"Since you are in the same dorm, this plan is likely to work," Sophia said, a sly smile spreading across her face.
"I heard from my source that Elsa is an orphan and was raised in a small countryside. Which makes her a vulnerable target.
If we could dig up some dirt on her family, maybe something truly devastating, we could use that to destroy her. Like, I heard her parents died in a brutal murder-suicide, and she's been living with the guilt and shame ever since.
We could spread a rumor that she's not just hiding her family's dark past, but that she's also been having nightmares and flashbacks about the traumatic event. We could make it seem like she's on the verge of a breakdown, and that she's just pretending to be strong."
Sophia's eyes gleamed with malice as she continued, "And to really drive the nail in her coffin, we could hack into her personal accounts and send out messages to her friends and acquaintances, pretending to be her. We could make it seem like she's losing her grip on reality, and that she's becoming increasingly unhinged.
We could even plant some seeds of doubt in the minds of her friends and classmates, making them question her sanity and her ability to be trusted.
And to top it all off, we could create a fake social media account in her name, posting disturbing and graphic content that would make everyone think she's lost it. We could make her a laughingstock, a pariah in her own school."
But Wren's attention was caught by Sophia's revelation about Elsa's past. "Hold on, Elsa is an orphan?" Wren asked, her voice filled with surprise. She had always thought of Elsa as a rich, spoilt brat from a wealthy family, living the best life possible. But it seemed she was wrong.
Wren's mind began to reel as she thought about all the times she had faced off with Elsa.
She felt a pang of guilt and regret, realizing that she had misjudged Elsa's background and circumstances. Elsa's cold demeanor and rough edges made sense now, given her difficult past.
"I won't help you with this plan, Sophia," Wren said suddenly, interrupting Sophia's plans. "This is too cruel and manipulative. Maybe try a different approach or I am out."
Sophia glared at Wren and replied, "You said you were in, you can't back down. You're not going to let Elsa get the best of you, are you?"
"Yes, I do, but not anymore," Wren said calmly. "If the revenge plan is about bringing up a dark family event and manipulating people's perceptions of her, I am out. I don't want to be a part of something that could potentially destroy her."
Sophia glared at Wren and retorted, "You're making a big mistake, Wren. You think you're better than me? You think you're above all this? Newsflash, Wren: you're not. You're just as ruthless and cunning as I am. Don't pretend to be something you're not."
Wren stood her ground, refusing to back down. "I'm not going to participate in something that could hurt someone that badly. It's not worth it to me."
Sophia sneered at Wren. "You're weak, Wren. You're a pathetic excuse for a rival. I'll make sure everyone knows that you're a coward who can't even stomach a little bit of revenge."
With that, Sophia turned and walked away, leaving Wren feeling uneasy and wary. Wren knew that she had just made an enemy out of Sophia, and she wondered what Sophia knew about her that she was using as leverage.
Wren decided to be more careful and prepared, knowing that Sophia was not someone to be underestimated.
When Sophia left, Wren noticed Elsa standing behind her, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and vulnerability.
The atmosphere felt awkward, and Wren could sense that Elsa had overheard the conversation. Elsa's eyes locked onto Wren's for a brief moment, and Wren felt a pang of guilt and regret.
But Elsa's expression quickly changed, and she turned away, sending a meaningful glare towards Wren before walking off.
Wren felt her stomach twist and turn, she felt like a jerk. But everything was done, and she could do nothing about it. She sighed and headed towards the cafeteria for lunch, her appetite suddenly returning.
As she approached her table, one of Sophia's buddies bumped into her, causing her to trip and fall.
The whole food on the tray poured onto her, staining her completely. The cafeteria erupted into laughter, with students pointing and giggling at Wren's misfortune. Wren's face burned with embarrassment and anger.
"Oh my god, clumsy much?" Sophia's friend laughed, her voice dripping with mockery. "You should watch where you're going, Wren. You're so accident-prone."
Wren's eyes narrowed, her anger boiling over. She knew it was all intentional, and she was not a person to leave a fight empty. She got up, her eyes locked onto Sophia, who was sitting across the room, a smug look on her face.
"Looks like someone needs a bib," Sophia said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "You're so clumsy, Wren. Maybe you should stick to playing with dolls."
The cafeteria erupted into laughter again, with students snickering and whispering to each other.
Wren's anger reached a boiling point, and she walked up to Sophia, her soiled hands dripping with sauce and food particles.
Sophia's eyes widened in horror as Wren rubbed her hands all over Sophia's face, leaving a messy and humiliating stain.
"Wren Williams," Sophia screamed standing up, her voice echoing through the cafeteria. But Wren only smirked, her eyes glinting with amusement.
"That's right, you should know who you are messing with," Wren said, her voice dripping with confidence. "I am not like the other students you mess with."
As Wren turned to leave, her gut told her something was coming towards her. Sophia had thrown her cutting knife at her, and Wren, without turning, caught the knife with her two fingers before turning with a devious smirk.
"Don't you think this pathetic thing can hurt me? Wrong, Sophia," Wren said, her voice dripping with confidence. Then Wren threw it back, and it flew through the air, cutting Sophia's face.
The cafeteria erupted into gasps, and everyone stared in shock. Sophia tried to hold back her tears, her face bleeding and her pride wounded. She stood up, her eyes blazing with anger and humiliation, and walked out of the cafeteria with her girls, her head held high despite the embarrassment.
"You would pay Wren, with your life. I promise you on that," Sophia snarled inwardly, stomping off. Meanwhile, the girl who offended Wren felt shivers, taking notes not to cross Wren's path again. All those who tried messing with Wren kept their tails still, their eyes wide with fear and respect.
Wren, who was standing in the hall, felt sticky and uncomfortable. She walked out of the cafeteria, hungry and annoyed, her mind racing with the events that had just transpired. She knew she had just made a powerful enemy, but she was not afraid. She was a force to be reckoned with, and everyone in the school would soon learn that.
As Wren walked out, she couldn't help but notice the whispers and stares from her classmates. She had earned their respect, but at what cost? She knew that Sophia would stop at nothing to get revenge, and Wren would have to be prepared to defend herself.
But for now, she just smiled to herself, feeling a sense of satisfaction and pride. She had stood up for herself, and she had come out on top.
