Chapter 35 - chapter 35: A Dinner of Thorns

Minjoon sat behind his desk, rolling a pen between his fingers, eyes fixed on Jihyun who hadn't moved since he came in.

Finally, Minjoon sighed, pushed back his chair, and walked over to the couch.

He dropped down beside Jihyun, tilting his head to study him.

"What's wrong?

You've been sitting there like a statue since you came. It's already evening,"

Minjoon asked.

Jihyun shook his head, voice low.

"Nothing. I just wanted to visit."

Minjoon raised a brow.

"So you're not going to tell me anything?"

"I was just feeling a bit off,"

Jihyun muttered.

"Oh." Minjoon stood, walking back to his desk.

He rummaged through the drawers, flipping through a stack of files until he pulled one out.

He returned, dropping it into Jihyun's lap. "Here. Take this."

Jihyun frowned, opening the file.

"What's this"

His words stopped as his eyes widened. "The Itaewon condo?"

"It's yours now," Minjoon said simply.

"What? Why? How

Did Dad know?" Jihyun looked at him in shock.

Minjoon chuckled dryly.

"Dad told me to transfer it to your name."

"But why?" Jihyun asked again, confused.

"Because from the start, you wanted it. You always liked it,"

Minjoon replied, leaning back casually.

Jihyun shook his head.

"But wasn't this supposed to be yours?"

"Dad said it's for you,"

Minjoon said firmly.

"He didn't mean it when he brushed it off back then. At that time, you were still too young, and Dad wanted you to focus on your studies. That's all."

"So this was what Dad asked you to give me before leaving for Japan?"

Jihyun whispered.

Minjoon nodded. "Yeah."

Jihyun leaned back on the couch, a smile tugging at his lips.

Minjoon chuckled.

"Now, aren't you going back?"

"No. I don't want to," Jihyun mumbled.

Minjoon gave him a sharp glance.

"Did you fight with Taewon again?"

"No, I didn't." Jihyun's voice dropped cold. "He's just a hypocrite. That's all."

Minjoon sighed.

"Oh? And now what did Taewon do to earn another title?"

"Nothing,"

Jihyun snapped.

"But I'm not going back. I'll be staying here with you."

"I'm not working overnight," Minjoon warned. "I'll be going home tonight."

"Still, I'm not leaving,I'll be going with you ."

"Then go with me. We'll meet Mom together."

"And when she asks why you're back even though you left yesterday"

"I'm not going home either," Jihyun cut in firmly. "Let me stay for a while."

Minjoon leaned back in couch

"Alright. Stay as long as you want."

Silence lingered for a moment before Minjoon stood again, grabbing his keys.

"Come on. Let's go out for dinner."

"What? Now?" Jihyun asked, blinking.

"Yes, now. Let's go," Minjoon said, pulling him up by the hand.

In minutes, they were in Minjoon's car.

"Where to?" Jihyun asked.

"You choose."

"sushi."

"No. Hotpot," Minjoon countered, smirking as he started the engine.

"Sushi."

"Fine," Minjoon gave in with a groan. "Sushi."

Minjoon's drove them to one of Seoul's most famous Japanese restaurants.

Inside, the waiter bowed and took their order. Jihyun listed the dishes casually, but the amount and variety turned heads.

(1:Omakase sushi platter with toro, uni, and otoro.

2:Grilled unagi.

3:Tempura moriawase.

4:Wagyu beef tataki.

5:Sashimi selection of fatty tuna, amberjack, and red snapper.

6:Abalone steamed with sake.

7:King crab legs.

8:Sea urchin risotto.

9:Matcha tiramisu.

And yes,

Yuzu cheesecake with black sesame ice cream)

The waiter left, and Minjoon leaned back, folding his arms.

"Jihyun," he asked suddenly, voice curious, "you're not pregnant, right?"

Jihyun froze, glaring at him.

"Pregnant? My foot. Who would want to have that hypocrite's child?"

Minjoon smirked, clearly amused.

"I didn't say it had to be Taewon's child. But maybe you're planning one with him, hm?"

"Hyung!"

Jihyun's cheeks flushed red with anger. "You"

Before he could finish, a hand patted Minjoon's shoulder from behind. Both brothers turned.

Standing there was Taewon, Harin at his side and Taehyun,

Minjoon rose quickly, expression polite as he greeted Harin , Taewon with equal courtesy, and taehyun with pissed reaction,

Harin's lips curved into a smile.

"Oh, Jihyun, you're here too."

Jihyun forced himself to stand, bowing slightly before rolling his eyes with a sulk.

Taehyun suddenly stepped forward, extending his hand toward Jihyun. His smile was warm.

"Hello, I'm Taehyun. Taewon's best friend. You must be Jihyun right. You're even prettier in person."

Jihyun blinked in surprise, glancing once at Taewon before forcing a small smile.

"Oh, thank you. You're also handsome unlike someone."

His voice dripped sarcasm as his eyes flickered toward Taewon.

Minjoon's brows arched.

"If you want, you can join us. We already ordered a lot."

"Why not?"

Taehyun grinned, sliding into the seat beside Minjoon without hesitation.

Taewon lowered himself into the chair next to Jihyun, while Harin settled beside them with perfect grace.

Leaning close to Minjoon, Taehyun whispered with a sly smirk,

"Thanks for the invitation,"

Minjoon's eyes narrowed.

"I invited my brother-in-law and Harin. Not you."

Taehyun leaned back in his chair, smug. "Oh, my bad."

Meanwhile, Taewon's gaze lingered on Jihyun, But Jihyun didn't even glance his way, his lips pressed in a sulking pout.

(AFTER a while)

Jihyun leaned toward Taewon, lowering his voice.

"Why did you come here and didn't even bother telling me?"

"I was about to," Taewon replied calmly.

"But Jin said you went to Minjoon's company. I thought you'd be with him."

Before Jihyun could respond,

Harin cut in, her tone dripping with sugar-coated poison.

"Actually, it's been ages since we had dinner together. I've been busy, but since Taewon and Taehyun asked, I made time today."

Jihyun smiled, sharp.

"Good for you. Since you don't have a husband or a boyfriend at this age, it makes sense to keep yourself happy by staying close to Taewon and Taehyun.

I get it,

it's hard for an Omega without a partner. Not all Omegas are lucky."

Harin's eyes cooled, smile fixed.

"Why would I need a husband or a boyfriend when I have Taewon and Taehyun by my side?"

"Yes,that's what I'm saying"

Taehyun hid a laugh behind his glass. Minjoon clicked his tongue.

Taewon glanced at Jihyun, expression unreadable.

The waiter arrived, placing steaming dishes across the table.

Taehyun chuckled, glancing at the table full of plates.

"You ordered all this for just the two of you? Were you expecting us?"

Minjoon's replied,

"No. Jihyun and I enjoy eating well."

"Right," Jihyun added with a faint smile.

"I wasn't in the best mood today, so I asked hyung to treat me."

"That's good,"

Taehyun said, leaning back.

"Omegas should eat plenty when they're stressed. Keeps them healthy." He said pointing toward Minjoon,

During meal Taehyun kept sliding dishes onto Minjoon's plate, ignoring Minjoon's increasingly stiff expression.

Jihyun tilted his head curiously.

"Hyung, you've met Taehyun before?"

"yes," Minjoon muttered.

"By mistake."

As Harin's phone rang. She answered quickly, her lips curling into a smug smile.

"Yes, I'll come. My soon-to-be boyfriend is waiting for me." She turned deliberately toward Jihyun.

Jihyun smiled, voice edged with mockery.

"Finally. I wish you good luck with your not-so-soon-to-be boyfriend."

Harin's expression twitched before she forced a sweet smile

"You guys continue "

After the meal, Taewon quietly settled the bill.

They stepped outside into the night air, the city lights spilling across the street.

"Jihyun, you go back with Taewon, alright?" Minjoon said firmly.

Jihyun nodded. "Yes."

Taewon turned to Taehyun

" Taehyun. I'll drop you."

But Taehyun shook his head quickly.

"No, it's okay. Minjoon said he'll drop me."

Minjoon frowned.

"What do you mean 'okay'? When did"

"Let's go,"

Taehyun cut him off, already pushing Minjoon toward his own car.

Taewon's brows knit slightly at the scene, but he said nothing. He simply opened the door for Jihyun. As they slipped into the car, the door shut with a heavy click, leaving Minjoon staring at Taehyun with disbelief.
