Kaelith had thought mentioning the fact that she had missed him so much would make his wife flustered; however it did make her react in quite the opposite way.
The air between them snapped like a frayed cord. Instead, Sana's face hardened in a flash, her pupils narrowing as if she'd been waiting for the exact excuse to unleash a storm.
"I was missing the feeling of my fists against your back!" He heard his wife Sana say before she launched herself at him, throwing punches at his back nonstop making Kaelith blink twice.
Her fist met his back with a surprising force that was almost comical given her delicate frame. The rapid staccato of her blows sounded like a tiny drumbeat, each one a punctuation of the grievance she'd harbored while he delayed.
Kaelith's surprise translated into a dazed, involuntary blink .. twice as if the blows had registered more in his pride than in his skin.
