Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Suoh Mikoto

It was a cold and silent night in a Japanese city. In the middle of the nocturnal city, a young red-haired boy could be seen running. He turned right and entered a dark alley. Following the boy into the dark alley, a humanoid being with black bat-like wings pursued him. The being looked into the alley with its naturally nocturnal vision but couldn't find the young boy. Landing on the ground, the being walked through the alley while saying, "Where are you, human? No need to be afraid. I won't hurt you…"

When the being approached a trash can, it slowly reached out to lift the lid.

"…"

The moment the being removed the lid, "…" a large piece of wood pierced through its head, killing it instantly.

The boy grinned and said, "Never underestimate humanity, you shitty demon!"

The red-haired young man emerged from the trash can, shaking his clothes to remove the garbage.

[It'd be easier to use my power.]

Hearing a disappointed voice, the boy responded, "That way, I'd be screaming to the entire supernatural world that the legendary Sekiryuutei has awakened. But you're just mad because I used Command T."

[That magic reminds me of the white one. A power capable of reducing everything.]

"Don't be jealous, Ddraig."

[I'm not jealous.]

"Hahahaha…" The young boy, who appeared to be between 7 and 10 years old, laughed loudly in the cold night, breaking the silence.

THIS RED-HAIRED YOUNG BOY IS THE CURRENT SEKIRYUUTEI.

(…?)

I am… well, it doesn't matter who I am. All that matters is that a few years ago, I was reborn in this world. That God still said it wasn't a fanfic, but I'd bet the Boosted Gear that someone's reading this.

[HEY, DON'T BET ME!]

That was Ddraig yelling at me again for making so little of him.

[Why are you so carefree?]

So you'd prefer Hyoudou Issei? I asked the lazy Ddraig, who called me carefree.

[NEVER! THAT BASTARD TARNISHED MY NAME. I, WHO AM FEARED BY ALL IN THE SUPERNATURAL WORLD AS THE DRAGON OF DOMINATION!]

Yeah… Ddraig is still furious about what he saw in my past memories. And who wouldn't be? I mean, you're a proud, super-powerful dragon feared worldwide, but a mere human who becomes a lowlife devil in no time turns you into a joke. If I remember correctly from the novel, Ddraig is 7.9 out of the eight pawn pieces, while Issei is 0.1… that just shows how insignificant Hyoudou Issei is, to the point of barely being worth a single pawn piece, because 0.1 of a pawn piece would be about 10% of the piece's power. But leaving that insignificant trash aside…

When I was born, I was abandoned by my parents at an orphanage. Apparently, I'd be one more mouth to feed, so they left me and kept my twin sister. But I think it was good to be abandoned because I couldn't bear to look at my mother. Spending nine months in her womb was a bit traumatic. I can't look at a pregnant woman without remembering it. But I'm still angry—they didn't even give me a name, their eldest son. I was born a few minutes earlier, so I'm older. So… I kind of chose a Japanese name, no, it's much better—it's literally the name of an anime character I'm identical to: Mikoto Suoh or Suoh Mikoto. But there's a bigger reason I chose this name. Suoh means "dragon," and Mikoto means "your mark on the world." It's also someone who dislikes superficiality and cowardice. Well, I personally don't like cowardice. Though… superficiality can sometimes be a drag.

(Some House)

After a bath in the house I fixed up using magic, I turned on the TV…

…Hey, don't say it's a crime; I needed a roof over my head. Besides, the owners are on vacation in Hawaii after I used magic on the boss to give them a fat work bonus.

Oh! …I forgot to grab the newspaper at the door.

I got off the couch and went to the door, opened it, and walked to the mailbox to get the newspaper. I've always liked reading.

Back on the couch, I started watching the news on TV.

I looked at the news but noticed something very wrong with the broadcast itself.

<…Students and a teacher from Ryoukou High School, during a school trip, had boarded safely…>

"What…!?" Hearing the name of a very familiar school, I focused on the TV, intrigued by what was being reported.

The TV was showing maritime footage that had been taken off the air. Like a movie, it showed most of the hull of a luxury ship sinking into the sea while emitting smoke.

"I can't believe this!?" It can't be what I'm thinking.

<…Mysterious shipwreck of the Aloha Sky…>

Seriously!? …How am I so far away? I really can't believe it.

No, I need to see the newspaper. I searched for the news in it.

'Luxury ship, maritime accident!'

'Nightmare on the school trip!'

'Status of the 233 high school students on board unknown…'

'No hope for survivors…'

'The name of the school, Ryoukou High School.'

"I'm so far from the canon… that… Stingy God!"

(Two Months Later)

It's been two months since the luxury ship incident. Besides attending elementary school, which is important to me, I train my entire life, physically and mentally. Yes, I study at a nearby school. Oh? How did I enroll… with magic, isn't it obvious?

But how can I put this? Tobio and the others really made the news these past two months as some of the survivors of the disaster.

When the ship split in half, one side sank to the bottom of the sea, while the other half was still being searched. From there, the bodies of some teachers were recovered—the only bodies found on board. From that search, the students' bodies weren't found intact. The search continued to try to recover the remains that had sunk to the ocean floor, but the sunken ship ended up in an unexpectedly tight crevice, making it extremely difficult to retrieve. For now, there was no prospect of recovering them.

Those on TV proposed a variety of theories for the shipwreck, while suspicious gossip circulated about what the real story was. Every day, some obscure commentator would say, "The cause is a secret weapon from a neighboring country!" or "Supernatural phenomenon!" or "It's the work of a UFO!" and things like that, but all this talk seems foolish.

Except for one, of course, to me. This is a supernatural phenomenon.

I'd bet my Boosted Gear that those spreading rumors about a supernatural phenomenon are humans who have contracts with demons.

[I told you not to bet me!]

"Yes, Ddraig, I've heard that my whole life."

Sighing, I return to my training. Lots of weightlifting and sit-ups; I need a strong body for the Boosted Gear, but the training is more to control Crash Magic.

It was hard to develop Disassembly with Crash Magic, and I still can't control it. After all, Crash Magic is pure destructive power. What Gildarts used to cancel magic or split into hundreds of cubes is called Disassembly Magic, a weaker version of Crash Magic.

I think an explanation of what Crash Magic is is necessary.

One of the strongest magics in existence, Crash is a power that can be considered a crystallization of pure destruction, not much different from the power of destruction of Sirzechs and the Bael house. It's not a magic that channels various aspects of nature or elements; this power is something more significant. It relies on the wielder's own strength, working in conjunction with the energies residing in their body. Just like non-elemental Caster Magics, which manipulate the caster's magical energies as a form of pressure, Crash works similarly by constantly pressing the user's body magic or the magic around them, to the point that any impact causes pulverization. The immense pressure makes the movement of magical particles so aggressive that everything is overwhelmed by it, as this immense pressure causes the magical particles' movement to become so aggressive that everything is dominated by it. The moment the pressurized magical energies, whose existence is present, overlap with the structural formations of anything the affected limb comes into contact with, whose sheer density envelops the atoms and molecules composing the caster's target, whether organic or inorganic, the pressurized energies annihilate the chosen target mercilessly.

All this happens in the blink of an eye, and one can infer from this incredible process that anything the caster comes into contact with is destroyed into countless fragments, living up to the praised power of this magic.

In terms of combat capability, Crash is better suited for close-range battles, with the magic wielder concentrating this immensely destructive power by infusing the pressurized magical energies to be used against an opponent to attack. This magic is capable of sending anything the user's fist comes into contact with flying several meters with incredible force. Thus, Crash is comparable to Slayer Magic, as both Lost Magic and the ever-loved revolve mainly around generating the magic's primary power over the user's body to drastically enhance the user's close-range capabilities. However, obviously, instead of harnessing an element, infusing this magic into the body results in a strength that can be classified as beyond superhuman, akin to a dragon's endurance in *Fairy Tail*, here in *DxD*, along with equivalent durability. As an arcane power more geared toward unleashing absolute devastation on anyone and anything the user deems a suitable target.

Crash could be better classified as something akin to a touch of death, as anything the magic user comes into contact with is mercilessly pulverized, effectively turning the user into a personification of a wasteland. However.

Crash's ability not only instantly deteriorates and disintegrates all forms of organic and inorganic matter by touch but also works just as well on supernatural forces like Magic and Curses—leveraging the inherent nature of this power to crush everything it comes into contact with. The user can nullify the effects of certain magics that have a tangible form simply by smashing them to pieces. In addition to its disintegration power breaking regular atomic structures, it can also break the binding forces between magical power, causing spells and the like cast toward the wielder to wither and quickly be reduced to nothing but fragments of magical particles that scatter to the winds within seconds of contact with the Crash wielder. Furthermore, Crash can also be used effectively as a defensive means. For example, by smashing the ground beneath them, the user can create a sort of cushion against enemy attacks and can use it as an ultimate barrier, sending an attacker flying back several meters with incredible force or simply breaking the actual earth. Even the most powerful spells, like Abyss Break and the Secret Arts of all types of Slayer Magic, are useless when confronted with this destructive and highly advanced magic, seemingly difficult to control, even for an extremely powerful individual like the user.

However, despite all its power, Crash is noticeably difficult to control fully, regardless of who is wielding its power, unless they possess an Archmage or Saint Mage level of control over the arcane powers residing within them. Indeed, if the wielder of this magic loses focus, even for a brief moment, while harnessing its strength, they can destroy objects like houses unintentionally—each step they take results in minor tremors that can still unleash incredible shockwaves that tear apart everything they propagate. Interestingly, Crash can be focused through a single part of the body; this affects the user and everything it touches. However, when out of focus, the power of this magic destroys any tool the user holds with their hands, meaning that unless Crash is wielded by an expert mage, there's no real point in using Magical Items, as simply using anything for any purpose is enough to make it crumble from its core, similar to how it would if exposed to a hundred years of aging. However, as the user becomes a walking destroyer that annihilates everything they touch, Crash can be considered similar to something like the Black Arts. In the reckless use of its strength, it could cause the wielder of its power to harm those they consider perfectly harmless.

[And that's exactly why I'm keeping this uncontrollable thing sealed.]

"Speaking of Crash, it reminds me of the first time I awakened the magic."

[You had released me before, remember? You could feel something in your left arm.]

I could sense a bit of envy in Ddraig's tone.

"I guess I should thank that stingy God for releasing each magic slowly instead of me being born with them already unlocked. I bet Crash would've destroyed my mother from the inside out."

[You forgot what happened when Crash was released?]

"How could I forget that? I destroyed the entire orphanage without leaving a single person alive; not even a piece of a body remained. Crash destroyed to the point that not even dust was left of a person."

[It was also the first time you were chased by devils.]

"Don't remind me; I had to escape through the sewers."

Time for a bath and a good sleep. I'm tired from the day—studying with a bunch of kids and training almost all day is exhausting.

(After the Bath)

Already in bed with his red pajamas, Mikoto is preparing for another night of sleep.

"Good night, Ddraig."

[Good night, partner.]

Mikoto, who had closed his eyes to sleep, suddenly opened them.

Even a green glow appeared on his left hand, indicating Ddraig.

"…"

"…"

[You felt it.]

"Yes, no doubt about it. Demons!"

[Looks like we're moving again.]

'It's impossible to have a peaceful life when you have magic in this world.'

[Do you regret having me?]

"Of course not. Without you, I'd probably be running from the entire supernatural world because I'd be destroying everything around me with Crash."

[Then let's beat these demons.]

"Yes!" Mikoto replied with a simple yes after having a mental conversation with Ddraig.

Mikoto got out of bed and went downstairs, approaching the door. He grabbed an iron rod and used enchantment to make it sharper than a magical steel sword. Then Mikoto used another enchantment to add the properties of a cross to the iron. Mikoto carried a cross-shaped pendant around his neck.

When the door was opened using magic, Mikoto pierced the demon's heart with speed, killing it instantly.

"You brat! Dieeeee!!!!"

Another demon attacked Mikoto, but Mikoto's hand was covered in white light. He punched the demon in the stomach.

"Gooh!" The demon spat out a considerable amount of blood.

And then… the demon fell to the ground, still alive.

"P-please… spare me… guha," the demon begged, spitting blood from the stomach wound that affected his entire bloodstream due to it being a light-based attack.

"No way," Mikoto replied coldly, holding a white sphere of light in his hand. This time, the attack wasn't just light—it had a holy element.

"N-no, I-I have a family. A-a wife and chi… AAAAAHHHH!!!!"

(After a Brutal and Slow Death)

What a mess, I'll have to move cities again. It's impossible to live in peace with supernatural creatures on your tail.

[Where to now, partner?]

Wherever the road takes us, Ddraig.

"And may it be a place where I can live in peace…"
