The moment the sun disappeared beyond the skyline and the city lights began to shimmer awake, the automatic shades in the living room slowly lifted. I looked up from my notebook, and the neat rows of blood-filled shot glasses before me. Just in time to catch the view unfold.
The city stretched beneath us, glowing and thrumming back alive. A city I'd never thought I'd set foot in. And yet, here I was.
It hadn't quite hit me yet, that the Trials were over. Maybe because Ravić's version of celebrating made it very hard to think about anything else. But now that I am alone, watching the stars and the moon shine bright under the city lights, it finally hit me that I was going to spend eternity with the prince of this world.
And we had a son. Our son.
If someone told me years ago that I'd become a vampire, that I'd build a life, a family, out of all the ruin, I would've laughed at their face. It sounded so impossible. Unthinkable.
And yet, here I am.
