Chapter 14 - Chapter 14:A Day Out

The three of you step out into the sunlit street, the warm breeze tousling your hair as the tantalizing scent of grilled meat, spicy salsa, and melted cheese fills the air. You spot the taco truck parked near a shaded patch of trees, its colorful exterior practically screaming "You're about to eat something dangerously delicious."

You tug your lavender maxi just a little higher and adjust your low ponytail as Junaid and Alzan trail slightly behind you—like your personal guards, but hotter.

Alzan, dramatic as ever, whistles under his breath.

"Simran, you sure we came here for tacos? Or to test my self-control?"

Junaid shoots him a look but doesn't say anything—his jaw's already tight. You feel it without even turning around.

You, smirking as you spin on your heel to face them:

"Boys, I'm starving. Not flirting."

Alzan, teasing: "Tough luck. I do both when I'm hungry."

You burst out laughing, shaking your head, and walk up to the truck to order.

"Three tacos each," you call out confidently to the vendor, "extra salsa, soft shell, and—Junaid, I'm guessing no onions?"

He nods slowly, still watching you.

"You remember that?"

You, without missing a beat:

"Of course. I don't forget things… especially not when it comes to food."

He smiles, that low dangerous one, the one that makes your stomach flutter even before the spice hits.

[10 minutes later – picnic table nearby]

All three of you sit together, sunlight flickering through the trees above. You take a bite of your taco and moan—actual moan—because it's that good. Cheese, spice, crunch, bliss.

Alzan, staring:

"I swear, if you do that again, I'm gonna need a cold shower."

Junaid, dry but burning:

"She's always been the type to enjoy things properly."

You glance between the two, a brow raised.

You:

"Okay. So which one of you wants to feed me the next bite?"

They both freeze.

And then—chaos.

Alzan leans in with half his taco, grinning wickedly.

Junaid calmly tears off a piece of his and offers it near your lips.

You blink.

You weren't expecting both of them to play along.

Your heart skips a beat. Tension? It's sizzling like oil on a hot pan now.

You lean in toward Junaid's hand, about to take the bite—and just before your lips touch his fingers, you glance sideways at Alzan and wink.

You:

"Next one's yours."

Both boys look ready to combust.

A few minutes later, after the tacos are gone and the sun's dipped lower…

Alzan, dusting his hands, stands. "Let's walk, sunshine. Burn off that spice before it burns holes in our hearts."

Junaid is already on his feet too. "She's not walking alone with you."

Alzan, teasing but firm: "So we both go. Unless, Simran wants to pick?"

They look at her. Expecting. Waiting.

Heart thumping. Every nerve on edge.

Simran rises slowly, brushing nonexistent crumbs from her dress, playing it cool even though her stomach is doing literal somersaults.

She flicks her hair over one shoulder and gives them both a look that could kill and cure at the same time. "Well, I came here to walk. Not babysit your egos. So if you're done trying to one-up each other, we move."

Alzan chuckles, clearly entertained. "Feisty. I like it."

Junaid? He just narrows his eyes but falls into step beside her like it's the most natural thing. Protective. Tense. Quietly burning.

The three of them begin strolling down the narrow stone path lined with sleepy vines and fading golden light. The air smells like earth and leftover spice from the tacos, and there's a strange electricity clinging to all of them.

Alzan walks on Simran's left, dangerously close, shoulder brushing hers every few steps. "So," he says, low and velvety, "if I told you that dress was driving me insane all night… would that ruin the vibe?"

Junaid instantly cuts in, voice cool as the breeze. "The vibe got ruined the moment you opened your mouth."

Simran bursts into a short laugh, biting her lip, loving every bit of the tension rippling between the two boys.

Alzan doesn't miss a beat. "Relax, bro. You think you're the only one who's noticed how she walks like she owns the night?"

Junaid glances at her now. "I know she owns the night."

And just like that, Simran's heart trips on itself again. The air's thick now — not with words, but with glances that linger too long and fingers that almost touch and a feeling that something's about to shift.

The sky is lilac now. The path leads to a small, hidden clearing with a bench and wildflowers creeping up the edges.

"You wanna sit?" Alzan offers.

Simran shrugs, "Maybe."

But Junaid's already settling in, leaving the spot next to him open — like he knew she'd sit there.

She walks slowly toward it, but before she sits…

Alzan leans in, voice right behind her ear. "You sure you're sitting next to the right guy?"

A shiver shoots down her spine.

But when she turns to look — it's Junaid's eyes that hold hers

Author's note: If you are wondering why this two are together with her and Zain is missing then FYI Junaid and Alzan are cousins so whatever happens death won't occur can't guarantee no fights but yea
