The sky burned red as Lakshya and Tarka stepped out of the misty valleys of Nilaya and into a land that looked like it had been carved by war itself. The Crimson Desert stretched endlessly — dunes of blood-red sand glowing under the harsh light of Mahakaal Lok's twin suns.
Tarka shaded her eyes, scanning the horizon. "This desert… it's not just heat and sand. It's a graveyard."
Lakshya knelt, picking up a handful of crimson sand. It shimmered like powdered ruby. "Why is it red?"
"Legends say it's the blood of a thousand fallen kingdoms. The desert remembers every battle ever fought here," Tarka replied, her tone low.
🌵 The Watcher's Domain
Their destination was the Crescent Pillar, a lone black spire that rose from the heart of the desert like a clawed finger pointing to the sky. According to Brahmayogi Raas, this was the place where one of the Nine Thrones of Mahakaal Lok had their outpost — the Crescent Watcher.
As they trudged through the dunes, Lakshya felt the air grow heavier, as though unseen eyes were watching them. He turned sharply. Nothing.
"Something's following us," he said.
Tarka nodded. "Not something. Someone."
🏜️ Ambush in the Red Storm
The winds howled. A crimson sandstorm rose out of nowhere, blinding them. From within the storm came figures — tall warriors in black armor, their helmets shaped like crescent moons. Their movements were silent, deadly.
"Who dares cross the domain of the Crescent Watcher?" one of them hissed.
Lakshya stepped forward. "I seek answers. I hold the First Mirror."
The warriors froze at his words. Then, in unison, they knelt.
"Our master awaits you," their leader said.
Tarka leaned closer to Lakshya. "This could be a trap."
Lakshya's eyes narrowed. "Or an invitation."
🏛️ The Crescent Watcher
The black spire loomed closer. At its base was a hall carved of onyx and bone, lined with torches of green fire. Inside, seated on a throne carved from moonstone, was the Crescent Watcher.
He was not fully human. His body was clad in dark ceremonial armor, but his face was pale, almost silver, with black crescent marks under his glowing eyes. A long curved blade rested by his side.
"So," the Watcher said, his voice deep, echoing. "The one chosen by the Vardaan stands before me."
Lakshya stepped forward. "You know of me?"
"I know of all who awaken. The Shunyaka Heralds move because of you. You stir the balance of Maya and Shakti."
"Then help me stop them."
The Watcher's gaze hardened. "Help you? Or test you? I do not serve the weak."
⚔️ Trial of the Crescent Blade
Without warning, the Watcher rose, drawing his blade. A crescent of silver energy flashed toward Lakshya. He barely dodged, the strike slicing through a marble pillar behind him like it was cloth.
"If you wish to stand against Shunyaka, you must first prove you can stand against me," the Watcher said.
Lakshya activated Inferno Step, closing the distance in a burst of flames. Their blades — fire and silver — clashed, sparks flying. Each strike of the Watcher's sword was like a wave, relentless and sharp.
Tarka moved to help, but the Watcher raised his hand. A force field of crescent light pushed her back.
"This is his trial," he said.
Lakshya's fire chains lashed out, wrapping around the Watcher's blade. With a roar, he unleashed Eternal Spark, pushing the fire into the crescent energy. The impact shook the hall, a clash of fire and moonlight.
🌙 The Watcher's Recognition
After several brutal exchanges, the Watcher lowered his blade and smiled faintly.
"Good," he said. "Your flame does not falter. Few pass the Crescent Blade without breaking."
He sheathed his weapon and stepped closer. "I will aid you, but understand — the Nine Thrones are not allies to one another. You will need to earn each throne's respect, or their fear."
Lakshya nodded. "Then I'll do both."
🕯️ The Warning of the Second Mirror
The Watcher handed Lakshya a shard of black moonstone. "The Second Mirror lies within the Temple of Shifting Suns in the Western Wastes. But beware — Shunyaka's second Herald waits there."
"Second Herald?" Tarka asked. "The first was bad enough."
"This one," the Watcher said darkly, "feeds on memories themselves. If you falter, it will erase who you are."
Lakshya tightened his fist. "Then I'll just have to burn brighter."
