenly called out.

"Oh, right, you're from the Hyūga clan, aren't you?" Hibari suddenly asked.

The person was stunned for a moment, then took off his mask, revealing his Byakugan, and asked somewhat strangely, "Deputy Commander, how did you know?"

"Nonsense. In this entire Anbu, only you Hyūga clan sticklers would address me as 'Deputy Commander' like that. It's all that bad influence from Hitenn... Alright, I wasn't going to talk about that. I just suddenly remembered something I needed to ask you." Hibari first complained with a hint of annoyance, then continued with the serious matter.

The guy quickly asked upon hearing Hibari's words, "Deputy Commander, do you have any more instructions?"

"Have the battles in the Land of Water and the Land of Earth already begun?" Hibari asked.

"Although we haven't received definitive intelligence, according to our estimates, the Land of Water's fleet should arrive in the Land of Earth within the next two days, so it's very likely they've already started fighting..." The Anbu member quickly replied.

"Is that so? In that case, the Kaguya clan members from the Land of Water must have all gone to the front lines as well?" Hibari asked again.

This time, the guy quickly nodded and said, "Yes, according to our intelligence, due to various reasons, the Kaguya clan, raising the banner of 'revenge,' were the first to respond to the Land of Water's war mobilization and were among the first combat units to depart."

"Hm, good. Since they're already on the front lines, with their personalities, they'll surely be at the very forefront. In war, it's inevitable that people will die. Go put out a bounty for me on the black market, saying I want to purchase large quantities of Kaguya clan corpses. As for the price... just buy them at three times the market price, no limit on quantity," Hibari thought for a moment, then said with great generosity.

The black market had everything for sale. Corpses, as 'materials' for research, were commonly traded there, so this wasn't a new business.

If Hibari remembered correctly, there were still bounties on the black market from various unidentified individuals for their Senju clan corpses, as well as Uchiha clan eyes, Hyūga clan eyes, and so on.

Therefore, the sudden addition of a 'project' to acquire Kaguya clan corpses wouldn't be a big deal on the black market at all; it wouldn't even cause a ripple.

The Anbu member quickly nodded upon hearing Hibari's words and said, "Yes, Deputy Commander, I'll go arrange that for you right away."

"Hm, go on," Hibari nodded and said.
