Chapter 73 - Chapter 9: Inviting Momo Yaoyorozu

Chapter 9: Inviting Momo Yaoyorozu

The bell for the last class of the afternoon rang out. The students of Class 1-A stopped their training, wiping the sweat from their faces. After a glance at the time, Mr. Aizawa announced, "That's it," officially ending the day's lessons.

"Whoa! Letting cold water soak into your skin after a hard workout is the best feeling ever!"

Eijiro Kirishima's boisterous voice echoed from the showers next to the locker room.

Yoshikage Kira, who was changing out of his gym clothes and back into his school uniform, adjusted his collar and said, deadpan, "Taking a cold shower immediately after intense exercise can cause symptoms like dizziness or catching a cold, you know."

"Don't worry, Class Rep!" Kirishima's wet, red head poked out from behind the curtain. He gave Kira a thumbs-up and a grin. "I'm indestructible! What's a little cold water going to do to me!?"

"I'm not the one who has to deal with you..."

Kira rolled his eyes. He finished organizing his things, put them in his locker, and had just stepped out of the changing room when he heard Kirishima's blood-curdling scream from behind him.

"AAAAAHHH—I've got a cramp! Somebody help me!!"

Serves you right, Kira thought. The showers have temperature controls, but he just had to use cold water. If he catches a cold tomorrow, it's his own fault...

Despite his thoughts, Kira stopped Fumikage Tokoyami, who was walking past him, and told him about Kirishima's predicament.

Tokoyami had initially shown a look of annoyance when Kira mentioned the cold shower, but he walked straight into the locker room.

He had just taken off his jacket when he heard the utterly pathetic screams. With a sigh, Dark Shadow emerged from behind his neck, wrapped itself around the fallen Kirishima, dragged him out of the shower, and unceremoniously dumped him on a blanket.

"Stop howling. Even a crow couldn't stand your screeching."

Kirishima obediently shut his mouth. He curled into a ball, covering his body with the blanket, and offered an embarrassed smile.

"This is so shameful... I'm never taking a cold shower again..." Kirishima buried his face in the blanket—weak, helpless, and pitiful.

"Class Rep, did something happen?"

Momo Yaoyorozu looked curiously at the boys' changing room, from which strange noises were emanating, and directed her question at Kira.

She was dressed in her proper school uniform. The hem of her skirt swayed gently, accentuating her long legs. If one looked closely, you could see she was wearing light makeup, which helped to hide her faintly flushed face from the training session.

"It's nothing. Let's go," Kira said, shaking his head. Kirishima's situation was a minor, embarrassing incident. It wasn't something to be broadcasted to a female classmate, was it?

"Eh? Yaomomo, where are you going with the Class Rep? Don't tell me it's a date!"

Ochaco Uraraka was drying her brown hair with a white towel. She watched as Kira and Momo, walking only a shoulder's-width apart, headed one after the other toward the General Studies building. She turned to Kyoka Jiro, who was leaning against the wall listening to music on her phone, and asked, "You were standing right here, weren't you? Did you hear what they were talking about?"

"Jiro? Jiro..." Seeing no reaction, Uraraka waved a hand in front of her face.

"What did you say?" Kyoka Jiro unplugged her earphone jacks from her phone and looked up, confused.

"It's nothing..." Uraraka said with a wry smile. "Want to walk home together?"

Midoriya had pushed himself too hard during training again and injured his arm. While it wasn't serious, and the Class Rep had given him first aid, he still needed to get it properly bandaged to prevent infection.

Iida is still here, but if Midoriya-kun isn't around, I don't really feel like walking with him... Uraraka thought to herself.

Unbeknownst to Iida, he had just been thoroughly friend-zoned.

"Sure, let's go," Jiro said, suspecting nothing. She was about to head home anyway but had gotten a news notification and couldn't help but finish reading it.

Uraraka casually glanced at Jiro's phone screen. It displayed a digital poster with a simple black theme and heavy-metal-style, cool-toned font: "'soul' is back! Challenging this clamorous world!"

A band, huh? So that's what Jiro is into... Uraraka didn't think much of it and fell into step beside Kyoka Jiro.

After his talk with Mr. Aizawa, Yoshikage Kira had found Momo Yaoyorozu and told her, "If you don't have anything to do, don't leave after school today. Wait for me."

Now, on the way to the Student Council office, he finally told the blushing Momo that he wanted her to attend the Sports Festival meeting with him. He then watched as her expression shifted from shy excitement to one of quiet resentment.

"Class Rep... is it appropriate for me to attend the meeting?" Momo quickly composed herself, her voice tinged with worry. "I heard that only the class presidents were invited. If I go, won't people look at our Class 1-A strangely...?"

"What are you worried about? It's just a small meeting about the Sports Festival. The Hero Course is bound to have some special privileges, right?"

Kira gave a nonchalant smile. "Besides, you look more like a class president than I do. Have some confidence. You must be used to high-stakes situations, aren't you?"

Although Momo's hero costume was a bit revealing, she herself never seemed to mind. But anyone could tell that Momo Yaoyorozu was a high-society young lady, carrying the air of the upper class. That's why, after hearing Aizawa's request, Kira had immediately thought of her. She was the Vice President, after all. She had to contribute at critical moments.

To put it simply, Kira's ideal Vice President was someone who would step up to manage the class when needed and proactively take on troublesome meetings in the Class President's stead.

Tenya Iida was excellent at handling internal class management. Kira was now cultivating Momo to handle external affairs. If his plan succeeded, he could peacefully be a class president who only needed to coast.

"By the way, the situation this time might be a little different." As Momo looked at him quizzically, Kira continued, "The person who called this meeting is the Student Council Secretary. She's somewhat hostile towards the Hero Course and might try to target us during this meeting. But I'm not worried..."

Kira looked at Momo with the most sincere gaze he could muster. "Because we have you. Our Hero Course's Goddess Athena. I'm sure you won't let us fall victim to the Student Council's schemes, right!?"

"Leave everything to me!" Momo was practically floating from the praise. This is the Class Rep I acknowledge! He holds me in such high regard! I can't let him down!

The Student Council Secretary, Erina Nakiri, right? Kira thought, a triumphant, scheming smile spreading across his face. I don't care what kind of plot you have against me. All I have to do is avoid the fight, isn't that right?
