Chapter 50: Sheer Heart Attack
Washroom.
Splash—
Yoshikage Kira scooped water into his hands and splashed his face several times. He took a few ragged breaths and looked at the handsome, blond young man with labored breathing in the mirror. Looking at his increasingly long fingernails, Kira let out a wry laugh.
"Why? Why did I have to inherit your Stand... Star Platinum, Crazy Diamond, even the useless Hermit Purple, I could have accepted any of them. But why did I get your ability..."
Of course, the person in the mirror didn't speak. It was all him talking to himself. After venting a little, Kira calmed down. He took the watch in his hand, his eyes fixed on the skull.
"What's done is done, no matter how much I regret it. What I should be thinking about now is how to use this watch-shaped bomb tank... Yoshikage Kira passed on his perverted Quirk to me. It would be a disservice to myself if I didn't master his abilities."
Normally, after a person's Quirk was detected at the age of four, they would naturally grasp the most basic way to use it. As they grew older, they would become more and more proficient, able to control it as if it were a part of their own body.
When Kira was four, the doctors had detected a strange energy in his body. Just as he knew how much water was in his bladder, he could vaguely sense the amount of this energy within him and knew how to release it.
When Kira used it and tested it repeatedly, he recognized it from a sense of déjà vu. This Quirk of his was the energy from JoJo known as "Hamon."
Then, he sensed another, different ability hidden within him. After similar tests, he concluded that it was the ability of "Killer Queen," which could turn objects or people into bombs.
He had once wondered why his ability was incomplete, but he had come to no conclusion. It was like a math problem with too few given conditions; he couldn't solve it.
But now, he might have found a small piece of a giant puzzle. "Yoshikage Kira," "the unspeakable thing," "All Might"...
Numerous people and things, all intricately linked to the anime from his original world, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, would become clues, allowing him to open the sealed door of truth.
So, first things first, how to use, or rather, how to activate this second ability—Sheer Heart Attack?
Kira tentatively pressed the skull, infusing it with Hamon. The feedback was strange. The watch in front of him had the characteristics of both a living being and a metal object—it could conduct Hamon to other objects and briefly control their consciousness.
This was just the feedback he received. In reality, Kira didn't feel any will from it at all.
Further experimentation.
Kira touched the skull again. This time, he didn't infuse it with Hamon, but used his "Killer Queen" Quirk, turning the watch into a bomb.
As Kira had expected, it was as if a soul had been injected into the skull. It began to turn its head up, down, forward, and backward, making a "ku—kuku—" sound.
After a moment, it seemed to be confused by its surroundings. It fell silent for a second or two, then the face of the watch suddenly cracked open, revealing its lower half, which was hidden inside—a lower body that looked like the treads of a tank.
It suddenly leaped out from the watch face and, in mid-air, quickly extended its hands from a slit under the treads—bony claws like a simple robot. It crossed its arms in a pose.
"Are you my master? I am a derivative of the invincible Stand, Killer Queen! The bomb tank that can track enemies indefinitely!"
Just like when MetalGreymon appeared, Kira could even faintly imagine the sparks flying from its body as it completed its transformation.
No, that wasn't what he should be commenting on. Kira looked with some hesitation at its skull, the upper and lower jaw of which were constantly opening and closing.
"You can talk?"
"Fufufu—Master, I am communicating with you telepathically! No one else can hear what I'm saying!"
The skull continued to shout excitedly in Kira's mind. "Master, are there any targets you want me to eliminate? I will definitely blow them to smithereens, not even leaving a trace of ash!"
So noisy...
Kira took the skull in his hand and, after a two-second silence, slammed it onto the ground.
It suddenly went quiet. When Kira picked it up from the ground, it seemed to be dizzy from the sudden attack. It didn't speak, but shakily held its head with its hands, taking a long time to recover.
"Master, what are you doing?! Why did you throw me?!"
"Hmm... I was just testing your durability," Kira said, looking at its completely undamaged shell and evading the main point. "It seems your body is quite sturdy."
"Hahaha, of course!" The skull's attention was instantly diverted, and it laughed wildly. "Even Star Platinum's 'ORA ORA' didn't seriously injure me back then! How could a test like this possibly hurt me?!"
"Wait, you have memories of before?"
"This is the third time you've summoned me, Master! How could I forget!" it answered Kira's question excitedly. "Although I failed the second time, now that you've let me possess this watch, I won't fail again!"
"The master you're talking about... who is it?"
This was a crucial question. If it said Yoshikage Kira's name, then Kira could deduce that he was planning something, and all he had to do was prevent things from going his way... Even if the answer was someone else, it would still provide a small clue.
"Of course, it's you, the wielder of Killer Queen!" it said frankly. "Although your appearance has become younger, your essence hasn't changed. I could recognize you at a glance!"
"Ah, is that so. Go on." So this thing doesn't know what's going on. It only has memories of the times it was summoned... Come to think of it, it sees my essence and Yoshikage Kira's as the same.
"Although my eyesight isn't very good, I will definitely hunt down the enemy to the death! Just leave any enemies you need to get rid of to me!"
Kira understood. "So you're saying you want me to let you out often, right?"
According to what it said, this was the third time it had been out. Besides the battle against Jotaro Kujo, the other time must have been when Kira was testing its abilities. After all, before meeting the main group, Yoshikage Kira had always believed he was the only one with this ability and would solve problems himself, not using such a... "chicken-rib"... ability.
So this guy has been warming the bench for ages...
Seeing it nod its head frantically, Kira continued, "You can forget about that now. I don't have any enemies I need to hunt down to the death. I probably won't have a use for you."
Although the threat of the League of Villains still loomed, it didn't have much to do with him. After all, if the sky fell, All Might would be there to hold it up.
Hearing Kira's reply, it was as if a bucket of cold water had been thrown on it. It quickly said, "Master, I don't have to just blow people up! I can handle peeping, eavesdropping, or tracking!"
Seeing that Kira seemed tempted, he continued to strike while the iron was hot. "Look, a meat shield as tough as me won't be broken even if someone finds it, and no one will suspect you. If you're willing, I can even make the other person disappear directly..."
Watching it show off its abilities with all its might, Kira was reminded of a prisoner in a jail, desperately working, craving freedom. As long as he could achieve his goal, he would do anything...
"Can you do it without killing anyone?"
To be honest, Kira felt a little sorry for it. As long as it could accept his rules, he didn't mind letting it out.
"Master, forget killing people, I won't even crush an ant!" the skull said, words that even it didn't believe.
Kira rolled his eyes. "Fine. You can follow me for now."
