The three of them had fun passing the time on the boat during the voyage.
Soon, Luffy pointed excitedly, "Hey, look! There are three people in trouble over there. Let's go rescue them!"
Zoro nodded in agreement, but Lynn shook his head. "No. Judging by their outfits, those are Buggy Pirates."
Still, Lynn was actually glad to let them come aboard—no one on their ship knew the way to the next island, Orange Town.
The three Kurowns stepped onto the boat, but no sooner had they said "Thank you" than they drew their knives.
One sneered, "Hand over this ship to us! The Buggy Pirates have claimed it!"
Bam! The sudden shift from desperate to aggressive was almost comical.
Lynn rolled his eyes. "Could you three stop with those disgusting faces? If I remember correctly, you started the looting first, right? Now it looks like we're bullying you."
He added, "You said you're from Buggy's crew? So Buggy must be nearby. Take us to him."
Luffy looked confused. "Do you know Buggy?"
Lynn nodded. "I heard that guy loves treasure. He goes ashore, plunders civilians' wealth, and destroys buildings. He's definitely asking for trouble."
Zoro grunted. "What a classless pirate. Always bullying civilians. It's time to teach him a lesson."
Luffy's eyes glinted. "Yeah! Let's go beat Buggy to death!"
The three Buggy Pirates hoped these newcomers would find Buggy first—then they'd see how Buggy tortured his own crew.
Lynn frowned. "Luffy, Zoro, we can't just use that as an excuse to beat Buggy."
"Why not?" they asked.
Lynn explained, "Who are we? Pirates. Now imagine we arrive at a town, and it's all destroyed—no clean water anywhere. As pirates who've traveled far, but can't even get a drink, how can we feel good?"
"So, as free pirates who do whatever we want, how can we accept that? I'm in a bad mood now. And as pirates, do we really need a reason to beat Buggy when we're unhappy?"
"Sugoi!" Luffy punched his palm, and a light bulb lit up above his head.
Zoro's eyes flashed. Being a pirate actually sounded pretty interesting.
But then he thought, I'm not good enough yet.
Lynn and Luffy put arms around each other's shoulders and shouted, "Freedom! Freedom!"
Zoro quickly regained his composure. "You two idiots, stop it! Keep this up and the boat will capsize!"
Thanks to Lynn's space backpack, they never ran out of food, and Luffy didn't use his rubber fruit powers to catapult into a giant bird's mouth like in the original story—avoiding that messy plot point.
Soon, Orange Town appeared on the horizon.
After landing, Lynn frowned and muttered, "Look at this town—so desolate, no one around. It makes me mad. Let's find Buggy and make him pay for ruining our mood!"
Zoro raised an eyebrow. "How much compensation do you want?"
Lynn shrugged. "We're pirates. We should ask for his treasure. If we don't get his bounty, that'd be sad. You get me?"
Zoro laughed dryly. "You really are a devil."
Luffy stepped forward grinning, "Let's just rob his bounty!"
As they walked, they suddenly heard someone yelling behind them.
"Little Cat Burglar! Stop and give back our nautical charts!"
"If Captain Buggy finds out the charts are missing, he'll tear us apart!"
"That bitch had the nerve to steal from Captain Buggy? I'll teach her a lesson!"
Luffy and the others froze. It was Nami being chased!
Lynn waved dismissively. "Hey, big-breasted girl—Nami, huh? Looks like you're in trouble, so… bye!"
Everyone stared, confused. Wasn't the hero supposed to save the damsel?
Luffy spun around. "Hey Lynn, isn't she the navigator we're looking for? How can we just ignore her?"
Zoro asked, "They're almost here. What do you think we should do?"
Lynn smiled slyly. "What else? Beat Buggy and his crew!"
Before Nami could plead, Luffy was already pummeling her pursuers with punches and kicks.
Nami stared, stunned.
Her eyes sparkled as she recovered. "Hey, how about a deal? I'll be your navigator until you find someone better. But in return, you help me steal Buggy's treasure. Sounds fair, right?"
Luffy shook his head. "Not interested. Find someone else."
Lynn added, "We're pirates, not thieves. But since we're looking for Buggy anyway, do you know where he is?"
Since Lynn was intent on finding Buggy, it was clear he planned to cause trouble—and that's why he attacked Buggy's men.
Nami nodded. "I know where he is. Come with me. It's not too late. One thing—you should know Buggy's bounty is 15 million Berry. Before we face him, we should have a plan."
Luffy waved her off. "Enough talk! I want to beat him up."
Zoro grinned, "Kill him."
Lynn laughed, "Fight him to the death."
"Yoshi!" the three shouted in unison.
Nami slapped her forehead. "I'm talking to you guys! Oh, forget it… Just be careful."
Lynn looked at Nami and said, "What's there to worry about? We're strong. Luffy can eat a cow. Zoro can drink several jars of wine. And I wake up this handsome every day!"
The three trailing Lynn nearly collapsed from the absurdity.
