The King's voice still rang in my skull, louder than the applause thundering through the throne room. Ravić, their prince, my future husband, father of my child, was being granted the highest power short of being the King himself. The armies of the realm were his to command now, his to wield whichever ways he choose.
They cheered his name. They called this eradication a victory. But it just served me a stark reminder: that the vampires were no different than the humans. We have the tendency to eradicate the things we can't fix.
Before they left, Angelo had outranked them all. He was General. Even as Crown Prince, Ravić had been expected to follow Angelo's lead in the field, given his experience.
