"That's nothing," Daniel Carter said casually.
Having chatted up to now, most of the doubts in my heart had been resolved, and I felt a sudden relief, light and joyful.
Daniel Carter noticed my relief and asked with a smile, "Now you don't think our family is being nice to you just to dig out your heart, pull out your lungs, and draw your blood, do you?"
Embarrassed by his teasing, I blushed, "I'm sorry, I was being narrow-minded before."
"It's okay as long as it's clear now. I didn't say anything before because I thought you had forgotten these things, and I didn't want to bring them up. Besides, you were about to get married; if our family suddenly started treating you well for no apparent reason, it would have only caused you trouble and led your future family to misunderstand."
