Chapter 3 - Chapter 3! Preparation

There are many gun shops in USA, so many that you can find one just by walking around on the street, and even in some supermarkets, you can see shops selling firearms.

But Shen Ye didn't just pick any random shop to carry out his plan; that would be too risky. After walking several blocks and carefully comparing multiple gun shops, he finally settled on one that seemed relatively easier to target.

This gun shop had no surveillance cameras at its entrance. Although its location wasn't exactly secluded—in fact, it could be considered unfavorable because the Raccoon City Police Department was not far from the gun shop—fortunately, there weren't many pedestrians passing by. Moreover, due to the 'darkness under the lamp' effect and recent murders in the vicinity, there were no Raccoon City Police patrols here, making it easier to succeed.

Having selected his target, Shen Ye didn't go straight in. There were quite a few customers inside the gun shop, so he could only hide in a corner across from the shop, peeking out from time to time.

After waiting for about half an hour, the sky began to darken, and the customers in the shop finally left. Shen Ye looked left and right, confirming that no one was paying attention to him, before walking towards the gun shop and pushing the door open.

As soon as he pushed open the gun shop door, a middle-aged white man, a burly figure standing behind the counter, enthusiastically spread his hands towards him:

"Welcome, my esteemed guest! Welcome to Robert Kendo's Gun Shop, the best gun shop in Raccoon City. You're sure to find something you like here."

The enthusiastic gun shop owner made Shen Ye suddenly feel a bit awkward. As he pondered whether to switch to another shop, he suddenly felt that the name Robert Kendo sounded familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before.

After squinting and thinking for a moment, Shen Ye remembered, muttering to himself, "So it's that gun shop owner! The one who participated in the S.T.A.R.S firearm tender. I remember he had a daughter."

Although Robert Kendo was just a supporting character, and even a character who died quickly in the old version of the Resident Evil game, his storyline was quite touching, so Shen Ye had some impression of him and a bit of a good feeling.

However, good feelings aside, he still had to act. He didn't have extra time to pick a new target.

"Consider it an advance payment," Shen Ye thought to himself. "After the Mansion Incident is over, I'll find a way to help him so that he and his daughter can leave safely."

With this thought, Shen Ye's mood lightened considerably. He walked to the counter, like a regular customer, first looking around at the merchandise in the gun shop, then said to Robert, "Hey, buddy, although I've always been someone who opposes violence, I desperately need a weapon to save my life right now..."

"I understand what you mean, young man. Recently, those incidents have caused widespread panic." Before Shen Ye could finish, Robert Kendo showed an understanding smile. He glanced at Shen Ye, then took out a shotgun from under the counter and placed it in front of Shen Ye: "The M870, Remington's most classic shotgun. It's the best self-defense weapon. Believe me, every USA citizen has one ready behind their bedroom door, ready to blow an intruder's head off at any moment."

"That's exactly what I need; it's absolutely beautiful!" Shen Ye nodded, appearing exceptionally pleased.

"Of course, she can be your closest companion, and she's even more reliable than your wife," Robert winked at Shen Ye.

Shen Ye gave Robert a deep look, nodded, but said nothing. Then, pretending to be a novice lacking experience with firearms, he handed the gun back: "Um... can you teach me how to use it? You know, I've always hated gun associations, so I've never learned how to use them."

"Of course!" Robert Kendo was an enthusiastic person, even more so with customers. He took the shotgun, leaning his upper body close to Shen Ye, pointing to the forend below the gun: "This is the forend, which is the feeding mechanism. You just need to..."

But before he could finish his sentence, Shen Ye, having achieved his goal, made his move.

He quickly extended his right hand, pressed Robert Kendo's head, and slammed it hard onto the counter with a loud thud. Robert was dazed from the impact.

However, Robert's body was very strong, and he had also received military training—after all, his brother had participated in some of S.T.A.R.S's training. In this situation, he still tried to counterattack, simultaneously reaching for the pistol at his waist.

But at such close range, drawing a gun was undoubtedly a foolish move, because at such close range, nothing is faster than one's bare hands. His hand had just touched the pistol when Shen Ye's fist had already struck his jaw.

Slap!

This heavy punch directly knocked Robert Kendo unconscious, without even a groan.

Looking at the gun shop owner sprawled on the ground, Shen Ye clapped his hands and shook his head, saying, "American Iaijutsu, that's all it is!"

However, he also knew that the opponent had been too careless; if the opponent had been fully prepared, it wouldn't have been so easy to succeed.

Next, Shen Ye first dragged the gun shop owner into a corner, then closed the shop door before going to find the equipment he needed.

Because he was dealing with non-human creatures, Shen Ye naturally bypassed those bolt-action weapons that looked very powerful. However, since USA had long prohibited gun shops from selling automatic firearms, his options were actually not very wide.

After careful consideration, Shen Ye finally chose two AR15s as his primary weapons.

He actually found a Type 56 assault rifle, but that gun was clearly an old one, with the rifling almost worn smooth. Besides being a collector's item, it wasn't very useful, so he only detached the triangular bayonet from the gun to use as a dagger.

With a suitable rifle, next came handguns, which was much simpler. Shen Ye chose a Beretta 92 and a Glock 17.

Actually, Shen Ye originally only planned to bring two Berettas. For him, the double-safety Glock was actually quite dangerous. But he unexpectedly found extended magazines for Glock in the gun shop, which immediately made him change his mind.

He tucked the Glock pistol into his pants, then packed all the other guns, including the shotgun, into a large black backpack. He then stuffed in bullets and magazines until he felt it would affect his movement, at which point he stopped.

With the bag on his back, Shen Ye didn't leave immediately. He watched the clock in the shop, and only when it approached six o'clock, as darkness neared, did he get up.

And before leaving, Shen Ye didn't forget to leave a note for the unconscious Robert:

"This was a fair transaction."

Although the other party might not understand it when he woke up, Shen Ye did this just to give himself some comfort. After all, he felt very bad about taking the other party's guns.
