Chapter 16 - Hunting

The teacher appeared on the large screen billboard, grabbing the attention of the students with a serious expression. "Today, we are going to test the speed and agility of each group. This is not a practical test, and awards would be given. This test would elevate your stats to level up. Last practical test was a warm-up to the real world, and so far, everyone is good. There are no lacking students when it comes to precision. This practical test would determine if some students would have to sit behind and be tutored or if they have to leave the class."

The teacher's words were met with a mixture of excitement and nervousness from the students. "You are all required to use bows and arrows for this test. The academy would not allow cheats or double-crossing on other groups. May the best team win." After that, the screen went off, and a gunshot could be heard, signaling the start of the test. Everyone hurriedly went to the weapons tower, where they collected their tools. Today, instead of snipers, the board was filled with different types of bows and arrows, each with its unique characteristics and advantages.

As Wren approached the weapons tower, the system opened up, choosing the best arrows and bows she should pick up. The system's recommendations were based on her skills and strengths, and she trusted its judgment. Not only her, but other students had the support of their system, which meant that this test was no joke, as it could determine the future of each of them.

_Horses would be used for this test._ They received a notification, and each student climbed onto a horse, two on one horse. The horses were well-trained and responsive to the students' commands. As they set off, the system guided them on how to steadily ride the horse, providing real-time feedback and adjustments to help them improve their riding skills.

The horses' hooves pounded the ground, and the students held on tight, their bows and arrows at the ready. Wren felt a rush of adrenaline as she rode the horse, her senses heightened as she prepared for the test ahead. She glanced at her partner, Diana, and nodded, and together they charged forward into the forest following their group members

The forest was thick and dense, and many struggled to keep up. Luckily, they had taken daggers along, cutting vines of trees leading the horse forward. Finally, the group came to a stop, where they dropped from the horses with a thud. It was a clear landscape with wild and dangerous animals grazing and mingling - elephants with massive tusks, lions with shaggy manes, and leopards with sleek, spotted coats. A herd of wildebeest grazed peacefully in the distance, while a group of hyenas prowled the periphery, their eyes scanning for potential prey. A flock of vultures soared overhead, their sharp eyes scanning the ground for carrion. A pair of rhinos charged through the underbrush, their horns glinting in the sunlight. A giant python slithered silently through the grass, its eyes fixed on its next meal. A pack of wild boars rooted through the underbrush, their sharp tusks and aggressive behavior making them a formidable opponent.

Finn, the newly appointed leader, gathered his teammates around, his voice low and urgent. "We would be divided into a group of four, this way hunting would be more efficient and faster. If we were to kill at the same time, it would alert the animals and blow our cover. We are on a timer, so we have to be quick." Then he started dividing everyone, giving roles to those who were good at aiming to lead the troops.

Luckily, Wren and Diana were on the same team. "We are supposed to hunt a white-haired tiger," Diana said as she scrolled through the system, her eyes scanning the information. "A black mane lion is being hunted by another team, but our target is the white-haired tiger it gives us more points. Let's move quickly and quietly, and try to get into position without alerting it." Wren nodded, her eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of their target. Diana continued, "According to the system, the white-haired tiger is known for its speed and agility, so we'll need to be fast and precise if we want to take it down."

Their team was tasked with hunting a variety of animals, including a pack of wolves, a giant bear, a venomous snake, a crocodile, a giant eagle, and a wolverine. The wolves were known for their cunning and coordination, the bear for its brute strength, the snake for its stealth and deadly venom, the crocodile for its powerful jaws, the eagle for its sharp talons and piercing eyesight, and the wolverine for its ferocity and tenacity.

As they set out, the troop knew they had their work cut out for them. The stakes were high, and the challenge was clear. They nodded at each other, ready to take on the task ahead, their senses heightened as they scanned the surroundings for signs of their targets. The white-haired tiger, in particular, was a majestic creature with piercing green eyes and razor-sharp claws. It was a formidable opponent, and Wren and Diana knew they would need all their skills and strategy to take it down.

"

Finally, they arrived at a suitable hunting ground where the appointed leader of their troop, Zach, turned to face them with a silent expression. "Are we all ready? At the count of five, we all shoot. We wouldn't want others running around." They nodded, set up their weapons, their arrows glinting in the sunlight. Wren pointed her arrow at the white-haired tiger, her heart skipped a bit that she was going to kill such a rare and majestic creature.

"1...2...3...4... Shoot." Five arrows flew in the air, each piercing their aimed animals. The white-haired tiger, the giant bear, the pack of wolves, the venomous snake, and the crocodile all fell to the ground, struck by the deadly arrows.

"Shoot." Another command came, and five arrows flew in the air, striking the giant eagle and the wolverine with precision. The eagle let out a loud screech as it fell from the sky, its wings beating wildly before it crashed to the ground.

"Shoot." Commands after commands, the troop shot arrows mercilessly at the animals, their movements swift and efficient. The wolverine snarled and snipped as it died, its ferocity unwavering even in death. The giant bear let out a deafening roar before it fell silent, its massive body crashing to the ground.

Until all the animals were dead on the floor, their lifeless bodies strewn across the hunting ground. The white-haired tiger, the giant bear, the pack of wolves, the venomous snake, the crocodile, the giant eagle, and the wolverine all lay motionless, their bodies a testament to the troop's skill and coordination. The troop stood silently, their faces expressionless, as they surveyed their handiwork.

...

After the kill, the troop walked to the rest of the group, and by now, the others were done. The system dinged in their heads, announcing the rankings.

The rankings were as follows:

- *Group Two*: 400 kills - "four hundred"

- *Group 2*: 350 kills - "three hundred and fifty"

- *Group 5*: 349 kills - "three hundred and forty-nine"

- *Group 3*: 301 kills - "three hundred and one"

- *Group 4*: 300 kills - "three hundred"

,Coming in first place was Group Two with four hundred kills, a feat that could be verbally expressed as "four hundred". Wren's expression turned cold as she saw that Kai's group was leading, a fact that fueled her dislike for him and intensified her competitive spirit.

Wren's eyes narrowed as she gazed at the rankings her mind already racing with strategies to overtake Kai's group and claim the top spot for herself.
